Performance issues Feedback thread - Stuttering, lag

Nice. Give me reply later when u will make a test :slight_smile: thx

TLDR; We are showing you the problem/symptom via multiple videos and your developers are ignoring us, once again i’ve made a video which shows you the symptom of the problem. Don’t release hotfixes if all they are is hotair. STOP THE DLC, FIX THE BIG BUGS RE-PRIORITISE PLEASE

The micro-stuttering is caused by loading of distant textures and is repeatable by going anywhere on the map where you counter a micro stutter, typically 10 seconds in any direction from any starting point.

Run back and forward until you see the texture change in the distance. I used the ‘stat unitgraph’ command to show you the draw-calls at the actuation point.

Tested on Ultra & low settings.

This hotfix doesnt solve the problem. I’m not technical enough to know how to fix it as i’m not a programmer but i can tell you the symptom of the problem is visually changing textures in the distance causing micro stutter.

There’s so many videos on a thread about this specific issue here, and the effort that has gone into making these for your developers have been completely ignored, and this patch proves it because it doesnt fix it and should have never been pushed out without testing it, which literally takes 10 seconds to re-test…

We have severe micro stuttering as well. This causes huge problems when trying to fight things… especially when you get freezes at death and then suddenly you’re naked and afraid.

No, they are NOT ignoring us. Have you not read this thread? I’ve played a lot of games over the years and Funcom is one of the more responsive game companies Ive encountered. How about trying to get any kind of help or response from Zenimax (Elderscrolls Online).

Ignasis has stated repeatedly that they are very appreciative of all of our feedback and are closing in on a hopeful fix for the problem. He has also clearly stated that most of the company goes on holiday over the last couple weeks. Some countries expect everyone to work year round, but Norway isn’t one of them.

They are back from holiday now and actively working on a patch for this issue.

Now, if you can’t wait that long, you can try the Garbage Collection tweak mentioned in this thread, yesterday and today (Discovered by Fampat and posted in this thread by Multigun). I’m using it and it is working beautifully. My lag/stutter is only noticeable if I throttle my performance way down, to keep my fan noise minimal.

Must have really gone out of your way to miss the dozen or so responses and updates provided by Ignasis in this thread.

You even copied and pasted your post from the same one you posted on December 24th. And you know who gave you a heart, showing that your report was read and recorded? Ignasis.

funcom deploy releases 1 or 2 by month but the problems persists, corpses disapears, too lag, glitches, server crashes.

HOTFIXES must be deployed everyweek until game works fine. I have a lot of freezes playig from GEFORCE NOW, freezes from game ofc.

Now you can compare with Atlas, early access but everyday there are a patch.

except atlas is a pile of trash and this isnt?

I hardly see how we’re ignoring the feedback. We’re actively tracking this thread daily, posting updates on this issue whenever we can. But not because we have not released a patch for it yet means we’re not working on it. It is a complex issue and as others have stated, for some people this problem is persistent and severe, while others barely notice it. If there was a magic button we could press to fix it immediately, rest assured that we would :slight_smile:
For the time being, please bear with us asking for information so we can send it to our team. We’ve collected a ton of evidence, diagnostics and feedback on this issue, so it is not necessary that you keep sending it, although it is always helpful. Once we have more information we can share about it, we will. Until then, and again, I can assure we’re looking into it and listening.

Thanks everybody!

We know in last weeks funcom looks and hears much more the community, but still we hope see an excelent performance as soon you can :wink:

Conan its a big game! only needs some of push more quickly for the gammers can enjoy it without bugs and glitches, the people reported woud be investigated/reported and then we will be able to continue recommending the game and to grow as fairly play community.

we say you are ignoring us cause there is no action take on Live server to fix this global problem. Allot of time has pass and all it happen is just getting info :slight_smile: no action. Action counts not words :smiley: that is why we think funcom dos not care (i feel stupid that i need to explain this :slight_smile: it is commonsense if you report a problem a few weeks ago and nothing is done :slight_smile:

This is in no way meant to sound paternalistic or sanctimonious, you have every right to express your opinion on the matter, and if you think Funcom has lacked responsiveness, clearly they want to hear it, Ignasis is inviting it. :slight_smile: And what you want is an update for Live, to improve a number of issues you’ve enumerated.

