Request for Seamless Map Integration in Conan Exiles

Dear Funcom Team,

As a dedicated player, I would like to share my enthusiasm for the incredible worlds you’ve created in both the Exiled Lands and the Isle of Siptah. The rich lore and engaging gameplay have captivated many of us for countless hours. However, I believe there’s an opportunity to enhance the experience even further by developing a feature that allows players to travel seamlessly between these maps.

Concept:

Drawing inspiration from games like Ark: Survival Evolved and Atlas, which use cluster servers to let players move between different maps, I propose a similar system for Conan Exiles. By enabling this functionality, players could transfer their characters, thralls, and inventory items between the Exiled Lands and Siptah. This would not only extend the gameplay but also keep the community more engaged by providing new adventures and challenges across multiple landscapes.

Benefits:

  1. Extended Gameplay: Allowing travel between maps would provide players with a continuous stream of content. Instead of being confined to one area, they could explore and conquer new territories, keeping the gameplay fresh and exciting.
  2. Increased Player Retention: By offering more diverse experiences and continuous progression across different maps, players are likely to stay invested in the game for longer periods.
  3. Enhanced Storytelling: A unified storyline that ties together the Exiled Lands and Siptah would enrich the game’s lore and provide deeper immersion.
  4. Community Engagement: This feature would encourage more interaction among players, as they team up to tackle new challenges across various maps.
  5. Future Expansions: Implementing this system would allow for the addition of new maps in the future. Players could connect these maps without losing their current progress, enabling the game to evolve with new chapters and stories seamlessly.

Implementation:

While I understand that developing such a system is no small feat, it’s worth noting that a modder has already made significant strides in this direction. The mod “Amunets Server Transfer - v1.1.25” demonstrates that this concept is feasible. You can find more details about the mod here: Steam Workshop::Amunets Server Transfer - v1.1.30. This mod allows players to transfer their characters between servers, proving that the foundation for such functionality exists.

Conclusion:

Implementing a cluster server system that connects the Exiled Lands and Siptah would significantly enhance the player experience in Conan Exiles. It would provide more content, deeper immersion, and longer engagement. Moreover, it would set the stage for future expansions, allowing for an evolving story that keeps the community excited. I urge you to consider this suggestion and look into the existing mod for potential insights on how to integrate this feature officially.

Thank you for your time and for continuing to develop and improve this amazing game.

While I’m not arguing against your suggestion - it is perhaps worth knowing that Funcom already previously implemented server transfers, enabling transfer of characters between maps. This led to several problems, including the imbalance of Siptah items in the Exiled Lands, complaints of ‘pay-to-win’ (since Siptah is a paid expansion), raiders stealing from people’s bases then vanishing to a different server with the loot and, perhaps most importantly, characters being trapped mid-transfer and being lost forever. After a while Funcom removed the feature, I can’t remember whether they have said it is something they will continue to look into ways to make work better, or whether it is an option they abandoned.

Back when the Isle of Siptah first launched, I understand the concerns about imbalance and other issues with server transitions. However, considering the progress made since then, implementing a more integrated and narrative-driven method could mitigate many of these problems. Exploiters will always exist, but a well-designed transfer system with a strong story framework could minimize negative impacts.

The idea is to introduce a story-driven event or quest that would initially transport players to Siptah. After completing this, players would learn to craft a unique sorcery portal that has its own distinct appearance and color. This portal would be built at their base and would link back to their original sorcerer portal. Once constructed, players could travel back and forth between the Exiled Lands and Siptah using this unique portal, with a loading screen similar to existing portals. This system can be gated with story progression and potentially new levels if the level cap is increased in the future. Additionally, players would still be able to construct the regular portals for intra-map travel on Siptah, ensuring each place maintains its own set of portals. Regarding the concern about Siptah being a paid map, this can be addressed by allowing only players who own the Siptah map to join these connected servers. As it stands now, Siptah servers can only be accessed by players who have purchased the Siptah expansion. The enjoyment of private servers would be significantly enhanced with this new option to create clusters, extending the content available to players.

I firmly believe that Siptah should represent the continuation of the player’s journey after removing their bracelet in the Exiled Lands. The storyline could depict the gods intervening as the player attempts to leave, surrounding them with a blanket of fog on the ocean. As the fog clears, they find themselves on Siptah.

Sounds like an interesting approach - well thought out, with in-game rationale and some attempts to mitigate some of the potential problems. Definitely worth including these thoughts with your suggestion (hopefully people/Funcom will read this second post as well as the first, since it really does take it beyond just a request for server transfers, and into something where at least some of the practicalities are offered a good solution). Kudos.

I like the current option in single player mode as it allows me to clean house whilst preserving my character. I can transfer my character from EL to IOS, nuke the EL map once I get tired of a build, then bring her back to a clean slate EL

Thank you :). I have had this idea for some time now. I also had a really good idea for how to make your thralls feel even more alive and add some flair to the DBNO (Down But Not Out) system by adding medical thralls. You could craft a smoke flare, and if your thrall goes down, you could do what you do now to revive them. Alternatively, if you don’t want to risk your thrall going down again, you could throw down an emergency smoke flare, and your medics could come and put your thrall on a stretcher, carrying them back to your camp.

What I love most about this idea is that you would have to protect your rescue/recovery team so they don’t get hit. If they do get hit, it would interrupt the timer to apply immediate first aid, and they would need time to prepare your thrall to be brought back to your camp.

They added the Tavern System, which was really nice and made your camp feel more alive. Another addition I would like to see is a patrol system around your camp. You could set a starting post for your guards and then place point posts all the way back to the start. Alternatively, you could have an option for an end post, where the guards would walk back in reverse.

