Thanks for opening this poll @Ryu-Salazar as i think this will help both the developers and players to see what they liked or don’t like about the event as well as for them to explain why here in this thread.
I voted yes, but with option for private servers to turn it off.
As well, I think what the event is, is to test how hard to make an event. It doesn’t have to always be holidays. It can be any number of Lore events for Conan. And by running a more “fun” version, they can see what bugs it causes.
I am almost certain I am not the sole one to turn everything to low in order for clanmates to see me without lags. I could use a better system.
Though I guess I should torture my system every once in a while. It should be the range we see stuff, right?
Events are fine with me, generally speaking. The problem with this one is that it drastically changes the overall atmosphere of the game. It just doesn’t feel like i’m immersing myself in the Hyborian Age any more, but rather a cheesy monster movie.
If they’re going to do events that drastically change the look and feel of the game like this one does, then they should be rooted in lore and not inspired by real world holidays.
On nearly every non-official server, nighttime duration is greatly reduced…because hey, everyone likes night, right? There’s nothing more enjoyable than game mechanics that prevent you from seeing what’s on your screen. That’s why I play games! Permanent twilight - it baffles me that no one at Funcom Three Stooges head-slapped the first person to suggest it.
For Halloween, it would have been nice to see a red/orange over exposed hot color filter (think Hades/Hell) for the day and the cool blue/purple filter for night. But hey, maybe next year.
Dont listen to these whiners FC, the event and its color theme are great and LOOK GREAT on my system. Maybe people need to upgrade their potato PC and monitors…
Very poorly thought-out. It staggers me to think that not only did someone think subjecting players to a real-time week of darkness was a good idea but that the idea survived review and made it to release. Also the mudflation from those loot meteors is just ridiculous. By handing out bucketloads of end-game loot, you’re actually preventing people from enjoying a large portion of the game.
A better approach might’ve been to only have the meteors during the usual night-cycle and contain useful amounts of resources or small amounts of tier 3 structures rather than end-game gear. Perhaps XP boost potions.
Donnoh… after 7 months of trying to get a legendary crafter to spawn, it feels good to actually have some legendary repair kits for once on official servers.
There’s just a certain portion of the player base that cares about Halloween… I’m not one of those, it’s not a thing in my country.
The fact that they didn’t thought about the option of disabling it for us single players is baffling. All in all, if I don’t want to stay in darkness for a full week the only option I have is to prevent the game from updating until the event is gone. I’m not amused.
EDIT for update on the matter:
Tascha mentioned in the official thread that they’re looking at the possibility of adding more options to control the event including tuning down the darkness a lil bit maybe… so, I’m more amused now
Yay for not having to fight Steam wanting to update the game for all week!
I care little about Halloween, but I like the event very much.
Love the ingame atmosphere and Santa Claus meteors are a nice touch, plus the game with fixed lighting runs way better
Well done.
Update : this was a comment made in the begin of the event, and I was unaware about the overly rewarding loot table…
