I won’t change your mind, and you won’t change mine. You won’t change mine because I have played other games that have done it right, and it’s the reason why those games are so enjoyable. I can hop on ark right now, find my character, and move to a new server with friends. You are assuming it would ruin things. But since things aren’t really hard to acquire, trading isn’t really necessary. So imagine bing able to cross server raid, but once you do, you have to wait 24 hours to go back to your server.
Plus the fact they have multiple maps, that you can… wait for it… transfer to!
you are right, you wont change my mind. trolling is a major issue in Conan and I would never support cross server because of that fact alone. If you want to play a new server go level up and play. Honestly most of the fun is in leveling not sitting at 60
Most of the fun is doing new things. Taking on new challenges, not the same boring grind over and over. Plus, trolls aren’t that big of an issue. They can easily add a system in to make server transfers fun and well balanced against trolls.
Timers for when you can transfer back, decay timer changes if someone is built on 2 servers or more, plus communities would be born. People can ask others to wipe their alpha for them because the alpha of their server might be a bunch of jerks raiding everyone.
they are the single biggest issue (along with hackers and other cheaters who’d have a field day with this kinda bulls----), and I stay behind this opinion
It might be an option to use the keystone to move between servers, taking nothing with you.
- Jumping server to server doesn’t guarantee new things. its just finding different enemies.
- Going to a new server and leveling up is a new challenge as much as coming in hot as a level 60 if server jump was there. Even more challenging if you are spotted by a former enemy before you can get a foot hold on new server. Alpha will surely pay a visit to squash you before you gain momentum.
- Trolls are always an issue. Trolls have one goal, to ruin fun for a group. Don’t understand why, but they do. So to think that a troll clan would not jump around and kill noobs on every server is under estimating them. They aren’t there to fight high levels. They are their to bully lower levels. Giving them free reign with level 60’s all over the place would kill servers quickly.
2nd’ed
I agree, trolls are terrible. But do you seriously believe that they can do enough damage to EVERY noob on EVERY server in a quick amount of time? When you have a low player count in your clan, and you aren’t very informed about everything in the game, people tend to find others to help them.
Just recently I recruited 2 people who were together, but they were getting beaten down, and they didn’t exactly have full knowledge of the game. So I asked them to join me and they did right away. Since then they have learned a lot, gained insane skill in PvP combat, and have helped my grind like crazy.
And jumping server to server does guarantee new things and challenges. You face up against different fighting styles, different bases to face up against. Leaders with different tactics in defense and offense.
The fact that you think grinding back up to 60 over and over is a more enjoyable challenge, then you clearly have no idea what it’s like. nor do you know what it’s like to be in a game like Conan, and jump server to server to seek refuge, and/or seek a new base to destroy. If you will not fight to survive and conquer, then you simply stop fighting. Grinding to 60, is NOT fighting
I would not wipe the servers, but…here my 3 cents:
- I would have for official servers a distributed database ONLY for characters-levels based on the game mode
- I would bring back blitz game mode ( monthly fully wiped servers, builds and chars)
- I would bring back mayhem servers with full building destruction 24/7 but with soft wipe every month (soft wipe = only buildings)
With number 1 we will have no problems to cut down on servers quantity, don’t need to buy new servers because you char can be on any one server of a certain gamemode without losing progression.
Blitz and mayhem can be set from unused servers once the distributed database works, no need to buy more servers.
I know it’s never going to happen, but hey I can dream right?
I think that completely depends on how one plays such a game.
I for myself grow tired of a game when the base is set up and upped to highest tier with noone around. Thats just boring.
Aside of that, I actually like building a new toon and having some challange because lvl 10 isnt that certain to slaughter asagarth or MotD instead of being slaughtered. Once a high level is reached pve is easy.
We are currently playing on a german RP-PVP server with a couple mods. It’s not rented by us and we were just happy to find any server fitting our criteria. Sure RP wasnt on the wishlist of any of us, but well…
I dont know if its due to Pippi, AoCalamitious or Sexiles, but cats are a nightmare! The white one straight oneshots me. (Due to bleed)
Thats nowhere near official when it comes to the pve content.
Other than that I encountered an interesting player today, who explained to me how his hits are performed this fast. And seeing how he seems to have honed his way of fighting, he really got these claimed >2k hours in pvp - and actually fighting. I simply cannot keep up with him, thats just it.
So I am proud of myself having taken (almost?) half of his life in a no loot and no healing set up fight. I wont go into detail why I feel that way.
Huge fault in your thinking there. Those alphas who like to supress and harass everyone are the ones who would hop servers. At least I expect that.
Noone is talking about normal serves being wiped every now and then - but rather to have Funcom change a few (dead ones) to seasonal servers - guys like BTRR would love mayhem coming back too, so that is why I suggested that on top. Basically what you mean by blitz servers, while I honestly think that wipes every 30 or 60 days are way too often - but thats only me.
