Reduce brick and harden brick cost


For me the issue is the amount of stone required to make bricks. Carpenters benches get materials and crafting time reduced with thralls for every thing they make including insulated wood. The “hamburger helper” of oil for insulated wood is just make work. No real cost, just having to stand there and manage the limited space on the bench instead of playing.

Smelters get the time reduction but not the material cost reduction.

I don’t run an encumberance build and resetting my feats every time I want to mine the stone to make more than 15 t3 brick building pieces is not fun gameplay.

It makes the dlc less desirable for one thing.

On that subject, why does Khitan use so much brick instead of wood? Looks like wood to me.

Why not find a middle ground here?

They could very well decrease the time it takes to make hardened brick and on the other hand create something like black ice bricks which would need oil, black ice and bricks.
By that remove oil from the insulated wood since it makes T2 harder to obtain for lower levels.

I played solo too and now just on a PVE server, I used Black Ice too because it was cheaper, on the server I use what fits best.

BTW why not reduce the cost of the cranulations since they have a big cut-out anyway but reguire the same material as the ones without the cut-.out :confused:


How about making it easier on devs and reduce brick and hardened brick cost by 50%.


Exactly just reduce the cost of mats for hardened brick. That would be great


When it just comes to overall cost-reduction there would be a related server-setting, adjustable on private servers of course.

It took me 1 weeks of endless sleep just to finish my Kingdom size base with the time 3.0 harvest setting, Seriously those brick cost is too much even for me who play only solo to handle!!

You know what funny even though I wrote “kingdom size” my base is nothing compare to the talented builder out there who build extremely beautiful medieval castle compare to my build is a joke to them, my still required the cost of making around 10,000 hardened bricks and 7 days of time consuming grinds but what about them? do they build reinforced brick? NO

So question, how are you all Pvp player manage to build something so large without giving some thought why is it cost so much but the black ice is so cheap?

Lastly, think I prefer cost of hardened brick reduce so more players would be happy to choose building type like the new dlc Aquilonian type buildings or khitan because both of them use hardened bricks too and is too costly.


I agree completely I have been trying to upgrade a building to Khitan and it takes forever just to gather the stone for the hardened brick. 1000 stone for 100 bricks is just too much. Cut that in half and it will be much better it will actually feel like you are acomplishing something.

Wearing Medium armor with 30 endurance i can hold 1600-2000 stone before I am over encumbered. Right now thats less than 200 bricks, which take a while to process, and then need to be further processed into hardened brick. The alchemical agent to harden them is fine for cost. That gets me about 10 foundations. Compared to black ice where 1500 black ice makes 300 foundations. Both require a form of processed wood.

Make bricks cost 5 stone per brick instead of 10, this reduces the other tier 3 to a reasonable value. Then require Black ice to make Ice bricks using 1 brick and 1 black ice, similar to harden bricks requiring 1 brick and 1 consolidate. Make the wood and steel cost the same for all and they should both be reasonable and require the same time. Black ice a bit harder, DLC and the reinforced stone a bit easier.


Also lately I have not been getting any XP for the Hardened brick, even tho there should be, How come??


Hardened brick is as easy or easier than insulated wood in testlive. You need to bait fish traps to get fish now for the oil. Ichor was never really a problem. You can get tons of ichor from going to the Swungle and harvesting komodos with a pick. Komodos are much better sources than spiders.


Yeah Hardened brick isn’t that hard to make, making the Stone Consolidant is easy with plenty of Ichor from the fish.
I’ve noticed that actually most things in my Furnace aren’t giving me any XP


Yeah, I don’t count on anything to give me xp unless it’s done from the inventory, like twine. Not sure if that’s intended or not.

It’s not the stone consolidant it’s the fact that it takes 10 stone to make 1 brick. 15 hard bricks vs 5 Black ice. You can literally farm black ice up in the thousands at a time and boom it’s done.

They need to make it so that it’s a 2 to 1 conversion for brick and that would solve the problem. I would say either lower the cost of hard brick as well by half or raise the cost of black ice for the feat.


You obviously have not seen what’s in store with fish traps in the next patch.

Fish traps still work without any bait attached. DEVs said it was a bug that they dont give random fish. So the oil once patched will be the same as always.

Just give up Black-Ice is KING your DLC is worthless. I have made 10’s of thousands of Black-Ice. Once you get sick of it and want to puke just from looking at it it kinda grows on you in a demented kinda f’d up way.

They would rather slit their throats then make any other block = to Black-Ice. After months of hundreds of posts about this they would have corrected it by now if they intended too.

BTW the numbers I did on Black-Ice to Hardened Brick Shows it takes 5-6 times longer to make Hardened Brick. You could add 10 things to Black-Ice and it would still be quicker to make (Except for Hardened Brick that is).


I am sceptic to believe they will do something about that even I would like if they did.

As the latest “balancing” proofs it is all about making stuff harder while, at the same time, server settings like material cost do not work.

Sure it is a bug, as it is a bug that on TestLive Thralls just eat specific food, but not all the same specific food for all types, no: Fighters have different preferences to Entertainers.

I am not a programmer but basic logic dictates that it takes longer to set specific food to specific Thralls than assigning all food to be eaten by them.

As it goes for the fish-trap “bug” I would assume them refering that just one type of fish is “produced” now, not all randomly.
Maybe you could like that statement about fish-traps still working without bait?
This would relief me somehow.


Where did they say this? Because to me that’s pretty big news. Especially if the damn thralls will start eating fish.


I got it from someone who said it was on the dev stream but dont quote me. As far as how truthful that is idk.
