I just started playing again after 4+ years and found a spot to build but there are someones thralls in my building path, cant seem to find any way to get them killed and removed, waiting 2 weeks for a decay timer so i can build there is frustrating and if there was a base there then it has at least been 2 weeks since its disappeared (told by players in server) yet the thralls are still there. Are there any ways to get rid of them and if not why after so many years of the game being released there is no way for abandoned thralls to either teleport to the desert somewhere out of the way or at least be killable.
A large place next to one of my transtone bases recently got admined. The base is gone but all the thralls are still there. They are supposed to eventually decay out. But I question that wiith all the homeless thralls I’m running in to. I know one that had been dancing in place for a couple weeks.
But it isn’t like people aren’t abusing the system by using placed thralls as land claims to prevent building.
I know a couple of exploits but wont share, sorry.
Right but based on what OP is saying, the person is simply gone, the base decayed. Unlikely that it is a player still present.
It’s been reported for months that thralls are not decaying. I’ve experienced it too. There is a whole bunch of issues beyond the summer decay bungle.
A report is only going to make Zendesk’s case load higher and probably affect the player that left. They could have left for a host of reasons, maybe even playing on another server, and getting a suspension/ban from another server they left assuming that the decay system would work as intended is going to rightfully piss them off.
I did it once with MarcosC on a Siptah server and i still regret it, so thanks for not sharing.
Yet i will ask the fellow exile @Jumo one question.
Aren’t there other places that you can build fellow exile?
The map is big enough to find a decent spot and build.
If the server is very populated then i would suggest you not to invest more gaming hours in this server. You know the age of war have brought an outstanding purge system (in the fun part only) but it doesn’t work decent on very populated servers.
So think twice!
No, based on what OP said @Kikigirl, it is much more likely that it was a clan with multiple people and the one who built and maintained the building that decayed (along with those thralls) has stopped playing. One or more members of the clan is still logging in to maintain their own base but the act of logging in is now preventing those thralls from decaying and in turn preventing other players from building.
I would definitely recommend trying to reach the owner of the thralls but without a building tag to know who they belong to, and the likely reduced interval (5 mins once a week), that the owner is present on the server, makes that task extremely difficult. Reporting the player is not only the best option, it is likely the only viable one. If the owner of the thralls is not an ardent rule breaker with strikes against him/her already, it will not result in a ban, simply a suspension.
Reporting someone should never be a players first choice or used in a malicious fashion, but it IS the right choice sometimes.
I am returning player and have friends on this server who have been playing on it for 4-5years, also not many spots to build, I found 1 out of 6 spots I usually like to build on that is free besides the 3 thralls spread in a neat line wearing legion armor so they do not die from aggroing sabers to them lol.
May not even result in a suspension. If its a handful of thralls, they may simply be purged so the area is available. But I do agree its probably a clan who lost track of one of their buildings, it decayed and now their thralls are littering the area. Its their responsibility to clean up errant thralls. And if they do get action, it will be an important lesson. Public space is shared space.
I don’t know we are trying to find out by asking whenever someone different then the 9 ppl I’ve seen log on, none of the 9 I’ve spoken to travel much that way since they just portal everywhere but they did say there was a building there last month for sure. If I can find the clan it would be easy just to ask them to move them but just going on the thrall decay timer which from doing little research says is 15days, someone must be logging in even if its for a second to reset the timer intentionally or nonintentionally. Would be nice if thralls also showed who was the owner…
So you’re doing the right things. If it has been weeks and no one has collected them them and no one is coming forward to say they’re theirs, it’s safe the say they’re probably abandoned by an inactive player. It’s better to have the facts of course, and maybe an active player who is not aware IS refreshing them. The worst case they’re doing it on purpose - imho it is better to err on the positive side of things though.
The decay system for thralls is supposed to be 10 days now, used to be 15. You can check what the server settings are to see what it is supposed to be by pressing Esc > Settings > Server Settings > Building > Abandonment.
However there are 2 known bugs at the moment. 1 is that logged out players are not allowing the decay timer to count down and another where thralls, possibly by setting or being bugged in another way, are not decaying. The second is what I and others have reported multiple times since April.
I agree, I also wish there was a way to determine who thralls belong too.
While others are suggesting you report, the results probably will be not so great based on prior behaviours in the system, it can be quite devastating.
Has there been any action by admins for these situations? I saw someone said they can come and just remove them but how long would I have to wait for them to see this and take action? I am building around for now but I need that space and waiting another 10 days to see if it is truly a bug is inconvenient.
There’s been two yetis on my server at Dagon’s Eye for over two years at least, maybe three. Not sure who owns them, but I even tried to do an exploit or two to get rid of them and nothing worked. One is on top of the plateau by the cliff and the other is literally on the edge of a ruin up in the air. Neither can be attacked or aggro’d by anything. It’s pretty dumb and I’ve just pretty much ignored them all this time.
Which map and approximate location? Even with some elevator and ceiling tile building, would an unconscious Dalinsia or Cimmerian/Accursed Berserker dragged over to them and kept an eye on until they wake up, be able to take either Yeti out?
Edit to add: Here is how a thrall left guarding a small island that I wanted to build on, was dealt with. https://youtu.be/DzQZPq0IXZY
