As a survival game we have plenty of options to hunt, but relatively few to gather. I have previously suggested that it would be nice to have a number of harvestable fruit trees and bushes scattered around the map, much like we do with berry bushes. We could have a variety according to the biome. Four example, prickly pears or figs in the Desert, coconuts or bannanas in the Jungle, apples or grapes in the Highlands, and so on. A step further? Sometimes its the simple things which give the most satisfaction.
While it would be nice if they could be found in the wild, and gave us a reason to go out and search for them, alternatively, we could buy the seeds from a Merchant and grow them ourselves in Planters. They could then periodically produce some fruit for collection. I am still holding out hope that Fruit Trees will happen.
Thankyou for your vote and your input. I also had similar thoughts when contemplating this Shadoza. In two possible contexts; ‘picked’ plants such as berry bushes, plant fibre, false mandrake, etc, and then the second was in terms of varieties of ‘chopped’ trees, such as palm trees, spikey cactus, volcanic plants, etc.
Now the way I figure the game could (potentially) use one, or both, methods to harvest fruit. The first is your way: simply tweek the visual appearance of a numbet of existing ‘picked’ plants such as berry bushes, and change them from dropping berries and seed, to say grapes instead. The same could be the case with say a false mandrake tree (which aside from colour reminds me a bit of an apple or orange tree). Change its colour, and change what the chosen tree gives when picked from false mandrake and seeds to apples. I think you and me are thinking the same thing here! The second which would be different, but equally possible (both methods could operate if needed) would be that when we chop a said tree down with a hatchet, it also gives fruit. For example, chopping down a small palm tree could give wood, vines and bananas/coconuts. Just as chopping down the spikey cactus could give wood, cochineal and prickly pear. I hope this has made sense. The point I make here is that there are a couple of possibilities just waiting to be explored.
Thankyou RichardDelta93. Like yourself, I am up for almost anything which gives more vegetation and plant life options at this point. We can always use more plants and trees around our bases; and a way to replace it. And even better if they gift us some lovely fruit now and then.
Your idea is very good.
I would finally have more fun collecting.
In addition a few cooking recipes and the concept of fruit trees is perfect.
I love CE, this game has so much potential to make the player 1000% addicted to it.
ZEB!!! That level of cheekiness deserves a shout out and a like. I also have the perfect comedy skit video to compliament that statement. However I will send it to you as a PM, as it would likely get flagged.
I voted No: I played the former version of Immersive RP with Conan Exiles in 2017. This version of the mod added fruits to bushes and trees. Harvesting them was destroying the survival aspect at the beginning of the game because you were instantly available to satisfy hunger and thirst.
Oh absolutely in favor of this one. Particularly the planters one: As a not-really-recovering hops-o-holic, more plant options (or suggestions for same) are always appreciated
I was a little surprised that you voted no BiJay, but I suppose we had to disagree on something eventually, took us a while. To me the thing is we can already eat berries straight off the bat, so I dont see why not with other fruits? Furthermore, as soon as we can craft either a Beehive or Fish Trap, food ceases to be a problem anyway. It sounds like the ones in the mod you used needed a balance. Ie-you wouldnt want to recieve absurdly high amounts from them, or have an apple offer as much hp restoration as Roast Haunch. I know Im exaggerating here old friend. But if they are well balanced, we wouldnt need to eat them all the time (much like unappetising fish and shellfish). They would be a nice touch, so more variety in food and decore, and hopefully a handful of new recipes.
Shadoza that sounds absolutely awesome! Many of the things which you have listed here have been on my wishlist along with Fruit Trees for sometime now. I would buy this in a heartbeat.
I would agree if the fruit trees and bushes only grow at special places at the river for example. They shouldn’t been spread over the whole landscape. They also only should grow under defined circumstances if you want to plant them. It would be cool that temperature effects could take an affect on such a System.
Good thinking Shadoza, I had not even considered the Dryer at this point. I feel that this would offer plenty of potential for new recipes.
Thanks for contributing zerog. I know you dont often weigh in on issues outside of PvP and balance. I agree that this feature would encourage us to venture out and explore and collect more, and that is good from a longevity point of view. They also have the potential to lead to some new Recipes too.
Thanks @Oduda and @Mikey. That is part of the beauty of the idea; they are potentially up to three features in one. 1) a new source of food, potentially including recipes, 2) a new set of items to find and collect via exploration, Fruits and seeds alike, and 3) a new source of plant life/shrubbery for the homestead. This equates to not only more Placeables, but more options to replace lost vegetation through.
PS- on a side note @Mikey, I like the idea of having more plants in general, and would like it even further if some of them took on a greater role in alchemical creations at the Firebowl Cauldron.
