Stop the constant FU***** rain!

If they fix the ‘interior rain’ glitch, is that enough? Because I am fine with the frequency.

Honestly 75% rain 25% dry or 50/50 would be fine with me but I understand that I am in the minority.

I live on the border of the Highlands and the Desert. My base is devided right down the center of where the ghost fence used to be.

Ill see if i can get a video going

If they do, I’d be so happy (like deliriously happy) I personally wouldn’t much care about the frequency of the rain, which isn’t that big of a deal and is more just a matter of preference anyway.

I’m just not holding my breath for that to happen, given that Tascha has stated it would be difficult to do (i.e. time intensive) and Funcom are already bailing water pretty hard with a bunch of issues, all while still trying to implement new content.

So a reduction in rain frequency might be the best we can hope for unfortunately.

Nearly all of the friends I have introduced this game to have mocked the ‘wet floors indoors’ and how does one explain that away? They forgot to make ceilings stop rain?

The bright glare from light sources inside wet buildings is ludicrous and I would be very disappointed to learn that fixing this is no longer a priority for them. The game is already incredible in so many ways, and coming along nicely in others, but this is a really annoying problem to overlook.

Sunshine is a rare treat in the Highlands! LOL

Exactly. If I wanted sunshine I would build in the desert biomes.

I don’t personally have problems with the rain frequency myself, but with the fact that it doesn’t feels random when it rains and when it’s clear…

I mean, I can almost predict “Clear sky for about 10 mins? I’ll will sure rain in about 5 mins after I step outside my base”, and what I mean by that is that you can’t enjoy a big stretch (like a whole play-session) of clear weather, is not something that happens… at least in my experience, if you sit to play the game and stay sit for about 2 to 3 hours and you’re in the rainy regions, you’ll have to deal with rain at some point and most probably it’ll be raining for the most part of your session.

EDIT: It’s the same with the sandstorm… it’s too frequent and constant to feel special, it’s just an irritation (can’t see anything!) you have to endure for a bit.

There’s no rain in the Highlands … it’s liquid sunshine

The sandstorm infrequency seems pretty okay now (at least from my single player experience), but definitely way, way, way too much rain. Please give us working weather control so we can adjust the frequency of the rain to what we like. Let players who like the rain, keep it (or even increase it), but let players who don’t like the rain be able to reduce it, schedule it for night only, or even turn it off completely.

Would you be opposed to less sandstorms but longer sandstorms?

That would actually be good idea… sandstorms should always present at least some danger when you’re outside. Even the mask shouldn’t protect fully from it.

Yep, it’s an awful bug. Really egregious. Not a good look.

Sometimes things that seem simple from outside the coderoom can be more difficult to implement or fix than one would think. Yet it does make you wonder what’s going on in there…

I suppose they would be able to devote the resources towards it… if they didn’t still have to fix the stuttering/performance issues, address the purge malfunctioning, deal with undermeshing & various exploits, and fix a multitude of more serious bugs (including ones they just introduced with recent patches) - all while continuing to implement more content and trying not to introduce too may new bugs with each patch/update…

I strongly suspect this game needed more pre-production time, and we’re now all paying the price for the lack of it.

I seem to recall someone (maybe Joel?) basically came out and said as much at one point, about how it pretty much released when it did because the money guys upstairs were pushing them for it, whether they felt the game was actually ready or not. (See also stuff like the pets update that was supposed to be included at launch coming out afterwards instead.)

No, not at all… I’d like for it to be a bit more hazardous, but I don’t really mind it the way it is now, it’s just that is too predictable… to the point that I’m playing and doing stuff outside and I suddenly realize “hmm… no sandstorm for a while, it’s probably coming very soon!” and yep, not 2 mins passes and there it is!

IMO it’s just needs to feel like a real sandstorm! Meaning that if you’re out you’d want to get inside as soon as possible or risking losing your skin

But in that case, you would need to be able to see it forming/coming with enough time to prepare for it.

It’s not a real sandstorm though. It is magical.

Yeah I know! That’s why it doesn’t bothers me that much!

EDIT: Rain, on the other hand…

I would be happy if they just reduced the frequency. Over by the mounds, near the snow region it is so beautiful when it is not raining. Then the rain starts up again after a few minutes of no rain, and it gets all dreary again.

Maybe the Highlands should have less rain. And sandstorm should spanw a pack of beasts like the intro…but sigh…

I agree. Maybe just north of the black galleon is where they spawn at.

Maybe as the grid goes
row 1= no effect
row 2=minimal sandstorm effect
row 3= stronger sandstorm effect
row 4= sand beasts inside it.

It should only have a chance to spawn anyway and even then I’d expect a lesser version of the sandbeasts, perhaps comparable to panthers around the central areas and maybe comparable to tigers in the northern desert areas. They shouldn’t appear anywhere near the river.

It would certainly make the sandstorms feel more special and not just like an annoyance.
