Maybe because FC actually have people that get payed to keep the game running?
Do you mean game or server? The game itself is absolutely running just fine. All this recent screaming and crying has to do with servers. Do not conflate the two. As the point of this post says, if you disagree with how officials are run, set up or join a private more aligned with how you want to play.
The multiplayer game doesnât run without the servers and the servers doesnât run without the game, so it doesnât matter.
Thatâs odd, I seem to have a singleplayer button on my main menu
Private servers run just fine, and fc doesnât have to spend resources and manpower micromanaging them.
Yeah, Thatâs a mistake I think there Mr. Barnes. Pretty much every uber-successful and long lasting on-line PvP game on the planet allows for private servers with and without mods - From Quake to Warzone⊠The only oneâs that donât are the central server MMOs out there. And some of them go down after awhile forcing people to legally or illegally make their own servers anyway.
Multiplayer runs on private servers and as I said, Iâm not advocating shutting down officials. Iâm saying that peopleâs pvp desires are addressable already thru private servers if they find officials objectionable. Its all a question of whatâs most important; that it have the features you want or that it be freely provided with anyone random on it.
I LOVE @Barnes. I do understand his point of view and respect it. Yet, in this I am 100% for privates when we speak about pvp. I wonât speak about mods, I am a Playstation player, but I will speak for possibilities of the game. Comparing official pvp and private, I can say what I said in the past. Official pvp is just a pilot for how the game could be, a standard suggestion. Not that it is bad or good, this is totally objective. And I can surely understand âWhyâ a player plays official. I my self play pve only in officials, for the same reasons I guess. But⊠The things âamateursâ have done in privates, was an experience of a lifetime for me and I cannot thank them enough. Unfortunately however toxic players are everywhere, everywhere⊠and eventually they arrive even in the best servers too. It is really unfair, again, that private admins cannot âreportâ these players so they will be warned from the company. In any case, this is for another topic I guess, sorry.
@darthphysicist, for what is worth⊠And because I donât have here the admins that I met in this game and I admire, THANK YOU.
Another point that Barnes is right, is that it is not so easy to find a good private server, but I will mention however that @Oduda was lucky enough to play in very good servers the most.
Maybe it is a bit our prejudice too that we cannot find good privates ⊠Who knows.
Edit⊠Sorry guys I totally forget, best wishes for your Easter

Thatâs odd, I seem to have a singleplayer button on my main menu
Whatâs odd? Thatâs why I wrote multiplayer.

I doubt the servers can run without the gameâŠ
But this is crazy derailing.
People expect FC to do the heavy lifting because FC is getting paid to do it.
Iâm just tired since its goes round and round in circles anymore. Play, donât play. I lost the motivation anymore to discuss it. You want to quit? Quit. You want to play? Play. What I have actually come to terms with here is that there are just too many folks that wish to simply be right vs support the right thing and so we get stuck in these circles.
The real truth is the OPâs point. You donât like officials ran this wayâŠthey door is over there. The game can still be played elsewhere. You can decide to move over there and play or not if you donât like officials. Itâs just turned to beating a dead horse like itâs the start of the next zombie plague.

I doubt the servers can run without the gameâŠ
Yes, and? Youâre the one that conflated the two. Did you confuse yourself? Servers run on the game and fc is responsible for working on the game. This does not equate to them being responsible for the servers. Officials are a courtesy given, but not the expectation baseline. Itâs a flawed way of looking at it to keep expecting the game to pander to officials and to devalue private servers.

Iâd also like to point out numbers donât lie
So using that, Rust is a far better pvp suvival game than Conan, and it has many officials.
I guess you can just mod (or use server settings) out any changes we get on officials
Itâs kinda funny⊠Sounds like privates are great because you can change anything you want, but also we shouldnât get any changes on officials, because you donât want to make changes on privates?

So using that, Rust is a fat better pvp surbmvivak game than Conan, and it has many officials.
If you want to go there, yes. But rust isnât the top. Minecraft has zero officials and has sold far more.
As of 2019, rust has sold 9 million copies.
Minecraft is estimated at 200 million. How many privates are there?
Also, minecraft has a 9 and up player baseâŠi know 9 or 10 of nieces and nephews alone play that game. And many dont âpvpâ but just run around doing 9 year old things in the game.

Itâs kinda funny⊠Sounds like privates are great because you can change anything you want, but also we shouldnât get any changes on officials, because you donât want to make changes on privates?
Youâre looking at it completely backwards. Privates make the adjustments to the game for their server. You want officials to change the game itself for all servers because you canât go through the effort of making your own server with the changes you want.

Almost as if a game can appeal to more than one demographic? CE isnât a pvp-focused game. Itâs a survival game with pvp. Youâre basing yourself on an incorrect assumption

I wonât speak about mods, I am a Playstation player, but I will speak for possibilities of the game. Comparing official pvp and private, I can say what I said in the past. Please understand I have a different viewpoint of PS4 versus PC. As a former Console player, I really respect the community, and collegial viewpoints the Console brings. If I were still playing PS4, I would consider a friend-run server. The reasons are abundant, and not the least of which â we care about our Gamertags and donât want them sullied by underhanded behavior.
I actually highly value @Barnes opinion which is why Iâm glad he is commenting. We donât always agree but we always have respectful disagreements.
The difference is that players in officials are asking for changes to be made to the base game. Thatâs work. Iâm saying if people want those changes, they can do them now with no work done on FCâs part, and the players can have niche needs without affecting the rest of the player base.

Servers run on the game
I donât understand these words. But the client is what we would consider to be âthe gameâ and the client is not running on the servers. They are two different software packages. The servers might even be free - I didnât check but a lot of companies will release their servers for free so maybe FC too?
We know this server software as âThe Dedicated Serverâ or ConanSandboxServer.exe located in "âŠ\SteamLibrary\SteamApps\common\Conan Exiles Dedicated Server"
