yeah let’s add laser guns and battel ships. out of lore is out of lore
That could have been a CATasophre if she destroyed the He Man figure.
TBH, the size of the current horses is already too much inclined to the high fantasy setting, i rather have normal sized horses than anything else.
Some of us will never get mods…
so we gotta beg and plead so we can have cool stuff on consoles.
But hey, anything I Ask for, I never get. So there no worries of Funcom ever adding them. =p
Yeah that’s the downside to console, you gotta hope the devs add cool stuff, PC gamers have access to so many things.
stick to the lore please and thank you
I knew someone would point that out. As drachenfeles says, she’s the only example of a vampire in the setting. That said - Conan knows the word “vampire”, so it’s not inconceivable that there are more than one bloodsucking fiend in the world. But I was more referring to what “vampires” mean in modern fantasy fiction.
It is true that Howard’s stories contain many supernatural and otherworldly elements. Yogah of Yag was an alien from another planet. Xaltotun was what modern fantasy would call a lich. In Vale of Lost Women, Conan makes an off-hand remark of flying demons being an everyday sight in the jungles. The head honcho of People of the Black Circle was able to shapeshift into animals.
But beyond the supernatural, Howard’s world was pretty realistic (as far as he understood it). Animals were animals. The existence of the supernatural in the setting does not mean that every law of nature can, or should, be broken. Supernatural phenomena were wondrous and special because they broke against the natural world - it was this contradiction that made the supernatural elements in Howard’s stories have so much impact. It’s different from Stephen King or Douglas Adams’s stories where anything could (and did) happen at any moment.
It’s not only the existence of fantastical elements in the lore, but also how they’re used in the narrative, that makes Howard’s fiction what it is.
The reason I don’t play on modded servers is this:
- Steam Workshop::Glass Constructions and more...
The glass… of the skyscrapers… - When a modder stops support, there almost never someone to continue working on the mod
- A lot of mods have worse quality standards than the original game
I prefer the devs improving the base game ![]()
We should have a sandstone foundation as a mount. When you mount the sandstone foundation, it leaves behind sandstone foundations. WOuld make it easier to spam the entire map. =))
Lmao!
Well put, and succinctly. This is what makes Conan source material special to me.
Most of the modern authors – whose works I enjoy immensely, so this is not a criticism – have a more “sci-fi” approach to the supernatural in their world building. They approach the supernatural as something that can eventually be studied, understood, classified, and organized. In essence, their “supernatural” is part of the nature, and the only thing that distinguishes it from “the natural” is that we, the readers, live in a world whose nature does not include it.
In contrast, the supernatural in the world of Conan was often inexplicable and at least somewhat beyond human understanding. And that’s why I like Howard’s work. It’s also why I enjoy Conan Exiles: it managed, somehow, to keep some of that mystique.
How its used yes, I think alot of users “ASK” for Vampires… and people tend to assume “Oh GOD, not one of those twilight girl fans!” Or assume they wanna suck blood from other players right off bat.
People tend to assume the worse when request is made. XD
They said books are main canon, comics and some of side stuff wasn’t off table.
/shrugs.
The game needs new content… alot of it gets shot down cause it doesn’t fit past certain ratio.
Which seems to set very high…
I assumed he meant Bats. (ever seen fruit bat XD)
Yep, damned fruit bats always hanging out in my garden. Noisy as hell.
Yeah, I know what you mean, I have the same problem, but with Chavs.
