Terrible update

The one good thing about this yet again terrible patch… is it finally made me realize that this dev team is incapable of running any game.

I am officially un-excited for the upcoming Dune MMO.

They’ll just destroy that as well.

They are going to release it in early access totally broken, then for the next 5 or 6 years they will produce “updates” to fix it, and then they are going to show us the middle finger and make Conan 2 (which is going to be released in early access, just read any article about Funcom and their games)

Being put back in the next hotfix.

Thank you for the update Elie. And for moving the release to early in the week instead of making us wait over a weekend for things to get addressed and rolled out. I knew I should just not log in for a week after this release. One would think that being banned for 5 days last release because I buy things in the Bazaar would have taught me a lesson. I am sure you are already aware but I did not see this specifically mentioned that those items we cannot move from our inventory or to/from boxes can also not be equipped. And 100% logging onto official server resulted in sinking into the foundation and now I cannot move, climb or anything. Just looking at the inside of my body. Why oh why do these issues not get fixed when they are raised in Testlive?

Completely agree. This update makes the game so much less enjoyable that I don’t even want to play it, and unfortunately it’s for several reasons.

A friend of mine with over 500 hours play time is done with Conan Exiles. A player I know from the Steam forums who has played the game since 2017 is fed up and has decided to quit the game. I also bought the game in 2017 and have over 1200 hours play time and I’m on the cusp of dumping this game for good, too. Why? The most recent “update” was an absolute mess and was a major downgrade in nearly every way possible. Removal of necessary functions, implementing a very poorly designed and ugly UI, introducing new functions that didn’t work properly or made inventory management difficult… and more. Currently the game is borderline unplayable and even though it can be played it’s no longer fun to play - and it used to be. Even with all the bad changes recently up until this update it was still at least somewhat fun to play but now it’s a chore, it’s painful, and I don’t know why they have done this to us. I was hoping it was a bad April Fool’s day joke but if it was they would have rolled it back by now… :frowning:

All the “Age of X” updates have done very little good, and overall they have turned this game into a pale shadow of what it once was, drained the life and the fun out of the game almost completely. It started going downhill when Age of Sorcery launched and despite a few good things in each update since then most of the changes were either unwanted, unnecessary, broken, major downgrades, bad ideas, or a combination of those things.

Time to roll back to Pre-Sorcery. Time for legacy Conan Exiles servers. Time for the fun that this game used to provide to make a comeback.

If they didn’t we wouldn’t be getting this.

You mean back when it had been stagnating for almost 2 years? I came back for 3.0 because the game was finally making progress.

As usual you’re wrong. Those fixes are the bare minimum and you know it. This isn’t them listening at all. How do I know that? They knew they would have to revert the item splitting removal before they even put the patch out. We all saw the quote from Douthett. They knew people were going to be unhappy with it but they removed it anyway and now they’ve got people like you praising them for “listening” after they made a mistake that the KNEW THEY WERE MAKING just because they agreed to “fix” the thing that they broke. We all know they shouldn’t have broken it in the first place. It’s time for you to stop sticking up for them.

You’re also wrong about the game stagnating. Just look at the Steam DB info on peak player counts and you can see that it’s really doing no better now than it was back in 2020, 2021, and early 2022. The big issue right now is that the numbers are going to keep getting worse and worse until the game dies, especially if we keep having “updates” like this one that have completely ruined the game for many of us. Plenty of long time players are going to quite over this fiasco, and quite a few already have.

As usual that is your opinion. And since we have already well establish you don’t know the difference between a fact and an opinion…

So yet another word you don’t know the meaning of. You might aught to use google more often.

:ox: :poop:

Are you quitting over this? If you are why are you still here? If not then what makes you think anyone actually is?

I finished closing up shop everywhere.

Since the game is unplayble now, we’re taking a break. If the upcoming hotfix is worth a damn, then I imagine people will come back. Until then, we can all enjoy posting to this forum.

A few of my friends/acquaintances are taking a break. 3 uninstalled and I’m considering it. BVing is still possible so that is it for now.

Hard to let go of a game that has brought a lot of great experiences.

7k hours, many adventures, met some amazing friends along the way. Even made some enemies that turned into friends

Yeah, my partner and I are pretty close to calling it quits with this latest release and we’ve been playing coop since beta. We will see how the hotfixes go and if the next age brings actual improvements instead of a bunch of half baked features. I think this rush to put out a update every 3 months is actively harming the game because I doubt they have time to properly play test or validate their design changes.

Chapter 4 is super buggy and and very few if any of the changes seem to improve the game and instead feel like regressions.

Why are you struggling so hard with the difference between facts and opinions?

Yes, I will stop playing the live version because of this stupid update. I’m still HERE because my hope is that by talking about the problem, discussing it here on the Funcom forums, that maybe, just maybe, someone at Funcom will actually listen to us.

Yes, others have already quit. If you were paying attention you would know that already. What makes me think that? I don’t think that, it’s a fact. You know, one of those things you don’t understand…

As always - wrong. I know exactly what it means. Perhaps you don’t…

Pretty much this. The only way I’ll be back is if the hotfix isn’t the same puddle of garbage juice that the update was.

Yes, actually, this one is… or rather, was and likely will be.
This one will now wait until the hot fix arrives or another two weeks and some change.
If the “hotfix” takes much more than two weeks, it is not hot enough.
If the “hotfix” doesn’t mitigate the displeasure of this update sufficiently, then it’s not fix enough.

It’s not just this current batch of atrocity that has brought this one to the point of removing the bracelet. It’s the last nearly year of updates. The Age of War has been the Age of good for nothing.

There is nothing praiseworthy about the Hotfix.
It’s like showering accolades on someone for putting a bandaid on the cut they inflicted themselves. Funcom rolls out these atrocious updates and unsolicited changes that make the game significantly less enjoyable at every opportunity, despite having ample feedback from the beta server that it’s going to go over like a lead balloon. Then they mostly roll it back later. It’s a cycle of perpetual enshittification and aggravation that this one does not deserve. Games should be fun and with each passing update, there is some new way the game becomes less fun, even when they roll back their previous anti-fun changes. This one’s time is better spent otherwise.

And when this one is finished playing, this one is finished with this place. This one may look at upcoming updates, but given the trajectory of the Age of War, this game straining at the tether to get to the dumpster. As this one will not be playing, this one will have nothing useful to contribute and will cease to be.

Your “highlighting” is the WORST thing about this UI update. I had all my stuff organized to quickly grab things. I could even swap in the bar weapons mid combat most times. Now I can’t see S**T! I haven’t found a way to turn it off and if I can’t I’m done till they change it or a mod comes up. With mouse and keyboard all the damn hard to see red buttons at the top it’s impossible to pick categories quickly. This was a terrible QOL add.

UPDATE 04/13/2024: The new patch I can turn on/off highlighting items categories and can see my entire list now!!! After looking over things I wasn’t sure if it was a glitch that I couldn’t turn it off before, but glad this is resolved and haven’t seen any more problems with this patch so far.

I don’t get the issues people are actually having moving stuff around. I know there is a bug with one or two of the sorts, but if you set it to No Sort, move the stuff where you want it, it stays.

I’ve been playing the last few days and been quite enjoying the Quick Stack option without having to use a mod. I’ve been able to complete my battlepass runs every day without having to use mods, and the UI features added has made that much quicker.

Combat has been improved over the previous chapter as well.
