thats why im saying that there should be a mute option.
thats all one needs, both mute for written text and spoken if they come to you.
maybe a report system but thats not really needed is it.
Muting is indeed a useful tool when present, but in the case of clans being named “KuKluxKlan” or “Negrohunters”, muting does nothing. In that case an admin enforcing even a very relaxed set of rules is needed. Heck it could just be a matter of forcing them to rename, with no other consequence. But doing nothing is in this case almost as bad as aproving.

This is terrible! I didn’t imagine it’s happing at the game. I’m playing with a Stygian, follower of Set. My char have African feature, of course. I loved her, but will I be hunted in the game because what she look like? She is so cute! For real, I (the player) don’t have dark skin, but this is not a important information and I don’t care. I just love the Egyptian history and its kinds like I love the Norse mythology. What those people think about? We are on 21th century, please, guys? Are you still there? How difference about the people? We all the same. Unbelievable and unacceptable. Is this not a crime?

Even the US, The Freedon of Speech (this is a good thing) don’t allow disrespect another right of another person (Another good thing).
They use GPortal. They PAY Gportal to run these servers. They use the same method as the players do that run private servers. The only difference is Official servers run default settings, have no admins, and well no rules to govern them.
Really now… you think they pay for there servers lol… There are many other survival games with official servers… that the games have all but died… but amazingly the servers are still up and running? You think your the man to follow because you have helped some private server admins???
Its not as simple as a MMORPG where there is built in systems. CE was never designed for that. Hell the official servers aren’t even going to be permament. As the game dies down, many of them will be closed. Funcom doesn’t run those inhouse.
Oh really? like they closed them during the 3 months when almost no one was playing in EA??? wait… they didn’t close any at all… hmm wow… and you must have some inside connection to gather this information… either that are your talking out the wrong whole…
This is why Funcom says, “not our problem”. They can not afford to build or staff a fix that you would find acceptable. The laws of physics and economics prevents it.
Ah… i see not it makes sense… so they couldn’t do what… Ark did right? or they couldn’t simple code an ingame system in that you click on someone’s name and say “report player” like tons of other games have right??? it takes a lot of coding… right? maybe years to implement something soooo hard… sorry back from google took me all of 30 seconds to find a tutorial on it…
So now they have to set up an out of game reporting system. And using that is tricky. You have to identify which server is which. Which person is which.
which server is which… and what person is which… LOL come on man what??? So you have no experience at all in coding anything right?? never even did a “hello world” script… its not at all tricky… its data readily available on the server side… with that train of thought … you must be amazed every time you login and the server somehow find YOUR character for you to play and not get confused and throw you into another person Character…
please just stop trying to push players to go to private servers because you play on private servers… They are not going to close down servers they can’t even do server “merges” they are even playing on doing cloud server structure where you can hope between other servers… … yeah that might put a damper on your “private server train” …

… you might have freedom of speech but in most states you can be fined for saying certain things that are against the law to say… swearing in public is against the law in most states and if the police want to push it… it would run the person $500 or more in fines…
so freedom of speech sure … but not really.

Yeah, true. I guess we aren’t free after all. Anyway, racism is crappy and these servers are owned by Funcom/GPortal, so they can do what they want.

And racism in a video game is not racism in real life…they dont see you or know you…just like your assumption that I have never been the target of harassment because I disagree with you.
And…hypocrisy does its job yet again by those looking to be a victim.
And here is the reason why there are now laws regulating freedom of speech, people that believe it only applied to speaking out against the government, thus leaving room for THEM to force the government to take away freedom of speech from others for saying things that THEY personally, do not like.
The full term is “Freedom of speech and expression” and R.A.V. v. City of St. Paul, (1992) proved that freedom of speech cannot even be applied to HATE SPEECH legally. Only speech that calls for violence is prohibited.
Same here. People that get upset by what people say over the internet must have really privileged lives. God forbid they have real problems.
This goes a bit off topic, but you do bring up a bit of a point. I remember growing up when certain groups weren’t using racism to merely say things to hurt feelings, but actually destroying lives and hurting people, and in some cases murdering them.
We forcibly pushed those groups out of our communities because they were causing real issues. Nowadays its just low self-esteemed individuals behind computer monitors saying things to get a rise out of people. Not even remnants of the 60s, 70s, or 80s. Just some dweeb who knows taboos get people to say something if they violate them.
Now to tell a story to help the current situation. I was playing Everquest a few years back on one of the newer non-progression servers. There was a troll there who used to make dumb remarks in order to annoy people. He played by the rules so he couldn’t be warned or banned. But it didn’t stop him from being annoying.
On particular evening he was being exceptionally obnoxious. I dunno what his issue was, but it was damn near flooding the chat with nonsense. But the amazing part was, no one was talking to him. There wasn’t much talk at all, I assume most were busy with content or whatever and when they did speak, it was never to him.
This troll nearly had a break down. He went on for about 20 minutes straight about how everyone were jerks for not responding to him, how he thought he might hurt himself, and so forth. It was crazy. And then he logged off early for the evening. I don’t think he hurt himself, since he was back a few days later. But the point here is if you ignore these people. It does actually hurt them. They NEED the attention like these posts and whatever feedback you give them in game.
If you don’t give that to them, they actually get physically ill. They need the validation. They need to get some sort of reaction from other players. Their self worth goes down the toilet if they don’t get it. They have this sort of fragile superiority complex that they think they are superior to other people (not even based on race or whatever) in general because they can elicit an emotion by making a simple comment.
When that fails them, or they think it fails. It throws their little worlds into a bit of uncertainty. That bothers them immensely. It really does. In their minds if they can’t get a rise out of normal ‘lesser’ people. Then there is something seriously wrong.
So when people say to just ignore them. They’re not being facetious about it. It actually does in fact work. But everyone has to do it. If a server on a MMO can do it, then a smaller community on a random CE server should have no issue.

I get what you are saying, and i totally subscribe to that method of NOT giving them the reaction that they want!
BUT
I really do think there is a difference when i comes to offensively speaking people, i really couldnt care less, if someone like you described is throwing whatever insults my way, and i have absolutely no tabo’s myself, but when it comes to racism, I think its time the people in charge/with the power to do so (in this case funcom), make it unequivably clear, that that it is a “no no!”, and either warn/change name or in very bad cases outright removes those not abiding by very simple rules of decensy. I really dont think its much to ask for.
The reason i made this post, was, that i didnt want to feed the particular trolls that i saw on my server, but that I was baffled when i looked for a place to report said racism, that there was nowhere to go, and no clear path to get outright racist names removed/changed.
I mean its not even like “KuKluxKlan” and “Negrohunters” are fringe cases, they ought to be the simplest of admin duties, as there can be no doubt that they are wrong.
And to all the people saying that we who complain about this just need thicker skins, I have plenty thick skin, and it doesnt make me personally uncomfortable like i could imagine it would for others. But just because racism doesnt target you yourself, you are in my book the weakest of persons, if you let it go, and dont make even the slightest of efforts to stop it.
actually did that, replaced all my clans thralls with blacks to mess with the clanleader (he is too) he laughed at it tho.
