If thralls get nerf. Then nerf bosses, enemies and etc. Since most players will ignore charisma.
I disagree.
Before we do that, I would like to play the new stats to see if the bumps to the player counters the thrall nerf.
But the issue for this is MMO’s encourage teamwork and so you will have over the top bosses that are just difficult to do solo. By nerfing bosses for solo player enjoyment, do you reduce the enjoyment of clans and teams? If there is disagreement (which I believe there is on a root level), which one should the company lean towards? If they are saying this is an MMO game, then it’s clear it needs to be hard bosses that teams can deal with, but if it’s solo then the teams are just going to have to deal with easier bosses.
I agree with your disagreement . What I will add is to bring back again the ability to open legendary chests to lvl 60. All the other crafted weapons are useless now, except stone… Really? Make Conan difficult again.
I’m thinking the legendaries are going to go through a drastic change with the attribute changes.
I have a much more elegant solution to the issue you brought up:
Here you can see that Hardened Steel One-Handed weapons requires the feat used to create Steel versions. You’ll also notice that all of the feats have been cleaned up and condensed. This saves the player nearly a hundred feat points if they wanted to unlock all weapons. It also rebalances the tiers by material as well as condenses them.
My solution isn’t entirely comprehensive as Ancient weapons were moved to level 30 (and have damage comparable to level 30 weapons). I would have wanted to do tiers at 1, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 55, and 60. But it was way more work to do that than just do 1, 10, 30, 50, and 60. And I didn’t see a point in having more tiers than less due to how fast you can level at even 0.5x exp rates (which is what the server uses that the mod was developed for).
But the result is a much smoother leveling experience that each tier does matter and you feel like you are actually progressing. It also couples well with the fashionist mod for when players want a specific look of a weapon and the stats of another.
The point is that if you know this game a little, just a little, you can have legendary weapons straight after stone ones…
It didn’t use to be this way.
How many players have to reset their feat points anymore?
Allowing usage of skeleton keys before 60, is a game breaker decision.
So I am asking you @Taemien that you know before and now, what was best? And spare me my dear friend with pros and cons, we both know them, what do you prefer is my question, as Taemien gamer when it comes to this, the old system or the new? My answer is obvious I guess. Looking forward for yours.
Neither is best.
For a new player nothing really changed. The average new player. They see these big nasties and pretty much avoid them and do other stuff. When they feel they can take them on, usually around 60 (since at 1.x rates is quite quick, even for the ignorant), then they get a key and a shiny weapon. This works in the old system and the new system.
For veteran players is where the real change is. And it wasn’t much of a change to be honest. Even before I could get legendaries before 60, I usually skipped the mid tiers anyway. Now the result is with a little practice I can get an early jump if I choose to. And this is something our speedrunning community engages in as well.
So for me personally:
Old-way: Stone, Star Metal, Legendary
New-way: Stone, Legendary, Siptah
The mid tier has been irrelevent since the beginning. I have a solution to it. And I disagree that the old way was better. But I won’t say it was worse either. Since there is little change between the two ways, I don’t think they should make decision between one or the other.
I would say that some thought into a solution towards making the midtier worthwhile (without forcing the players hand arbitrarily) is a better route. My solution handles this somewhat well by not forcing players to spend more feat points (I believe they spend 3 less on average, or around 600ish less if they want to play collector). But admittedly my solution needs polish. But for my purposes it is good enough.
On Siptah, you could just spawn on the beach, swim to the Isle of Dawn, find a solitary Grey One spawn and kick it to death until one drops a Grey One weapon. No need to bother with stone weapons or anything in between.
Or run to Arno’s Prospect and with luck, grab a Hardened Steel weapon just lying around, then go kill Grey Ones with it.
As to the opening post I have two comments:
- As Sherlock Holmes said, it is a capital mistake to speculate without all the evidence. Before crying for nerfs, perhaps we should first see how the new system works.
- Trolls are not part of the Conan lore, so they shouldn’t exist in the game or on the forums.
Not too bothered if bosses are spongey. But it bothers me that regular mobs are. Especially the high end skeletons with vicious weapon combos that have twice to thrice the health pool of many builds. Manageable on their own or a pair, but get swarmed at a bad time and it becomes a stamina-burning kiting phase.
We were beating these Bosses with 3-4k thralls before and still can… will be fine.
Totally agree on this one. However they do exist in the game, a lot. About the forum, I tend to be silly, I still can’t understand trolling in here unless the troller will reveal himself. I don’t personally need it, so I don’t use it, simple as that.
After all, trolling is a new wave, hey my basket ball super star is Jordan, so I’ll pass.
I agree with your agreement of his disagreement!

I agree…
I completely agree. Until we actually see what effect the thrall nerf actually has there is no reason to run screaming to the hill to nerf everything else in sight as well. I mean, as it is, does anything in the game actually challenge your thralls that a nerf would make them completely useless?
Well, there are multiple issue on this one. For one since you cannot actually form groups and even within the same clan you can straight up damage and kill your other clan mates the idea of MMO style team work is not very encouraging (especially with the major nerf to healing we already had). Furthermore, there is a large enough population of players either on servers who prefer to play solo or who just play the game in single player mode that would be completely destroyed by going this route. So personally, I hope that they NEVER go this way.
They were not designed to be anything but solo playable so this isn’t really a factor. You can do pretty much any content in the game as is with yourself and 1 thrall. So you shouldn’t have to “nerf” the content to a solo player level when it was originally designed that way. You would just be balancing it back to the way it was designed to be.
Well, since it has been Funcom’s policy to make the game available for everyone, solo players included, then that is pretty much the answer. Make it hella challenging for them sure, but doable.
This has never been an MMO game. That is what Age of Conan is for. This is a survival game. If you want bosses that require teamwork with up to 24 players to complete, go play Age of Conan.
So, that is my opinion on the matter. This has never been an MMO and it never will be thus the bosses should not be altered to reflect that type of game. The in game systems are not even designed to make it feasible or even enjoyable as they are anyway so why alienate an entire population of players?
Well I love my void forged weapon.
Ok it’s a legendary weapon that you can build yourself, but I put a lot of effort into making it have a DMG of 100 and not just 78 DMG.
I would also be for smarter bosses and that they dodge sometimes.
Or make AoE attacks or that they can call minions like in the dungeon in Sepermeru.
I haven’t tested it yet, but don’t you only get the skeleton keys from bosses at LVL 60?
If you can kill them, they drop them now.
Some did that earlier in the Exiles Land.
You just had to kill them more often.
Sword of Crom, Sword of the Drunkard, Axe of the Executioner, Bane of Yog, Unwelcome Gift and many more.
So nothing new for me.
They’ve dropped keys for… forever? I tend killed them with cannon fooder thralls I need get rid of by time I’m in my lv40’s.
You just couldnt use keys till lv60 till they removed that. (which was nice, since you could by pass it by someone jumping it for you. XD) Nice to be able to claim your award instead of hoarding keys.
Abunch of weapons etc all drop when ever, if your able kill them. Don’t thinks thats ever been changed.
I have base on newbie zone on eastern edge, and you Gaint Boss snake sin purge drop keys, there not to hard to handle.
