Stop the manipulative FOMO tactics, and you will sell more in the Bazaar

Google “what if” :man_facepalming:

What ifs are for children. What if I’m dead tomorrow with a 40k CC balance?

Then I get the balance. Duh

I’ll donate it in my will for latrines to first comers.

Neither Tencent nor Funcom invented FOMO formulas. Urgency, scarcity, and fear have been part of marketing for centuries. The technique has only been refined and undoubtedly become the best strategy for generating profit, especially in the gaming market. Funcom won’t change this; the most significant investment they made in Conan Exiles was making it compatible with this business model. The announcement of “Funcom ID” was the turning point. And it was the best investment because it worked, plain and simple. There’s no use questioning; as a profit strategy, it was a sure shot. Funcom is so confident in this that they release an update fully aware that it’s full of bugs, bans a bunch of players unfairly, and closes the year with the certainty that transactions will still be happening normally.

There’s no point blaming players who buy items from the bazaar. They just want in-game items, and this is the only channel. If there’s a villain in this story, the players are the victims. There’s no way to fight this system. But there is a way to thrive in this system. Exercise self-control, take a breath, and understand that it’s just a game. Most importantly, don’t create a dependency on any game. Is a particular item worth X dollars? Buy it! If not, use your money for something that is worthwhile. Life goes on.

I think most items in the bazaar aren’t worth the price, especially when I can have complete AAA games for the cost of a construction pack. So, I choose the new full game (a simple cost/benefit calculation and comparison). Instead of having a giant chessboard with no functionality in a survival game, I save money by buying Chess Ultra and have a complete chess game. But if there’s someone in the world who prefers to have a cosmetic chess game in Exile Lands for decoration propose, that’s fine too! Each to their own choices, paying the price for those choices!

I have it too, hue hue.
I also have the useless chessboard with no functionality in Conan lol.

I set it up once intending to play a game on it… needless to say I didnt. Realized after placing piece 2… it still looked like someone at my base had some culture tho.

It is a pity indeed. I wanted to play it with my friend, because we play Chess Ultra together. I thought, maybe if we are in Conan, we could get some fun. But he could not move the pieces, he did not own the DLC.

Well…maybe two.

This strikes me as a loaded question, but I will play ball. The answer already lies in my previous post Erjoh, where I declared my intentions to buy it.

“I have been waiting for the Gibbett to reappear alone for months now”.

So in case there any doubt in your mind, yes I would have. I am not one for impulse buying, I give all purchases careful and thought out consideration. Especially with regards to items which are pretty lousy value for money like those we see on the Black Lotus Bazaar. I did not wish to purchase it in the Headhunter Set because I) the set was WAY too expensive, and II) there was nothing else in the set that interested me. For the sake of transparency, to date I have only purchased 3 items from the BLB:

They were: 1) the Sandstone Building Set & 2) the Stormglass Building Set, because unlike almost everything else else on the BLB, they were actually reasonable, value for money. 3) the Crom Floorspray, for three reasons. One, I am fanatical about Crom. :mountain_snow: :metal: Two, I pledged I would if they put Crom items on the BLB, so I wanted to honour my word. Three, I wanted to contribute to showing Funcom that there is a market and demand for more Crom items, and hence enact positive change.

But regarding the Bazaar more generally. Anyone who believes that the pricing or strategies being used on the BLB are A-ok, is either filthy rich and money is not a concern for them, or is being a sicophant. And the excuse that ‘but everyone else is doing it!’ does not wash with me.

Sort of. I put it out there to you because I know me and if it was there all the time, I wouldn’t buy it until I was at a point where I didn’t need to sacrifice other splurges. By limiting access, it forces me to rethink my weekly expenses and determine what precisely I need and what can be dropped to get the desired digital content.

But more specifically about that gibbet, while you can make it fit in a 1x1x1 square, it’s not that easy. It’s like the improved furnace in that you have to place it and build around it. If you are trying to do corner gibbet alcoves with the dungeon set, it fails (although I only spent 10 minutes trying before just moving on).

I was one of those that bought the full headhunter set for the gibet alone. I have not done much with the other stuff. That was a regret purchase but I was still PVPing and recognized the advantage gibbets have against WoP within a stealth set up.

At this point I don’t believe you even know what you are asking anyone to substantiate. You just seem to be disagreeing for disagreement’s sake. Being a contrarian isn’t a substitute for a personality.

Your attitude towards others on the forums is terrible. I’d suggest reading up on the forum code of conduct, treat others how you want to be treated or shut up and leave. Don’t bother trying to reply to this comment, you’ve been permanently blocked.

shouldn’t that be ‘first goers’?

MF! I thought I was all planned out for this chapter’s purchases but noooooo. there is some cool life-size chess pieces and tiles out right now.

Are those tiles foundations or ceilings or both?

Only foundations, white and black, and the pieces of chess.

Those foundations are prettier than the ones in the Argossean and the Roman DLCs.

Your first thought upon returning to the game was literally to drop hundreds of dollars to buy everything in the store? Jesus… christ. I mean it kind of defeats the entire argument of your post, obviously people like you are going to buy all the crap anyway.

Whales like you are why this system is the way it is and by doing what you did you only reaffirmed to them how successful the model is. Like those morons who spent $10k-$100k on diablo immortal just to make a youtube video about “look see how predatory it is!”

Got a base that’s about to get its floors redone

People who have the ability and desire to make purchases are free to do so. That is their God-given right. They are not any less or more intelligent than the rest of us. They just have different priorities or if they did have the same priorities, they have more of them resolved.

People need to swallow their pride, and suck up the jealousy and envy of others to curb the ego before making such statements.
