So, your planning a dlc map?

ill pay for a new map. ill pay for 10 new maps till all of the hyborian age is covered.

It isn’t inherently pay to win. The whole point of what I was trying to say is that it doesn’t have to be, if Funcom does extra work that I’m not confident they’ll do well.

For example, let’s say the new map has a new dungeon and that dungeon has a recipe for daggers called “Blades of Treachery” which have to be crafted from “blood obsidian” that only drops in that dungeon.

And let’s say clan A has at least one player with access to the new map, whereas clan B has none. This means that clan B has to trade (or beg) for Blades of Treachery and/or blood obsidian. Clan B is at a disadvantage unless Funcom:

  1. adds the Blades of Treachery recipe and blood obsidian drops to the old map
    or
  2. adds an item to the old map that is on par with Blades of Treachery
    or
  3. adds an item to the old map that is specifically designed to counter whatever is special about the Blades of Treachery

Not everyone who quits does so because of some overwhelming problems. Sometimes they quit because there’s no more content to explore. (Not just with Conan Exiles, but with games in general.) I had played through Pillars of Eternity, but when a new (paid) content DLC was released, I bought it and got back into the game. It wasn’t bug fixes that got me back, it was new, fresh content.

Again, you’re just proving my point of how it is now.

Atlantean Sword.
Tier 3 DLC weapons and armor.

All you need is 1 guy to have that, and he makes and crafts the items for others, just like you said. Its been that way for 2 years, why change now?

Because DLC content so far hasn’t offered extreme advantages. I prefer DLC armor because I don’t have to waste precious hours of my life hunting for a bunch of “cultural armorers”, but that’s the biggest advantage DLCs offer.

Now imagine if Sword of Crom was a weapon that you could access only through DLC.

You are assuming the new map will offer OP weapons/items…which has so far never been announced.

One prime example of how the DLC is an advantage - heavy gear, strength, heat. You need flawless slaver outfit from Grrr Legbiter. In two years since launch Ive never gotten him, and I have invested massive amounts of time to find him.

Buy DLC, aaaaaand any named armorer can make it. Easier.

Next example, find me a cold weather, heavy, strength gear in the game without DLC items.

There is no balance, never has been, and the DLC’s have offered benefits beyond what they claimed.

That’s literally what I’ve said so far, repeatedly: if they allow the players to travel back from the new map and they don’t want the new map to be pay to win, they have to make sure they don’t introduce any great disparity in what the new map offers. It’s right there in all of my posts so far and I’ve done everything I could to make it understandable. :man_shrugging:

Sure, and I’ve also acknowledged that in my previous reply: DLCs offer some advantages, but they’re not extreme. The DLCs are far from “pay to win” and the game in general has bigger balance problems than the slight advantages offered by the DLCs.

The new map would have to be either kept in that same state indefinitely or they could simply disallow going back from the new map to the old one. I’m pretty sure about which way is cheaper and easier.

Partially… If you have to go naked, you can only raid others if you produce the bombs and leave the loot on old map, so if you want to raid, you leave yourself open to counter raids.

Although I’d personally prefer new servers that are only for people with access to new map (whether you can travel between maps or not)

I am about given up on if its productive to care if a new map at all.

I mean really do not get that Funcom in over 2 months not had a stream, no real word from them here on the forums, many posts on many important subjects and once in a while you see their normal comment on a problem, you know the generic “we understand you are frustrated, we have sent it off to the team” comment but no REAL connection with anyone on the forums.

Yes they have answered on bug posts concerning some issues, even one of my bugs but all the forum comments on idea about dodge, roll, weapon nerfs, the big post on how unhappy everyone is with the Thralls and the issues and no word on them, its as if they do not care how unhappy their player base is with the state of thralls.

So they had this big twitch steam, gonna be more honest and open and talk to their community and puff nothing for 2 months. Really makes you wonder why they even bothered with the stream to start with, just smoke up our butts to keep us happy for a few weeks. It is not a good look for a company to hide out and not talk to its players. So no word on anything but they sure took time to make a new launcher, anyone wonder why that? Game filled with bugs and they spend time creating a launcher. Why like players want 15 launchers lol, not.

Seems strange to me but I am just one player.

I have idea like yours for OP thrall health you suggested. You take Conan Exiles off your sysetem, and get another game and play it. There, dealing with bugs for you is now solved.

