I think the difference between PvP and PvE is, that people in PvP having no problem losing buldings and in PvE you dont have many layers of foundation around a base…

I have never had the 2 side thing. Might jsut be lucky. They always spawn as 1 group for me.

I am hit regularly at my Jungle base from 2 to 3 sides at once. Now try defending that with limited thralls and huge area your trying to cover.

Every purge I have been through has been them coming from two directions.

Was also a jungle base… And in my mainbase they even came from 3 sides… But hey, 1 thrall should be enough /s

That brings up a good point. When my bases get raided the attackers bring in one thrall each and that one thrall kills all my thralls. What is going on there? How can one player thrall overcome 12-15 defending thralls of the same type who should be attacking in groups of 6 to 8?

See, that’s the problem I am talking about. Conan Exiles is obviously heavily scripted and balanced to allow raiders to always succeed when they attack a player who is offline. Which is when 99 out of 100 raids occur in Exiles. The only time I was raided when I came back online during the raid attempt, the raiders fled instantly.

So it’s not a question of your companion thrall slaughtering all before it. They do that now. It’s why do my defending thralls stand there and do nothing when I am offline and getting raided? I mean I go to thrall camps and they rush me in force, pin me to a wall like a well oiled machine, and hack me to bits or chase me for hundreds of yards. There is no one online for them but they work fine. Why do my base guard thralls not do the same? There are only 30 of them in a given location. I don’t have 100 thralls deployed anywhere. Total for the entire Exiles map is about 60-70 if that. I say this more for the Devs though so they understand how small a number you can have and they still do not function.

The Purge is not different, the buildings are. I was told by experienced PVP players that my builds on PVE-C look great, but wouldn’t last a single day on a PVP server. They’re big, they’re sprawling, they’re climbable, they’re eminently raidable and they’re impractical to defend from an attack coming from two or more sides.

Every Purge I’ve had in the last few months has spawned groups of enemies from at least two different spawning points, in each wave. Sure, I’m confident that my T3 buildings will be able to withstand some damage from one group while I’m fighting another, but it’s a major pain in the ass.

Let me make this perfectly clear: I’m not complaining because I’m unable to defend the territory I’ve “conquered”. I’m complaining precisely because I’m able to defend it now, but I might not be able to do so after the update. That’s the whole point of giving feedback.

Thank you, that’s precisely my point. I don’t put 400 followers in a single base and I don’t want to. I don’t exploit bugs or performance flaws to hurt other players and I don’t want to. There are better ways of dealing with those who do, without hurting those of us who don’t.

Holy smoke, dude! What a majestic build! Can you tell me what server that’s on? I swear I would create a char on that server just to go there and visit. And take a boatload of screenshots, too :wink:

If you like that your gonna love my new Capital fortress setup. With the new thrall changes coming I am glad we started moving forward on it as it is forcing us to condense into one area now.


All this is part of the reason why I am pushing so hard for Funcom to allow us to pick all our thralls up and store them away for a rainy day.

I had one attack that started with imps and ended with a big red dragon. Somewhere in between I was down the hill fighting 11 big bat bosses and minions, when I idly hit my event log. Baby dragons busting my map room base. At that point I had to split my forces into two and run up there to save what was left. With lower available numbers, and my losses, I’d have needed three or more replacement followers in my pocket, so to speak.

Yeah, we had one the other day on our Ice fortress that started with wolves and ended with the big white dragon at the end. We where getting hit from 2 different sides. Dragon was able to do some damage before we could get to him.

Unlikely, 10 separate clans and each person brings their thrall follower? Your thralls will be attacking your allies and their followers, it will be a total crap show. You wont be able to use other bases, there are all kinds of issues with what your saying.

I’ve got a base in NE A9 that gets hit by Cimmerian Beast-Tamers about 3x a week. It’s just south of the northern-most of the giant trees. In this location, during virtually every wave I will get attackers from the west (i.e. where 2 relic hunters keep vigil on a cliff) as well as down the steep hill to the east. Additionally, during at least one or two waves there will be some enemies who approach from the south.

Thankfully, I’ve never had purges spawn atop the roof of this base nor indoors, but they have with the exact same floorplan in other areas of the map when I was testing other locations.

as an pve player on xbox one i am really happy about the new limit. my neighbor has a pretty small base, but he obviously loves to tame animals… the complete area around is base is stuffed with tamed animals… hundreds maybe thousend… if i come close to his base everything starts lagging and stops loading. once my game crashed when i came close and all enimals ran towards me to greet me xD

and although i dont play pvp… this update makes good, strong thralls more important than farming the easy middle strong ones, which is a nice thing for this game i think. of course everyone will complain who already has hundreds of thralls… thats how humans work xD

I just want to point out that some of us are not complaining just because we have hundreds of thralls, but because we have valid reasons that we have explained here and in numerous other threads :wink:

I know that reading long threads is boring, but if you don’t, please do me the courtesy of not assuming I’m just complaining because I like to whine :smiley:

Worst case scenario we can always go back to the old way of “protecting” the main building from the purge by building a bunch of small house around to map to increase the chances that the purge hit one of those random houses instead of the actual large base.

Nope. The way people defended there bases the last time they broke the thralls was with the wall palisades. The amount of them around a base will cause even more lag and trolling
