Yeah id have to say as much as i use the fish detectors to see where my enemies are and how they’re using my resources, its kind of rediculous. Some stuff, if not most stuff, shouldn’t be tracked at all player to player.
I agree. This will make myself and others leave. No more hidden bases. This is another horrible idea
Let me also add that I find it rather annoying that funcom will not work on blocking “players” from building under the mesh, but rather ruin pvp altogether. They already made it where you can look up player level, clan and even steam (increasing even more steam trolling and harassment and taking away the fun of hunting the player) and now you wont even be able to find a nice spot to build a well hidden base because funcom believe its needs to “RAT” out all players. This game is going to the dirt. I think Im moving on
@Jens_Erik , please take the word to devs reconsider this change and dont let it make it to live, it will affect deeply the PvP crowd in a negative way.
Posting this again just in case as people can also respond here as well if they have any ideas for changes or ways to improve it or make it so it doesn`t effect the PVP crowd as much.
I think also that this is not a good idea.
While it could be a server-feature that can be turned on or off. But a fix feature implemented in game, that can just be turned off by the player itself, is a no-go for me.
While i may enjoy build bigger bases in some cases, i enjoy also a more solo-playstyle some other moments, where very small and hidden bases are the important thing to survive.
I can understand that this feature may be wished by some, but i can also imagine that others will hate it. So make it simple, and make it optional, but server-side. So it’s a choice when you enter a world or server what gamestyle you will chose and accept.
I’m not against it, but i’m not pleased with it nor.
Like still, this feature should be an option for privat-servers at least.
The past patches have show us all that features that are imposed are mostly hated by a big part of the player-base.
While i can understand that maybe in the past some people asked for a similar feature, i don’t think that a feature like this should be a fix part of the game, and that the majority will accept it with pleasure.
So make it a server-option if you want, but not a full part of the current game.
Please I beg you, as a old player who would really love to return and who loves this game, completely rework the claim system.
Untie the claim system from building blocks, add a carpenter bench that act as the claim block with a minimal radius, the radius increase based on the carpenter thrall you put in.
This will solve ALL claim-spamming issues.
Then afterward you could work on make it that it autorepair very slowly (very very slowly) all connected damaged parts using materials in the bench.
Later you could work a banner/flag system to enlarge the claim radius.
PLEASE
How can anyone be against this rework?
I do not like this idea at all.
I do not want my build to be limited by a placeable (whether it be a carpenters bench or any type of object). I do not want to be forced to put THAT placeable in every structure I want to place. I do not want a limited radius/circle in which to build…forcing my design to be in a set way.
I do not want to be limited in expanding my building by placing items (eg banners or flags) at the edges the area. I do not want to be forced to have structures that do not fit with the aesthetics of my design simply in order to be able to build. I do not like that I’m being forced to place thrall and animal feeding pots out to maintain them and have managed to hide some so they are not seen when approaching my buildings … adding more of this type of “must have” is undesirable.
Whilst I and my clan mate have a habit of connecting most of each base together physically so it’s all one piece for both decay timer renewal but also purge recognition… I really do not want to feel forced to do this by a placeable claim limit building item as you suggest.
Funcom upon many occasions have said they do not want to limit our building capacity or imagination and I see your suggestion doing both in a way I would not like.
And unless the number of claim stations a clan or individual could have placed in the world is limited then it solves nothing. Really what’s the difference between massive structures now covering huge areas of the map and hundreds of “claim workstations” belonging to one person/clan placed as close together as possible ?
Do you play PVP??? This could be a thing for PVP. And you can still build, the difference would be like how we do it in Rust, if you don’t build smart you get your base stolen. ;D
You could still build everywhere, just as anyone could, you just don’t own it until you place the bench, so people of different clans could build stuff togheter with this system, like arenas and such.
Stealing bases like in rust would be so awesome, at least for those of us who didn’t take this game as a minecraft for adults (no offence intended, just stating the obvious, and i play minecraft too)
Think of the PVP’ers please, this game is becoming more and more for role players only.