Good thing I do not give a rats ■■■■ about how you think but wow good way to deal with bugs not ask them to be fixed just tell people to quit the game instead.

Like you told someone to just not use the 20k thrall, even though it makes no sense not to use the best things in the game.

lol no I what I told him was if he did not like having a 20k thrall or saw it AS over powered there was a way to fix that without nerfing all thralls by just using a less over powered in his eyes thrall.

If you have the time, please re-watch the penultimate stream with Alex in attendance. I’ve seen it only once, but what sticks with me is how Alex our Lead Designer looks into the camera and says “this is the time, we want to hear from you.” One stream earlier, he stated that Funcom would be focusing some effort on finding the things that work, and amplifying them. The number of Community Queries they have posted bears this out: they are seeking our input.

Strange you should mention the Launcher, as I think it is actually a positive step. As a long-standing participant on our PvP server, I answer game questions very frequently. If there were one unified source of information I could point to, to direct my new friend, it would be ever so helpful. Pasting links in chat is cumbersome and dangerous in PvP.

Additionally, from the Developers’ standpoint, the Launcher would be an outlet or a portal for getting more information to players in a timely manner. To me, this satisfies your desire for more comms. Just not right now.

Please do not take this the wrong way but time will tell and I am not holding out for it to be a good thing, they have steam and they never even answer people who ask them or tell them anything on their updates, its like those people are talking to a wall. They harding interact on their own forums other then the canned comments. So you think that this new launcher will make it easier to help people. Well maybe it will make it so when someone crys for help they will get an answer sooner then 2 days for when a whole starting area is walled off such as in one posters comment this week, they will get Funcom to even comment on that , or bother telling that person they will look into it. A new launcher is just more things they have to deal with and monitor so less time for them to deal with bugs.

Really if funcom was going to try and reach and help their community they would have a real ticket system that show people they were dealing with or at least seeing the reports on bugs and exploits and with a ticket system they would have to maybe some time close them so we might have a clue a bug gets fixed. I hope you are right on the launcher but we will see.

I have watched that video a few times as it bothered me that even though the words came out of his mouth, the tone and his body language made it for me feel like he had to say it, to keep the community happy. Maybe it was the way he speaks English but it felt forced to me. If I am wrong , will not be the first time lol.

I do not support the whole idea of a new map…

The current map should get an expansion

  • Go overseas to the east
  • Expand the desert to the west
  • Go beyond the volcano (there can be ice or more green lands)

Whatever it may be… a new map will divide players, new players must choose.
And in the end leaves the least fun map unplayed (sure there are a few who plays but it will feel dead).

I believe he’s Russian. In all my life, I have never once heard a Russian ask for help. His mannerisms were similar to those of the ancient pop-culture icon “The Fonz” who was physically incapable of saying he was wrong. It seems to me the mind forms the words but the mouth rebels!

I’m not speaking about bugs, or exploits. Those get handled in triplicate, once they get past the Steam or PSN friends barrier. :stuck_out_tongue:

I mean the everyday, important, experience-influencing information that’s out there in great quantity. We used to have a very robust set of solutions at Steam – I was once a bigshot there  – but when Funcom came here I stopped contributing there as requested. Steam should be a repository for Guides, Mods and other game-interfaced interoperabilities. A one-click, browseable solution in a Launcher will alleviate the guesswork, and difficult-to-render hyperlinks in global or local chat.

I think we should go beyond the volcano as well. That seems like a natural progression. :+1:

Those sleight advantages from the DLC is actually quite big, when you consider the armors, their stat boosts and weather protection…since some of those armors are not available in game. Is that a massive advantage? Not really, but it is still important. Combine the new terrible dodging in the game, and heavy armor is more important now, so specific DLC armors that have the right stats and weather protection become more important. If every set of armor could be modified for hot/ cold, and for stats, this then becomes moot, and the DLC becomes what they said they always would be - cosmetic. New weapons on the new map I can guarantee you (unless they increase the level cap) will have no advantage over the old weapons. Prime example is the new legendary weapons they have added over the last year. None are truly better then any other weapon now since they all get nerfed after release.

So if they all of a sudden decide to lock the map based on new items, it will once again be a massive slap in the face to players.

Uh Vanir armor is designed specifically for cold weather. So your point is moot by your own statement. As for heavy armor why boost it just to negate light & medium armors?

When did they change Vanir to boost strength?
