NO Paid Map DLC Please

which makes my statement not invalid. none of the free bits is initially from wildcard and bringing the free maps into the what conan can learn from ark discussion is just for one point: charge for your map and maybe if some modders create neat stuff brand it with your logo

in summary: the comparison limps and will never learn to walk

oh and to be clear: I did not have any problems with ark or with the way they promote the free stuff. I have over 3000 hours played and I’m still playing it and appreciate the free and paid stuff (I own all DLCs - expect the last).

in steam you can find all DLCs listed on the shop page and nothing shows that the free stuff is from modders

this part was meant rather ironically to make this what can conan learn from ark nonsense even more obvious (hence the :wink: at the end)

The idea of a paid expansion to an existing game is nothing new. I would rather wait to see what they are planning before I decide to buy it or not.

I think that we should have the new map be connected to the old in some way as to not fragment the community and then if it becomes an issue for pvp create limitations for those severs.

I would rather them create content for pve and balance combat for pvp than scrapping good ideas because someone will inevitably use it to be a jerk.

For myself, I really have no issue with paying for a new area. For all the time I spend playing, it’s still a deal for me.

I am not happy with this concept of paid maps. You are asking for a have/have not system and I personally think it will ruin the game for both solo players and clans. Please don’t do this

There is so many unplayable servers atm because of DDoS, cheaters, glitchers, exploiters, spawn blockers etc.
Also since EA there is too many glitches and bugs.
They didnt stated this map WILL be paid but if they rly trying to do that, they will lose like 50% playerbase.
And comparison Conan with Ark is nonsense, Ark has 15x bigger population + their core isnt that much buggy as CE.
I like this game, it looks great, but so many bugs since early access till now are forcing me to stop playing it. I have over 3300hrs, im playing since EA but i stopped many times due to bugs, glitches, cheaters, exploits etc.
And playing CE on PvP server without the new map DLC cant be done.
I hope Funcom will start working on their core to be more stable and bugless before making new cosmetic dlcs and stuff like that.
And please, figure out your DDoS protection, PLEASE, because my server (PC #1060) and many more are constantly unplayable at raid times 17:00 - 0:00.
When they figure all this, im willing to pay, but spending money for game where servers are offline for half of the day is pointless for us.
Also there is like 20% of playerbase checking the forum, there is even much more issues with this game but pissed players are not willing to make forum account, they will rather quit the game.
We would have numbers like Ark/Rust and more. Game looks beautiful but thats not everything, we need to have more stable game.

I’m not bothered by a paid DLC map. I will gladly pay… twice, as I have done for every DLC for both of my accounts.

Nor does your point invalidate mine. Charge for the map, place items from it in the old map. Let both grow. Create a new, free map when/if the original map can no longer be added to/improved upon, to showcase what Funcom has learned in developing it’s paid maps. Systems from each of the paid maps in Ark have made their way into the free maps provided by Ark, along with a sampling from each of those paid maps. I would simply like to see Conan Exiles do the same. If the original map can not be further expanded/improved upon due to technical limitations, either do enough paid maps to completely redo the base map, or release another map without those limitations as free.
I expect that over time, even the content from Ark’s new Genesis expansion will make it’s way into the free maps. Which allows Ark to advertise paid content in free content.

@nthndarkstar well said. It has been stated by funcom that there are things in the original map they wish they could fix but can’t. I don’t know the specifics of it. They want to make a new map to improve the experience then let them. My point is let the maps all play together, have some bleed over and show people what is out there.

I played both Ultima online and classic WoW. I would prefer much more the Ultima approach where the maps added new story, enemies, dungeons and loads of other content without much change in player power level. When they did change the leveling system to allow more growth it was for all players even those without the expansions.

WoW on the other hand is what I don’t want. Every new expansion dramatically changed power levels and invalidated everything before it. You threw you gear away because the stuff you grinded dozens of hours for was suddenly worse than the trash loot in the expansion. It was the worst experience. Don’t do this. No.

At this time I will trust Funcom to give us something worth paying for and I will be getting the new expansion unless they give me a reason not to (and no not the cosmetic dlc level of something worth paying for).

