LAVA damage is beyond joke!

, ,

No, our thralls are not children. Children actually learn with experience. Our thralls are stupider than children.

Is it not acceptable to you guys that something can actually kill thralls?

I don’t think strawmen will help with this discussion. Yes, it’s acceptable that something can kill thralls. Inability to comprehend obvious environmental hazards is not among those.

I’m thinking of carrying a follower through the high risk lava areas (pick up and place on guard, then repeat) I don’t know if it will actually work and I’ll have to remember to put them back on guard upon returning home, but in their current state it seems like the safest option other than going alone :grimacing:

You forgot map rooms, elevators, drowning in Sunken city, weird falling damage and maybe a few more that I haven’t seen because of their stupid AI

An alternative could be that they move as a sort of ghost in your footprint just a bit behind you, the downside would be that this wouldn’t be optimal in a lot of other situations, but I agree with OP that it doesn’t really make sense that they would choose to walk through lava and lose health a lot faster than you do

Yeah sort of like the horse

I have only refreshed the last couple of weeks because I lost 3 high level thralls in a couple of days after the big thrall update, so I’m not really in the mood to test it out

This is why Funcom has a forum FULL of complaint’s, bugs and issues. Their AI is only as smart as the people who programmed them. And you see how that turned out. Remember every hotfix or patch here breaks something else so be careful what you ask for.

I NEVER take thralls to the volcano, for the same reason I NEVER ride an elevator with one following. Whether it gets fixed or not, I have options to deal with it so I deal. Bugs should be resolved yes, but knowing that the bugs exist and finding a way to mitigate is the other half of the battle.

Thralls are quite fine in the underwater dungeon. They don’t breathe apparently.

I have gone to the Sunken City probably 20 times with thralls at least. Never ONCE has a thrall drown or even taken damage from drowning. Please provide evidence of this. I have also gone with other people who have brought their thralls and their thralls also never drown or taken any damage due to drowning. Hell, I don’t even use breathing potions and can make it to every single area just fine (some barely before taking damage but still, no breathing potion necessary).

Dungeon is therefore NOT a solo task.

The only problem I have with thralls in the underwater dungeon is that sometimes, they stop following and get stuck. The other day I died fighting the big frog in the poison gas and my thrall finished him off while I was returning and I could not get my thrall to resume following me. I’ve also had a thrall get stuck on the platform after fighting the first hyper fish man… As you say I’ve never had one die in the sunken city, but they can sometimes wig out on you and have erratic follow behavior.

Thankfully I’ve not had that myself there, but I’ve had that in other places. Honestly, I think that’s just thralls being thralls LOL. But I haven’t been there since the last thrall update so maybe I’ll head over there today.

Really its just bad pathing for thralls in the Volcano. I take one all the time with me but keep them on a very tight follow distance but its a huge job to watch them, if the pathing was fixed the instant kill would be fine. Of course it does not help that thrall are stupid as stone.

As a solo pve player, on PS4 console, I take thralls with me to use as packrats. The last time I ran the Sunken City my T4 Bearer thrall died while I was exiting the Sunken City. The thralls don’t follow you into any of the underwater areas but get stuck waste high in water by the beach. Therefore it is a solo Dungeon. There have been many posts on these forums where a player has lost a follower either entering or exiting the location.

Over the past 2 years the only time that a thrall died on me was when I was not prepared for a battle. In the last 6 months I had not lost any followers, until 3 weeks ago. Out of the blue and for no apparent reason, I have had 3 fully levelled, fully geared followers die while following.

Just because you have been lucky enough to have been spared from this “bug”, others have not been so lucky, it does happen on a regular basis. If you want proof read the posts.

Did all 3 of those fully leveled fully geared followers die while following you in the Sunken City? If so, why did you have them following you there if, according to you this has been an issue for years (even though the dungeon is not even two years old). And you are only providing anecdotal evidence which fully constricts the anecdotal evidence provided by myself and darthphysicist. I fail to see what proof you are actually bringing. If you are referring to the “bug” where thralls have been getting killed while following that has nothing at all to do with the sunken city as that happens ANYWHERE on the map. So by that logic, the entire map is a solo only zone.

i think the issue “gamer00600” is talking about is relatively new and it can happen after every loading screen with a thrall on follow. Some have even reported it may happen by Simply wandering around on the map.

Ignasis has already relayed it to the dev team and untill this issue is dealt with i would advice everyone to not take a thrall with into dungeons even if the issue only happen like 1% of the time.

You can Always have a look here:

Lava life matters!!

Actually…… with an active Volcano like this one, lava would be your last worry. Between the ash, CO2, Sulfur Dioxide, and some other fun gases. There should be no living thing there anyways.

The dagoon dungeon is bugged. Your follower does not follow you correctly underwater , you cannot see the inventory of your thrall and the prisoners are no longer your allies. About lava @CodeMage said it 1.000 times, thralls must be immune to lava and i agree.

I haven’t lost a thrall in the Volcano, ever, because I’m aware of the risks and guide my thrall with care. That doesn’t change the fact that the thrall should be aware of the risks, too. Never mind the damage, it’s immersion-breaking to see a grown-up adult (even with brain damage I may have caused) test the warmth of the lava with their toe.

Yep. That’s even more immersion-breaking. But, as my character seems to be equally fine running naked in the desert and in snow, I’m guessing we’re descendants from the planet Krypton or something.

Lava is good and works better compared to a few updates before, that was instant death by a touch.
Now my thralls are all surviving, which is stupid in my opinion but many gamers where complaining and part of it I can understand.

The current solution is great, you should die in the lava in the first place and comparing it to poison…
Well, a bucket of lava on you and you won’t survive.
Bucket of poison on you and you might survive, pretty logic to me.
