Performance issues Feedback thread - Stuttering, lag

Zdom, is there something a user can do to just shut off the xaudio7? I’d rather play with no sound than have the stutter, but mainly I want to test it. Someone further up in the thread suggested disabling sound was a fix, but there is no way I can see in game to completely disable it. The sliders only lower the sound to very low levels and editing the game.ini to zero for all sounds does not prevent the game from still playing very very quiet sounds.

i have tested a version without denuvo and it did not fix the stutter or the insane death lag. admittedly the death lag was shorter but not by much, i still get the fps drop when loading in distant objects. i did record a video using a version without denuvo but because of its nature i havent uploaded it as i dont fancy getting banned.

i will test the audio next as im using xonar dg audio drivers so will be interesting to see if there is any difference

Hey everybody,

Thank you all who have been sending me your dxdiags. I am sending them to our devs and see if they can determine which configurations are causing this issue.

Happy new year

Thank you for the feedback, again

I’ve sent you a direct message with further info (you should be able to reply to that and send a direct message now too).

Happy New Years Conan and the janky Exiles!

In Mr Burns voice

Get back to work.

Same issues here as well, RX 580 8gb, 32gb ram. WD Blue SSD, Xeon 1620.

Ultra/High settings @ 1080P.

Usually steady at 50-60 FPS, And then sudden stutters. Easily repeated in certain areas.
Settings don’t really change that at all.

Hoping for a fix or some tweak.

Happy New Years all.

Can we expect any fix for that ?

ah ok! Just disabling them in windows then. Very cool. Going to do the same and see if my stutter is gone.

Edit: Ok, if I disable my Realtek in device manager, when I load CE, I just get a black screen for my CE window. Nothing but my 120 FPS counter in the lower right of the CE window. I tried updating the driver and the lag spikes are still there.

I really need to find a way to completely disable sound in CE, to be able to test this. I do find it really odd that disabling my sound hardware in Windows 10 will cause CE to fail loading video. It really sounds like the link is sound based, especially after that video of Sanjian’s.

Thank you for your video. I’m adding everything you people are sending our way to the issue report.

Ive been having this same issue for months. Tired of having to squat to move around, the sturrering, the lag. This BS is making the game unplayable.

Do something about it and hurry

I tried with no sound by disabling all audio drivers in device manager and it didnt seem to make a difference.

Although as mentioned above when I launched conan exiles testlive without sound the game hung on a black screen for about 10 seconds or so but then launched.

Has anyone else tested the Denuvo theory yet? Seems like the historical record of Denuvo messing up FPS puts this as a very likely culprit.

So can you give it a rest already? 4 day old account on forums and the last post from Tex was 4 days ago. Could be just coincidence? It isn’t like they are unaware of your idea about this, so if it is the problem, they have to either figure out how to make it play well with the game or switch to another DRM solution. If it isn’t the issue, then 1000 posts about it isn’t going to make them take off DRM for pirating.

Think of buying a car. Cars come with keys now for security. There was a time when they did not. Back in those days, you didn’t have to worry about someone taking your car. Now you do, so there are keys. Keys are a pain. You can lose them. Some have batteries that can die. They make it more inconvenient overall, but for people that did not buy that car, they make it a lot more inconvenient, which is the point.

Somebody did and it did not fix anything.

Please stop beating that dead horse

Thank you everybody again for the feedback you’re sending our way. Our team is slowly incorporating from vacations so they will take a look at it soon. Until then and as always, any new information you can provide is really appreciated.

Asking if anyone else (other than the single person in this thread who’s mentioned it) has tested out that theory is not “beating a dead horse”. It was just a simple question. You answered it, Ignasis. Thanks for that. But “give it a rest already” and “please stop beating that dead horse” is unneccessary. I just asked a simple, honest question. There was zero malice. Nice job getting overly defensive towards a paying customer who’s simply trying to PLAY YOUR GAME. jeez. Happy new year.

Truthfully, it came up almost identically a number of times during Early Access at Steam. If @Ignasi is a veteran player he’s almost comically groaning about it by now. I think I’d take the smiley face on his post at face value.

Yes clearly Denuvo is now a bad word. Kinda sorry I even spoke! lol. Sucks to be a noob to the nerd party, where it seems its assumed I should know i’m “beating a dead horse” by simply asking an honest, incredibly practical question. And no, not a question which had already been spammed in this thread. But in the history of this forum? Maybe so. I have absolutely NO IDEA. But it seems so, now, with hindsight.

And no, sirvink, this isn’t some sort of conspiracy/sock-puppet/pro-pirate-agenda account. I’m a real person, who just bought the game a few days ago… can’t play it… and so came here very politely trying to get to the bottom of it. I understand the suspicion though. I have seen pro-pirate trolls doing their thing. I’m not one of them. Read my first post. I’m a passionate gamer trying to get what I think is a good game (but haven’t had a chance to confirm yet) to work properly.
