Not an issue anymore

Game mode: Singleplayer
Type of issue: Crash on launch - Can’t start game with mods
Server type: None
Region: My PC

You can’t have a Modlist.txt file in your Conan mod folder. If you do it will say “Corrupted files, verify integrity of game.” There is no way to fix it besides removing the Modlist.txt file completely from the folder. Playing with mods is impossible for Singleplayer/Co-op players.

Please fix this! Me and my friends want to use the amazing content this community creates.

(Ps: The singleplayer is set to the Exiled Lands map (old map) but that shouldn’t have anything to do with it as it crashes on launch and not login)

Please provide a step-by-step process of how the bug can be reproduced. The more details you provide us with the easier it will be for us to find and fix the bug:

  1. Have a Modlist.txt file in your mod folder, can be blank.
  2. Try to start the game.
  3. The game will freeze while trying to launch, you will get an error message and you will need to kill it from the task manager as it doesn’t close itself.
  4. Become frustrated.

Mod support is not broken, I have tested various mods in single player and I am also using a modlist.txt in my local Mods folder to connect to my modded server without an issue. You are using outdated mods that haven’t been updated to be compatible with the latest game update.

Remove your mods (also unsubscribe and remove them from your workshop folder) and modlist.txt and verify the integrity of your game files. Load only mods that have been updated on or after 15.09.2020. It is always a good practice to make a backup before new updates.

Are you sure it’s not the mods themselves causing the problem? Having a game crash after a major update because the pre-update mods are no longer compatible is far from unheard of. If that is the case, then it would be up to the mod authors to update their mods.

Look at the last mod update date in the workshop section of your subscriptions. If there is a mod BEFORE September 15th, then it is outdated and can’t be used anymore.

See these comments:

You may also want to unsubscribe from any outdated mods which have not been recently updated (with patches older than September 15, 2020), even if they are not in use.

I didn’t have any outdated mods in my list and the same thing happened when Modlist.txt was blank so didn’t think this would be the issue but now I know!
