I am sorry Umborls but I must respectfully disagree with that appraisal of the situation. They have literally already done this for heavens sake! Seperate issue and at an earlier time yes, but the team did EXACTLY what you are trying to tell us they wouldn’t; they forced restrictions intended for officials into Singleplayer mode and Private Servers. And it is all there and documentented for the entire forum to see. Take a look at my own thread and that of others listed within, and the testimony and lived experiences of those who still suffer beneath it! No fewer than 20 players spread across multiple threads have all come out of the woodwork to express their disapproval of this.
Funcom took the same new restrictions intended for official servers, specifically preventing players from building in the undermesh and beyond the green Cursed Wall, the adding of more no building areas & expansion of existing ones, and many others, and hammered the same restrictions like a square peg into a round hole into every mode of play…including Singleplayer mode and Private Servers, and then left console players with no way to disable it, or ease the burden of misery they heaped upon them (and the same argument could also be made of no longer being able to receive Purges in virtually the entire River biome).
And here is how this relates to the current issue. For most PvE players, building is one of, if not the largest end game loop there is. Just look at the amazing works showcased in the share your shelter thread. People have been building castles, bridges, towns and vilages since launch. Just as telling the PvP community that they have to lighten their defences and de-fortify their bases in the face of frequent offline raiding, it is the illogical antithesis of their mode. Until my last post in this thread here I had stayed out of this issue regarding reports and the deleting of bases on officials. Entirely. When my base died after being a legitimate build for years it was a horrible feeling. And while I have checked on the cause of its undoing a handful of times over the 10 months since it happened, I ultimately shouldered the burden and remained friendly and positive. However, I will NOT remain silent, or cheer and applaud while the core playerbase now goes through the same misery and sees their bases deleted also, for something which has been not only completely acceptable, but even marvelled at, lauded and encouraged in community competitons, because they want to rewrite the rule book 5 years after the games release date.
PvE deserves better. PvP deserves better. You are all my brothers and sisters and I stand with you.
