PLEASE, remove Spiked Walls Damage in PVE

Hi, this is mainly for the devs (hoping they read these topics):

In PVE buildings cannot be damaged by other players attacks.
Not even the owner can damage them, not with attacks, not with explosives …

But are you aware that they can be damaged by players trying to climb and hitting the Spiked Fences and Crenelated Walls ? They take very little damage (20 per time) but it’s really nasty to have to repair them every time cause a dumb*** tried to climb on them.

Also, it is possible, even tho it would be a LONG and TIRESOME work, to even destroy them. I don’t think this feature is intended in PVE.

It takes damage because it applies damage to others too.
Too many players have been trolled and “murdered” with spikes! Yet I have a question.
Why do you use defensive mechanics on pve when you do not have a purge?
Why you use anticlimb mechanics in a pve server not allowing to others to enter your yard or residence?
They cannot steal anything, touch anything, destroy anything!
I do understand the “decor” neccecity on pve of a fortress, but it’s pve! People should find shelter in your yard, drink from your water well, remove corruption from your entertainers, gain a journey step from your elevator, etc…
Have you ever considered that a guy who lagged close to your base may die and loose his horse from your palisades?
Is this nice?
Consider to play more pve, in pve servers please, thank you!

I don’t care of the anti-climbing mechanic, it’s just aesthetic.
My building looks great that way. Also, I kinda of like my privacy XD

Seriously, I have no problem with others finding shelter in my yard, I leave the gates open, but my building need those spiked walls (the kithan half-walls and crenelated walls) to look good.

But sometimes some people try to climb it up, and damage it. And this disturbs me. A lot.
I’m not talking about palisades, I don’t even use them cause they look terrible (and not in a good way).

BTW, I do have Purges … I play PVE official, you know ?
Not that this matters, since NPCs don’t climb.

Finally, I’m just posting a feedback on a mechanic that doesn’t work as intended (obviously) in PVE. Before bursting out accusing others of not being good players, try to read and UNDERSTAND the topic: the fact that buildings can’t be damaged by attacks but can be damaged by people trying to climb is PURE NON-SENSE.

Calm down , I never meant to offend you please! I needed to understand and now I have a better vision, thank you for this.
Again however it applies damage, that’s why it gets damaged .
So do you suggest anticlimb not to work in pve?

Yes, anti-climb not working in PVE.

OR at least just the building not taking damage (after all, no one forces a player to try climbing on other guys buildings, especially since it’s useless).

I do understand you totally, a lot of people in pve servers behave like a… s! You cannot imagine how many named crafters I lost in surges because one a… e come to my surge murdering and looting my surge :man_shrugging:.
I cannot understand the behavior of some players, I never will .

Whoa! I actually didn’t know this!

Just wanted to thank you for teaching me something new

I have played this game since ea and didn’t knew about it either until my friend discovered it on pvp server few months ago. This game has many ‘hidden’ features, some of them are gamechanging especially on pvp servers.

Because high up…a one second lag usually is a death sentence unless you got some fencing up

Huh…so you actually waited the ungodly time for abandoned thralls to disappear?

Probably a better ask is, fences with no spikes on them.

Before the leash, we used to kite bosses. I haven’t had to participate in any cleanup like that since then.

But wouldn’t palisades work better than fences?

They do indeed

I would love to do that Stelagel, unfortunately, without fences, I get nasties being kited into my base. In fact I did for a time leave my current build open, but came back to find my Cimmerian Berserker killed by something which had no earthly business being there.

It’s a sad fact that, despite it being PVE, there are those who really only play to either troll others, (or I assume to acquire weapons and armour the quicker way, heh)

Case in point, right now I play on a server where a clan has effectively walled off virtually one entire side of Separmaru. No reason, just because they can.

I play PVE a fair bit, as well as PVP, I don’t know what it is, but when it comes to toxic players PVE seems to attract the weird passive-aggressive control freaks. You can spot them, they are the ones who seem to have this strange desire to either wall in or block everything off,

Don’t get me wrong , plenty of lovely people out there also, like yourself

While it can be annoying, it’s kinda fascinating from a psychological point of view.

I can suggest solutions if you want? I can easily say to you that using stable entrance is more than enough to stop everything that can be kited in your base and allow to others to find shelter in it because they can climb it extremely easy, almost jump it :man_shrugging:.
About your dead Berserkers is what I am saying about the idiot pvp mentality in pve servers :rage:, I love pvp and pvec, but in their servers not in pve, it is unacceptable!!!

Half walls, lattice , we are pve @erjoh

I just murdered an entire town because it didn’t have anyone of importance in there to bash in the head and drag for a half mile before putting them on a “wheel of pain” and you want to talk to me about replacing my spiked fences with lattice? Do you think the HOA will allow me to get some lovely English ivy for that lattice?

@erjoh
I agree, but lattice is awesome, no doubt about it. After the change on lower tier fences, this half wall helps a lot!

Yep. It is a way in pvp to see of someone was trying to snake in some how.

In PVE you can still be looted while offline by other players. The spikes protect you against thieves and trespassers.

I don’t believe crenellations are supposed to take damage from players climbing them. I’ve actually not seen this myself. Might be a bug.
