Greetings,
today i spot on steam info about upcoming age of heroes, and its write there what workers will give bonuses to any station in range 140m (54 fundaments).
Earlier durning twitch was say it was around 19 fundaments range. That distance also mean take free chair or bed in that range?
I affraid if that distance is increased to 54 fundaments there might be problems in online servers where often player bases are close each other or ppl just might for trolling place chair outside base to force workers exit base and use them. Or if not troll, workers might just go to other player base in range that 54 fundaments?
Yes, and huge NO!!
54 foundations is absolutely huge distance in gameā¦
āSet them to follow you, move them around, and place them on chairs, beds, and many other interactable placeables made available in this chapter. But remember, they will prioritize their needs and may insist on moving accordingly.ā
54 foundations wide mess. And player character(s) among them. Sounds chaos. Sounds exploits. Sounds bugs. Sounds micromagament (to move and clear themā¦).
In Sims kind of games this works. You do not walk on world with your workforce.
WHY OāWHY
Why not to add slider (like combat thralls have: follow, attack distance etc.) And let players decide how far these idiots go.
Zero distance would be my option.
If now will be 54 foundations instead 19, i remodel base to place wall before main gate that allow me easy climb over and workers will not exit base to go take seat in neighbour player base.
Thatās the way to go in my opinion. Allow us to determine the radius, please.
You all are about a month late.
We went over all this weeks ago, find those old threads.
Not everyone live in future.
Thread is considering news/update that came out 24. September which is 2 days ago.
Future? If you didnāt know what was going on in Conan a few weeks ago you must ignore everything Conan related on youtube, not read the forums, or not read anything Conan related on X.
The thread for the age of heroes update to the beta servers hit the forum 23 days ago.
Even the steam forum had an announcement thread for the update hitting the beta sever.
Iām sorry, it may be a me thing, but if Iām playing a game I do try to keep up with it. Iāll be active on the discord and official forum.
But then I have seen plenty of threads started when there was an update by people who were furious they couldnāt log in to the game āyou all need to fix your gameā.
This is from a month ago
IMO players aught to at least try to keep up with the game they are playing.
I am sorry @Xanathoss that I brought troll in this thread And even gave it a food by stating what was whole point of this thread. Not how well players should be informed. Not news from 20 + days ago BUT update/news in Steam: things have changed since last offical announcement: from 19 to 54 foundations. Quite a change.
How these kind of changes can happen so fast. I havenāt found any wishes, not in this forum, Steam etc. that players (on public beta) have wishlisted to bring bigger radius.
It smell like Devs are in trouble with performance. And solution is to give bigger radius that fewer crafter could handle larger area? So no thrall limit changes (?) but radius change. I can only imagine the effect in PvP serversā¦
Players in chat on the beta want it smaller, so your assumptions are wrong.
Please provide links to your information.
Iām abrasive, not a troll.
I still feel itās in the players best interest to keep track of game changes and announcements, and why I want links to info I donāt have.
Maybe Iām misremembering about the radius changeā¦ Iām confused.
Anyway, you have to consider many variables in this.
Not every player is as devoted to CE as perhaps you or I would be.
Communication does not overlap in every space in the same period.
Social media is heavily run by algorithms and is a catered experience.
Not everyone has social media updates enabled.
Everyone potentially views the forum differently. I.e.: I always go from the parent CE and I see everything. Some might only stay in PS, Xbox or PC.
Tools and functions of any space are not always acknowledged or realized individually.
Some of these can be much more involved or elaborate conversations. Either way, it comes down to: is the communication done well, is how it is presented well understood, is it concise and easily obtained? Then when you throw in time and preferences, it can make it much more complicated. With the way things are, none of the expectations from the company itself are at par. As it is, something as simple as a complete statement of a change is missed in patch notes. Or even becoming informed about all the issues, Iāve submitted 55 bug reports aloneā¦ Sifting through all that to get a simple question answered from a new feature in Beta thread would be cumbersome.
This is truly the core problem.
I have never missed any update information of Paradoxās Stellaris. I donāt follow any other media than Steam considering that game. If I have missed something. No worries, the game forces me to read a pop up at the launch. If something essential has changed I can just quit the game and open older version and continue my save game. No need to be social media junkie or something.
What comes to Funcom. It is different story. If public relations strategy is: start from the oldest post and read everything or be mentalist and know how to search essential information. ā nightmare.
And altogether Funcoms direction feels a bit aimless. If such an important factor as roaming radius increases over double size in short term. And no one has demanded it, at least I have not seen any demands. (other than fearful discussion about thrall limit, which might be the essence of this whole change.)
So if you read upcoming update information now it might be completely different story next month. 19 ā 54 is quite a leap. Without explanation.
Still waiting on those links.
Newest radius:
And old radius, month ago:
But 50 to 140 meters is a leap. Big one.
btw Dennisās answer is golden at 1 hour of stream. How wide is the foundations? Answer sums up why development of Exiles is such a āfunā to watch.
Interesting, I hadnāt even noticed it was on the launcher.
But I have been critical in the past and I think it is worth mentioning again: cross post all updates everywhere including the forums so nothing is missed by anyone
Read thru and it says for bonuses:
āwithin a 140m radius (about 54 foundation blocks).ā
Ok so currently itās about 10 foundations away, I made a line all the way to the edge of the cliff as you can see hereā¦
That is crazy if it is what they intend.
The artisan bench is where the bonus currently ends.
I try follow overall most important info about age of heroes that interest me.
I watched dev stream where dennis talk about distance of that 19 foundations where thall work with station, even wak and eradication confirm it durning tests on their YT videos.
I just open this thread because that huge range increase worried me, and i post this right after info appear in steam store.
And what worry me, what was reason to open this thread, that range can be wrongly used. Simplest reason. PlayerA have base with workers, PlayerB build outpost/base near that is in range of that 54 foundations, and might happen that PlayerA workers might exit base and come sit on chair in PlayerB base.
This might lead for trolling like lure away workers and kill them by players or monsters.
read the whole post - he says he didnāt find any mention of anyone wanting it bigger ā¦
already in the first video about this feature they explicitly said about 20 foundations - but in the last article (the link to it is in the launcher) it says 54 foundations which is a hell of a difference
Before I got into some other things and since I canāt reliably play on the beta server right now, I figured Iād get a better test done.
Here I am pretty much in the middle of a square:
54 foundations outwards on all sides:
Hereās a tower in the middle seen from the 54th foundation:
Hereās Iblis of Zingara, an Alchemist:
It is currently 19 foundations:
This means that the circle, if changed to 54 foundations, will take up about 3/4s of a map square:
Huge, just hugeā¦
