LAVA damage is beyond joke!

, ,

The discussion should not divert to whether lava should cause damage or not, but rather on if it is OK for Thralls to mindlessly dive into lava (which is kind of a stupid recurrent event).

I never lost a Thrall in the volcano because I foreseen it happening and even though I took extra care of it, it happened to me once that one thrall just dived in while I was rock climbing, actually teleported into lava. I was able to save her but I was also lucky to notice it fast.

Lava should only be an issue if thralls get pushed or knocked into lava, not because they think its ok to walk on it.

Until they fix path-finding, they should be immune to lava. It does not add to immersion, it actually kills immersion to see your thrall stand on lava looking at you like an idiot.

A Thrall is a human you repeatedly hit over the head with a truncheon, then chained it and dragged it across stones, sticks, water, cactus, and vicious animals, most likely at about 50 miles an hour while riding a horse, to then tortured it for hours until you broke his will to make it your slave
And you want them to be smart after?:laughing:

Granted that lava can’t instantly kill you but it can kill pets and thralls, well
you as a player should be the smart one here, and that’s all I got to say about that.

How could Funcorm fix Conan?? On a simple topic as lava damage Players can’t agree on.
Feel sorry for the developers :slightly_smiling_face:

My solution to the lava suicide of thralls, was to build a simple 2 square wide chain of sand stone bridges with side guards (fence). Not only does it reduce the thralls intense desire to have that lava bath, but it makes it much better to travel to and from the obelisk to the dungeon. May not be effective in them pvp servers, but works well in single player and private servers

.

I have never lost a thrall in the Volcano, even when lava was insta kill. Here’s what I’ve been doing:

I separate the Volcano into two areas. The east and west.

I enter the west side to go to the Well of Skelos, I usually come up from the Dragonmouth entrance. Sometimes my thrall will take a little damage, but not more than 1/8th of their health.

I enter the east side through the south or obelisk. I use this side for collecting obsidian, goldstone, and modded materials from the area. I also use this to collect thralls occasionally.

It seems most of you are going from the obelisk to the well and getting your thralls cooked that way. Look into the routes I listed and try those instead. Or do like someone suggested and build a bridge.

It’s almost like the floor is lava and that’s designed to kill you. May I suggest either being more careful with followers or not bringing them to the volcano? Intentionally hazardous area is intentionally hazardous

It’s going back a while but I lost a thrall going through the west side once, admittedly at the time I wasn’t expecting him to just ignore the bridge and attempt to walk through lava  that was the first and only time I attempted to take a follower to the volcano.

And yet each thread that pops up about this topic is chock-full of people tripping over each other to point out how silly we are to complain about a bug in path-finding

The thing that I’ve always found odd is that thralls are afraid of swimming and climbing, in those cases they use their teleportation skills, but lava doesn’t scare them

“Water, eww! It looks so cold. And my clothes get wet. No go!”

“Climb up that? I’m not Spider-Man, boss.”

“Lava hot. Hot means good, right?” sizzle “Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!”

You mean, your body would burst into steam

Here is the thing

This topic is not to question how much the lava damage realistic compare to a real world lava.
What im trying to explain, compare to how much damage a player takes from, let’s say bug Quenn full burst, even with antidote on hot wheel I still don’t have time to use it because it kills me so fast, however a Thrall can take it in the face like,Dolly Buster, not having too much damage.

Now compare to this, you go in the Volcano, player takes not so much damage, but as soon as Thrall walks in it, even with over 10k+ HP and in 1.2 sec, he/she is out
GG

Now you can say how poison works and how lava works, but than you missing a point, don’t compare just Thrall to poison/lava, try to look at the big picture and compare player/Thrall, together to lava/poison.

Now if you do that you have to realise something is wrong.

I believe the following AI needs to be fixed, not how much damage player or Thrall takes
