No not the world. I’ve suggested this before but been a while.
I’d like to see the in game map redone, updated.
Needs a new/expanded legend.
More icons and simple colored dots.
The ability to turn off temple/POI icons.
I know there are a lot of paths in game, be nice if they could be highlighted; for those of us that get lost walking out the front door.
And as much as I’d love a mini map I don’t expect one, but a primitive compass would be nice.
Seriously when was the last time the in game map was updated? When the actual map was?
The map is perfect as it is. It’s even too good.
It’s supposed to be a hand made map of Exiled Lands not a Google maps app.
It’s game of exploration and hide and seek, all the major POI are marked already.
If anything, they wanted the map to look nice, and I’d make it even less detailed and more like a hand made sketch. And I’d add fog of war over it, so player cant see unexplored regions.
You guys are simply bored and pick on ridiculous unimportant things while dev’s resources are very limited and far stretched.
Wake up guys…
We’re not asking to see the points of interest which have yet to be explored, we are asking to be able to hide the ones we have unlocked. It’s far from being unreasonable. Same for the altars. It might be nice for people to see them in PvP, but they truly pollute the readability of the map in PvE (some clans have up to four altars!). So having the option to hide them would be life changing, and would not have any impact on the players who want to keep them anyway.
By the way, we are wide awake. You deem those demands unimportant, but that topic was not brought yesterday, it is something the players have wanted before. If the dev’s resources were so limited as to not be able to make simple changes, then a lot of changes woud not have happened in this game. Eg: the orb of nergal and the add of bright colorants, the illusion system… Who the heck cares about looks and skins in a survival game? Still, those “unimportant” demands were fullfilled to please the community at some point. So let us ask.
If it was a hand made map it would be up to me to mark temples or POIs, I’d also have free hand markers so far more possible icons. And since I can make dye I aught to be able to make colored dots on my map.
That’s a different case, you look at your character all the time, you interact with other players and want to look unique. But map? For me the map is a tool I use only when I need to find a lost thrall. I don’t know how removing icons from it is a game changer for you, but I can understand that other people have other needs.
I’d be good with a refresh of the icon system and personally, I’d like to see fog of war added to emphasize that we’re in a new uncharted territory. There’s a great mod by amunets that does it but its something I’ve always wanted as base game.
Indeed, the map should be more obfuscated (fog of war) not less. Until you explore something you should have no visibility. Of course there are offline maps.
It’s obvious from the relief shown where there are ravines and such between higher and lower areas. The few actual paths aren’t very important.
Learning and exploring is a really fun part of the game.
By now, who hasn’t yet memorized every single path?
Fog of War might be a good feature for newcomers, but who still uses the map outside of pvp?
I would prefer having the already few human resources allocated elsewhere…
Btw, if you guys are on PC and play with mods, @Xevyr has a great minimap mod.
Exiles should be navigating by landmarks. If there is any sort of map in game it should be a physical item placed on a table or wall. Maybe an item that you can hold in your hand done in the best artistic style a convict fresh off a cross can come up with.
I do. First because I have a very poor sense of direction, both irl and ig. Mental map navigation, route-landmark navigation… either way it is, I think my lobes skipped those lessons when they were developping. Secondly, because that’s how I can find about my clan mate’s location and meet with him.
I will mention that on Playstation using your in-game map and character Icon as to where you are facing is broken you can stop and check multiple times and go around circles. Was attempting to get back to FOB during a surge I had outpost marked ended up relying on players bases for a sense of direction. A simple compass would be a plus just to keep you in going in the general direction especially when in flight with surge beasts nipping at you. @E.y
The map reflects your characters facing, NOT your camera direction.
So it doesn’t matter what you “look” at in the game, as long as you don’t start moving forward so your character actually faces that way, the indicator won’t turn on the map.
Just in case it wasn’t a bug and you were trying to rotate your camera expecting the icon to change. (don’t have a playstation to test, but if it was that bugged I imagine there would be a ton of reports on it.)