However, as a TestLive participant, I’m actually on the edge of my seat for the next update.

Due to the confluence of events, Christmas, New Year and potentially all the requisite seasonal “leave,” vacation, holiday or otherwise, and the proximity of this TestLive patch, I think you can see where I’m going. While they want to patch Live, if TL has the goods and they’re on limited staff, why not continue to press on with the TL while taking advantage of feedback to help sew up other non-critical issues arising on Live?

Please keep THIS thread for its purpose. Can we?.

Back on topic, I tried with the setting gc.BlueprintClusteringEnabled=FALSE, and I did see some improvement for sure. But changing the other three parameters above, labeled gc.**** , I got the first crash ever in a long time. I will revert those three and keep testing. So far that one change has helped, the others I have no idea since I know nothing of unreal engine or what its parameters do.

Edit: anyone know the default parameters for the GarbageCollectionSettings?, I failed to backup the file… :sweat_smile:

[/Script/Engine.GarbageCollectionSettings]
gc.MaxObjectsNotConsideredByGC=42000
gc.SizeOfPermanentObjectPool=8388608
gc.CreateGCClusters=True
gc.MergeGCClusters=False
gc.ActorClusteringEnabled=True
gc.BlueprintClusteringEnabled=True

Or that is what my TestLive client shows at least, before my edit to fix the stutter.

As you all know we’re constantly looking for ways to improve performance and fix any issues that arise. On the meantime, regarding the workaround people found to improve performance and as a quick tip, try to avoid editing DefaultEngine.ini and edit Engine.ini instead. You can copy the setting from Default to Engine.ini and it will overwrite it. This way you can revert back any changes done by just removing that particular setting.

I have problem with fps drops from 63 to 25 and shuttering for 2 seconds.
I am using nvidia latest nvidia driver 417.35 with optimization via geforce experience app.

Please provide a step-by-step process of how the bug can be reproduced. The more details you provide us with the easier it will be for us to find and fix the bug:

  1. I start the game it loads without a problem or error
  2. When the game starts and i play i have fps 60 but if i move i have fps drops and shuttering for 2 seconds
  3. The problem exists if i put the settings to low
    4.I have checked intergrity of my files too and they are ok.
    5.I am using Conan exiles devkit.

I am using this mods but the problem is reproduced even if i don’t use them.

this fixed it for me thanks

His post fixed my issues with the stutters the game is playable now

Ah right.
I relayed this fix to other players.
Most didnt answer, one answered he wouldnt want to mess with his files that way and two others claim it works a lot better than previously. Thats multiple people not caring about this, one not wanting to test it and two aside of myself for whom it works perfectly.

Instead of drops right down to 5 or similar (from 60 on), it’s going down by 20 at most - but steady.
I did see bad performance with that too:
After a while (like multiple hours) and a journey through the whole map (!), the stuttering/lag comes back a little. But we were at first in the swungle, moved over to the black galleon, next was nameless city, then seperemu, then mounds, then back to swungle. This was followed by discovering a neighbours base and later moving to the server admins home to say hello.
So maybe what the garbagecollection is supposed to do actually takes place, but at which cost?
I prefer having to restart the game over having unplayable performance.

This ‘‘fix’’ really working for someone? Not for me anyway :slightly_frowning_face:

Hello. I went into the garbage collection setting as posted above and noticed that the lag spikes were non existant to the point where I didn’t even notice them. I turned the following to false.

gc.CreateGCClusters=False
gc.MergeGCClusters=False
gc.ActorClusteringEnabled=False
gc.BlueprintClusteringEnabled=False

I made a new character and recorded some random gameplay. This is on singleplayer testlive