New map will only bring new locations, but the issue is:
• 3-10 FPS, especially when u r raiding.
• DDoS - Anyone can DDoS every server, everytime
• AI, since Early Access AI is completely broken.
• Cheaters, exploits, bugs, hacks, undermesh
• Thralls are not attacking / stucking in the ground and farming takes 10x more time than normal.
• There is no point to play alone on PvP server, your base can be destroyed so easy even if you spend 500 hours of building it.
• If you build super big huge ultra maze base with hundreds of doors, plenty elevators etc, even if u have a vault or two somewhere hidden under the ice or something so u can farm 8 hours before you going store your loot, getting back to the base is pain in the ■■■ and ppl are quickly bored of doing that and its pointless because your base can be demolished so easily even if u have 100x100x100 square with 5x5 fence foundations and intersections as walls, 300 doors as a maze and your base in that big protected palce is only 6x6x2
• Lagspikes / FPS drops everytime, everywhere, always. ( Yea i already stated that but its really frustrating )
• Game feels dead, 40 players for server is not enough. Even 60-70 for private server is not enough. Yes with all the FPS drops and lag issues is pointless to make cap like 100ppl, but yea, official servers with 40 players feels so empty.
• New bugs each patch - this is frustrating alot. No announcements about testlive patches = no testers = broken update, more risk.
• With new Heavy gear as Meta, there is no Cold resistance gear with strength/Vitality ( except Cimmerian, but this one is only +1 cold resist, its not enough for very cold areas and its full vitality) - this should be figured out. With Redeemed Silent Legion u can make Chest (str) + Gloves (vit) but Silent Legion is +2 Heat resist.
• Low FPS, yes i stated that two times already but low FPS is in my oppinion the worst issue.
• Scripts… Poison, Throwing Axe, bombs etc. Need fix too.
• Animals like Rhinos, elephants etc are flying hundreds of yards away, fells bad boys.
• Bad AI, really bad AI with too big response time. I stated that already but FPS, AI and Latency is the real issue, this problem is here since early acces and no fixes for like 3 years or so, dont do that to us Funcom, please.
• Im playing on Official PC #1060 ATM and my server is unplayable last two weeks. Server was not dead, we had 40 active players 2 weeks ago but something happened, server is under DDoS every day, every single day while raid time is on and there is no response from Funcom for two weeks. Many players reported it but still no solution. You are losing players and info about new paid map is comming is making it worse.
• Maces / Thowing Axes / 1H Swords are bugged as fu*k if u use rope to cancel attack
• NPCs are disappearing. You kill a boss and he just disappears, mostly snakes. Im not talking about falling under the mesh, relog or moving out and back will make thralls / animals to appear once again but those are just gone forever and this issue is there for a long time.
• New hidden player list is bad decision, really it is.
• Torches / braziers are causing too much FPS drops, we dont need new map, we need new core.
• We all love avatars, i hope u will do something to bring them back again. You probably stop them because of exploit but duping them or exploiting like " HUGE GIANTS destroying servers " is not the real issue. Yea if u have a clan with few bubbles, ( lets say u figured out duping and exploiting the giants ) still as a solo player, you are now marked on map with T3 temple but your trebuchets now are ignoring bubbles and they are shooting 1 grid far, as a solo player you have no chance to defend.
• Trebuchets are now able to destroy bases 1 grid far. Everyone on official is foundation spam 1 grid from his base = too much pressure for servers and unacceptable for solo player.
• Solo players cant play for more than lets say 2-4 weeks, they are being destroyed so easily. Im not talking about noob river t1 bases or hidden T2 places after spending 50-100hours, BUT players spending 1000hours of making their base protected are always being destroyed so easily.
• Not accessible elevators/draw bridges for others would be great.
• FPS
• Latency
• AI
Last three points are stated many times but they are more important than everything else, please Funcom, PLEASE! Make your game better, spend your money to save it and we will gladly pay you back.

Well said. This is also my desired path for them to take. Again, if, after selling a couple DLC maps, they want to make a new map for free, or redo the base game with the knowledge they’ve accrued, so much the better. I am very much against Funcom taking an MMO approach where new lands massacre the power curve and prevent anyone and everyone who hasn’t bought them from reaching “end game”.

Personally i will not spend anymore money on DLC’s with this company, i will continue to play the game for now, painfully with all the crashs but spending more money it is out of question. I think this company should look at Nomansky as an example of a company that embraced the community.

Coming up with an imaginary number (not meaning i here, but a number that is a product of your imagination) won’t make your argument any more believable; I suspect you won’t make Funcom tremble in their pants with the threat of losing half their player base just because you say so without any statistical evidence or even a door-to-door poll.

Your list of problems in the current game isn’t invalid, but they’re irrelevant to this particular discussion. Whether or not the new map is paid won’t make those bugs go away. In fact, profits from a paid DLC could theoretically go into extra bug-fixing resources, whereas making free content won’t bring in more money to the company, so they’d have to make do with what they have. Of course, there’s the option of not releasing a new map at all, but a new map to explore is a very popular request by the community, so there’s a possibility that it would actually bring in more players who may have quit playing because they’ve seen everything on the current map.

Focusing on the pros and cons of the map DLC in this thread is more fruitful than digressing with everything that’s wrong in the game. Makes it easier for Funcom to find the actually valid feedback.

the limitation is part of the used engine and a new map will not use a different engine. conan exiles use unreal engine 4.15.3 and a new map will also use the same engine: 4.15.3 and therefore has the same limitations. so it is very unlikely that the new map will be bigger than the existing one and maybe will will see some improved systems but not a complete rewrite of all the stuff we have today (building system, …)

It doesn’t need to be on a new engine in order to make improvements over the currently released map. Improved LODs, better texture compression, improved ai pathing, spawns, etc. etc. can all be implemented without changing the engine. If they aren’t able/willing to make those improvements on the existing map, creating a new version of the base game map, after creating enough DLC maps/packs to fund it, would certainly be welcome. Short version, the engine isn’t always the problem, learning to work within it’s limitations certainly can (and will) be. Also remember, a game engine isn’t only one thing. Rendering, scripting, physics, and so on are all components that can be replaced/upgraded.

texture compressing, AI and spawns are core systems of conan exiles and not related to any map. the existing and new map will use the same base game and the same core systems. will we see improvements for the new map? sure, and every improvement for the new map will also be accessible on the existing map but if they really use it one the existing map is another story. for stuff like the AI pathing an improvement will work on all maps because it is part of the underlying base game.

not really. the physics part is the reason for the map size limit. did they replaced it? no. will they replace it? I doubt it.