In another forum thread I also raised the topic of linking the island of Siptah to the Exile map. True, I didn’t describe the technical possibility there so professionally). I proposed making the Age of Trade in the future. It would be possible to make a ship in it and set sail on it to the island of Siptah for resources and recipes that are not found in the Lands of Exiles. This would unlock Siptah Island recipes on the Exiles map. More details here The Next Age - What can it be? - #255 by Morticia

But it seems to me that problems may arise with those who already have a character and bases on the island of Siptah. What to do in this case? How can you delete a character on Siptah without losing your base and tralls?

This could be another way of moving back and forth, but it would require a lot more work and possibly adding open oceans to the game. It would be cool to have a world map similar to World of Warcraft’s, showing all the islands, such as the Exiled Lands, Siptah, and future additions. This approach would keep each island’s portal system separate.

Regarding your concern about deleting characters, there’s no need for that. Characters would simply transition seamlessly between servers/clusters with their thralls, pets, demons, zombies currently set to follow, their inventory, and possibly ship inventory/crew, like in the game ATLAS.

I also had a similar idea to add the ability to craft ships and find thralls with the skills to sail them. You can find my post here: Suggestions to Improve and Keep Adding to the Game. I proposed this idea a long time ago. While this option is more complex, it allows for continuous expansion of the game and the world map.

For those already in Siptah, this would be a significant update and might require a server wipe. Alternatively, they could add new servers with this new map system, allowing everyone to start fresh. Players would then need to build bases on each island or just one, depending on their playstyle, and explore, quest, and gather as they prefer.

Great ideas, definitely a welcome addition should it be even remotely possible…which I think it is not.

As I see it though, a portal might only be the last step. I rather have the story of the Exiled lands played out and you are able to build a ship, maybe with NPCs even and once you have assembled the Key Stone, you are able to flee the EL with your buddies…(head of) Mek Kamoses among them?

Honestly though, I’d rather love to see a naval themed map expansion of both EL and Siptah. Maybe as a precourser of connecting the 2 maps.

I agree with you, We need a ‘War at Sea’ Age, an expansion that brings Shipwright Thralls and other types of thralls for Ocean Warfare. This should be done and fleshed out before they connect the Islands if I am being honest. Would love to explore Ocean Caves for hidden treasures or lost relics. o I have an idea. I want to create a world map for Conan Exiles using AI to visualize it in the style of World of Warcraft. However, I encountered an issue since I don’t have a pro membership. Here’s the information I gathered to create the World Map:

The Exiled Lands:
Description: A large, isolated island used for exiling prisoners, featuring diverse biomes like deserts, swamps, and volcanic regions.
Location: Placed in the western seas, far from the main continents to emphasize isolation.

Isle of Siptah:
Description: An additional large island introduced in the “Isle of Siptah” DLC, featuring unique creatures, building sets, and new biomes.
Location: Situated further away, possibly in the southern seas, with unique cultural remnants and diverse environments.

Hyborian Age and Conan Universe
Geographical Context: The Hyborian Age includes regions such as Aquilonia, Nemedia, Cimmeria, and Stygia, fitting within a mythical prehistoric Europe and North Africa.

Major Regions:
Aquilonia: A powerful central kingdom inspired by medieval France.
Nemedia: To the east of Aquilonia, resembling the Holy Roman Empire.
Cimmeria: A northern region, homeland of Conan, inspired by Celtic tribes.
Stygia: Located in the south, akin to ancient Egypt.

Visual Concept
Style: The map will be styled like World of Warcraft’s world map, featuring detailed landmasses, distinct biomes, and labeled regions.
Map Elements: Main continents and regions of the Hyborian Age, the Exiled Lands in the western seas, the Isle of Siptah in the southern seas, and decorative elements like a compass rose, sea monsters, and ships to enhance the fantasy theme.

“If anyone notices something I have wrong or has additional information I can add to this for when I make this world map, please leave a comment with the missing info.”

This would be amazing! We could introduce a new winged race inspired by the story ‘Queen of the Black Coast’, which, as I understand it, depicts the remnants of an ancient race known simply as ‘the ancient race’. These semi-humanoid beings were once majestic and heroic in stature, resembling humans but with bird-like wings spanning fifteen feet across.

Originally inhabiting a grand city on the banks of the river Zarkheba, they enjoyed a civilization of immense longevity and knowledge. However, cataclysmic upheavals transformed their lush surroundings into treacherous swamps and dank jungles, the river itself turning black with a deadly substance from deep underground. Many perished by drinking this black water, and those who survived began to slowly change.

The winged gods among them, once bearers of great wisdom and power, devolved into pinioned demons known thereafter as the ‘Winged Horror’. These creatures became twisted and malevolent, delving into dark arts and wielding spells that transformed men into were-hyenas under their control. With their ape-like appearance and demon-like wings spanning fifteen feet across, their wings, once symbols of freedom and flight, became ominous shadows haunting the skies above the cursed lands of Zarkheba.

Incorporating their homeland, the river Zarkheba, into the ‘War at Sea’ expansion would be a fascinating addition. Imagine exploring the remnants of their once-glorious civilization amidst the dangers of ocean warfare and discovering hidden treasures or lost relics within ocean caves. This could also tie into the origins of other creatures like the bat demons, perhaps stemming from similar dark rituals or mutations caused by the cursed Black Water.

It’s intriguing to think that their downfall may be linked to ancient powers like Jhebbal Sag, the god of all beasts who lurk in the wild places, influencing their transformation into creatures that embody fang and claw.

I would love to see this place come to life in Conan Exiles!"
