Obelisks and resources

The ONLY way to “make it fair” for any new player or clan on an established server is periodic wipes.

Otherwise, whats stopping that new player or clan from playing for a few months and building up? They become the same as the dominant clan they would have faced otherwise. See my point? There isn’t a happy medium that I can see. Either hop on, deal with the issues on the server, leave and join a less populated one, or petition for wipes. What else do you think could be done?

Well, lets look at this a couple different ways. First, you can do what is done here, come to the forums and want a clan banned for blocking areas of the map. Or, you could use the in game items (bombs, orbs, trebuchets) to deal with such spam. When that clan comes to replace the spam, you fight and kill them. Granted, it would be an uphill battle, but think about it - youre going against a force that is established. You wont win the war in a day.

These reasons are why I got so upset with the nerfing of both the trebuchet damage, and the orb stacking damage. Too many people whined that they were getting raided too easily, and so changes were made so they were less efficient. Now spam is out of control, and the ESSENTIAL ITEMS needed to clear it up without the need of reporting players on PVP servers are less then ideal (still usable but time consuming.) Also, remember the EA gods? The ones that shattered everything in sight? Yes, Ive wanted that to return as well - instant spam clearing. (And super quick revenge on your enemies bases)

The real issue is how super easy it is to farm, produce and maintain base parts now. The good ole days where you spend hour on end to get a stack of 1k ichor for T3 made those worth while, and worth defending from gods even more important. Now? Heck give me a couple hours and Ill get you a few thousand pieces. THAT is the problem. Make farming harder/less resources, and increase damage from raiding tools.

Yes, “true fair” is only going to be achievable in a game with no progression systems whatsoever.

What brimstone blocking does is it makes extremely easy to skew it towards the extreme end of unfair.

eso es una lastima y me parece correcto que puedan poner para no construir en el azufre

That seems only ‘fair’ for the noobs. Noobs should try diplomacy with an established clan. You can offer trades of hardened brick, hides…things needed for t3 builds in exchange for better weapons and armor. Establish enough relationships like that and you may find yourself under an established clans aegis. Then they would be a support clan for you instead of an enemy…allies baby!

They sure could. The alphas can then either choose to help or wipe them…that’s the name of the game. Every server is different and how each clan reacts to new players/clans is also different.

I think the point of this thread though, is what can be done about blocking resources/obelisks. On PVP servers, we have the means to do so, if they are returned to their better damage. That gives players a chance to remove such spam, since the idea of reducing farming rates likely wont be as widely accepted.

With Funcoms new rule changes, they have opened the door to simply report players and clans for spamming or blocking areas of the map. To me, (again on PVP servers) this is childish…go blow the damn stuff up, and fight the ones spamming. Obviously you cant do this on PVE, and THAT is where reporting should occur, since there is zero need to block, spam or land claim anything.

I agree, it does make it unfair. But, so long as you have the ability to group up into clans, and have allies…things will NEVER be fair in a multiplayer game. It boils down to numbers a lot of the time…whoever has more usually wins at the end of the day.

Trebuchets, and who has more patience? Who has more clan members, allies? Who can unite the server against the spam clan? Who has more time to play? Even if there is 10 of them, there is potentially 30 of you.

Some people can hold out longer then others. Some call it quits after a day. Some can fight like that for 4 or 5 months. To each their own.

Is it good game design in your opinion that somebody with so little effort could drastically alter the experience in negative way for an entire server?

Eh I haven’t thought of it as a bad design. The building mechanics in Conan are some of the best Ive seen in gaming. Id say the issue is how easy it is now to farm building pieces, and how badly the devs have nerfed raiding materials.

Something need to be done

Funcom want players to report this behaviour but we have to go thru so much crap just to report it

I honestly believe that funcom are making it difficult to report so they don’t have to enforce there new rules

Or maybe it’s made difficult so they don’t drown in a deluge of false reports. People are less motivated to report their competitors out of spite if they need to spend some effort to do it.

On the other hand, people who witness serious rulebreaking such as undermeshing, hacks, building outside allowed area, etc. will be more likely to actually collect evidence and give Funcom accurate information upon which to act.

“I was offended by this player who called my pet panther ugly” is not the flavor of reporting we need.

If you want the rules to be enforced, follow the rules. Funcom can’t help you, if you refuse to help yourself :woman_shrugging: It is not that hard …

I’ve jumped thru all the hoops and I stick to all the rules do get your facts right before jumping to conclusions

You see, it is very simple.

I agree there is a game mechanic, but the balance is far off on this. For 18 hours one can famr and build, and for 6 hours it can be destroyed. On top of that, T# foundation just 1, takes roughly 16 bombs, or 800 Steal fire to make. A T3 foundation takes all of 3. and 4 insulated/shaped wood. So one can place at least 200 T3 foundations for every 1 I blow up material wise. There in lies the problem on the idea about mechanic to counter the spamming. And lets not even get into T1…25 stone vs 100 Steel Fire (2 bombs) . These are approximate numbers, but not far off. So now you see why spamming is not really something that should just be ignored on PVP?