What about 3.: Just change decay to max 72 hours on these servers. No need for wipes then…
yes, but who’s to stop me from wiping them. I’m pretty sure if you look at every pvp official server, there are a lot that are at 0 players most of the time. Those servers usually have an alpha sitting there. I’m pretty confident that there are more of those bored alphas, than there are noobs trying to build up.
It’s as simple as just being on to defend during raid hours. The best defense, is a player being on to defend. No troll has ever gotten the better of me because of this.
If there are troll alphas, then eventually, they can and will be wiped by other alphas.
I think we’re talking officials, so anyone who is NOT playing officials shouldn’t have the right to talk, they have their right to their own opinion of course, but shouldn’t be involved into any type of voting for those of us who actually use/play officials.
It’s like asking a vegan to have a date at a butcher shop.
They can’t rid servers of trolls punks ,griefers now you expect them to protect from cross server raiders. Not happening.Stay out of the Koolaid
I never understood people who play PvP games and wine about griefing…I would understand in PvE, but in PvP griefing is implied and it’s part of the fun…
Yes i have no idea what it is like to grind to 60 over and over. I don’t know what it’s like to be in a game like Conan. I just come here never having done either of these. I guess i am just griefing you.
But seriously, i have leveled up multiple times, and have done it the old fashioned explore and take my time way, and done it in 8-10 hrs game time (no cheating either…just focused on xp crafting and journeys). Have helped multiple clan members do it in 3 hours with my xp method. People who have done the quick xp know this. So grinding is not really that bad. Been an alpha (might still be, but i really hate that term. I prefer oldest most rich clan on server).
You come off as unbeatable and way over confident. You have never been trolled properly. Brimstone lake blockade, daily 1 wall bombings, sandstone spamming.
Hidden shacks just to make the 20+ bombs i need. Can flip a tnt and execute in 2 hours of game play. Any day i want. Then can log on and just hang out in my base eating and drinking every so often, and watch a movie in RL, knowing that you are keeping one eye out for me because of these other things. You may last thru it, but noobs would get tired of looking for brimstone, and not having places to build. They would call on you to help clear land. And that’s not using one cheat or exploit.
Your comments on facing new challenges and such applies to both ideas. Regrinding from 60, or server jumping. It is more challenging in my eyes to do it while leveling up. Jumping servers is the easy way tbh. It would be more troll like. Jump in, blow up some alphas when they are aren’t expecting it, then leave. No risk, because you aren’t tied to their server. If you grind up, you might make friends, have something worth defending to an extent.
It could be same as ark. Go in, blow up the alpha, then they see (so and so from server ____ blew up ____) Place a timer of how long you have to wait to be able to transfer servers again. You are ignoring the fact that I made of how many bored alphas there are. They want to stick to what they have already spent time acquiring. They want big pvp fights, with Gods, bombs, trebs, mass amounts of players. There are so many that are just sitting there bored.
A lot of people will get slammed, yes. But this also opens up servers for some new clans that don’t have to worry about an alpha just sitting there ruling over everything because it was a dead server. Either way, if you get wiped from server jumpers, or you move to a server where the alpha was just wiped, it’s easy to restart as you say. So what’s the problem? It’s PvP for crying out loud.
Being bound to one server is not very PvP freindly, it forces more PvE, and if they want people to do more PvE, then they should add harder dungeons, and give their players reasons to go to the dungeon over and over.
If they can’t defend themselves, then merging with another clan so they can all work together, is always an option. I’ve always hoped one day I can take my clan, and 2 other clans from my server to go raid another populated server, or a dead server that has a massive comfortable alpha.
The problem with this, is it would only benefit current plays, and anyone wanting to join the party late would get on a server see 29 level 60’s, 15 god attack markers and just not be interested. And since every server would technically be open to jumping, then every server they see will be like this, and feel that playing catch up won’t be worth it. they will spread word of mouth that the game is ran bullies, whether true or not.
And if you kill your server as the alpha, that is on you for making it boring. Jumping servers would just kill more servers quickly. The idea of a truly impressive alpha that wants the game to thrive at the same time they dominate, is to let people build up. Let them poke first, then go to war. The way you speak, i doubt your server is as full as you say. You literally like to obliterate everything, and drive balance away. That is fine, but the locust mentality will only kill off officials. As a former big old clan, when we were in control, we loved to feed the lower clans. Trade, let them raid each other. Then when one poked us, we would enjoy some back and forth. Only when they became a trolling nuisance that wouldn’t melee, naked bombed, hid behind lollipop builds, and tried to offline (not off hours, but true offline) raid only, grief when we would be repairing/building (like dying constantly to have body in the way of placing) did we go full on nuke.