I like the land claim message as a feature, but agree it should be a server side option and not applied to any of the officials.
The only change request would be for it to pop up less frequently, especially when coming and going from your own base.
On our private PvE server, we reduced the claim radius by 3/4 allowing non clan players to build in communities which worked very nicely, these players would be plagued by messages.
I would really rather see something like the tc from rust. One that doesnt determine ownership but still one that can affect the decay timer and land claim
Thank you for the feedback everyone! The community team is collecting all the feedback from Testlive to give back to the dev team. ![]()
Let me add that we do have someone working on this: both a measure to further prevent players from getting beneath the map and a blocker to prevent them from building. There were already several blockers in place, but some players were able to circumvent these, unfortunately.
Also having a claim cornerstone (like TC in rust) would allow enemy clans or members of different clans to build server structures like arenas and such without the clan ownership problem @SpiralValve

IMO this is a nice idea of a feature, but should NOT! be on PvP servers. Have it active on PvE servers by all means.
It should inform the land owner when someone has entered their teritory on PvP servers and inform players when they enter someone elses teritory as it does now on PvE servers.
Allow me to add my dissonance to the chorus here sharing that this will be a very bad “feature” add on PvP officials, and will devastate those who play the hide and seek small stealth base strategy.
The benefit? Having some clarity around who owns what, where, with a zero cost and zero inconvenience to the sweeping player. The detriment? The ruining of many many “hidey-hole” locations that are cleverly built well outside of plain sight of the average barbarian passerby. A passerby who didn’t even know that they were looking for your stash. ![]()
I would agree with others - if this a method for “fixing” undermesh bases, please scrap this plan, and go back to the drawing board. Do better. This is not your solution for finding undermesh cheaters.
So this post got me to thinking - this might be more palatable if there were some kind of cost involved in invoking this notification system. Perhaps link this with an equipped piece of gear - an eyeglass, or a divining rod. Perhaps an expensive potion that provides this land claim notification system for a short term duration. I would be more okay with the implementing of this system if it required something of the player to turn it on, rather than it being a default, no cost feature.
Another thing that would make this more palatable for me - have this only invoke after you have reached point blank range of the structure in question. For example, let’s say that I am bumming around near the dregs, near the edge of the high southern bluff where someone might be hidden. Rather than give me a notification that someone is here, require me to actually climb my happy exile bottom up the bluff, find the hidden base, and then hard E-key radial on that structure (Interact, Deconstruct, Check Land Claim) to get the notification of where the base’s landclaim starts and stops turned on for 120 seconds. That way - the feature can still allow you the understanding of a given landclaim footprint, but without ruining the hidden base aspect of something will outside of line of sight.
Best option - incorporate this feature into the anticipated sorcery feature. This does smell greatly of divination. Have the cost to use this be getting yourself all corrupted out, and spilling some blood on paper with other reagents, and then lighting it on fire. Again - make it a “spell” with a reasonable cost, and a limited duration to prevent it from being overpowered.
how many features like this should we get only to avoid “cheats”, and “exploits”, “undermeshing” and all these official servers troubles ? How many stuff to make the game still less enjoyable for the players only wanting have some fun and good time.
There will still be cheats and exploits in games also long there are players looking for them.
I can imagine that these “undermesher” or whatever will find an other way to do theyr stuff, but the normal player, one time more, is punished for them.
Building was still an important part of this game. Imagination, like FC said, not limite to it. So what ?
An other poppy-pop-up showing up all 30 sec. when roaming around my base while crafting and trying enjoy my time in game ?
But, can’t you as the player just disable it? It’s in the menu options to do so. For us builders, that’s a relatively easy fix I think.
I don’t know how you play pvp, I’ve been around since day 1, since blitz servers, and loved mayhem when we had them, I ALWAYS carried a repair hammer with me to see who own what.
Mike dropped, jumping off the stage.
