Terrible update

A fact: People have left the game over this update.
Opinion: Hundreds have left over this update.

See the difference?

Even the way you worded that proves you’re not actually quitting.

You do? Really? Lets see you copy and paste and see if you learn anything. The word is “stagnation”, go ahead, google it.

First you have to go someplace, and how nice you already given yourself an out

Thought they said it would be out this coming week.

‘Aim for’ - Andy was very careful not to commit to a specific date.

I feel bad for Andy.

I am pretty happy with most of these changes. Except for a few stations that now need some of their UI to be updated, like the sorcery bench. QoL changes have been for the better for me. I love the new same item stacking. More sorting options didn’t matter to me before but the changes have not bothered me so no worries there.

I don’t really care for all the challenge changes for the pass but I also do not agree with the idea of passes in the first place so again not much of a change for me there.

Then there is the new dye system… I can not fathom this one. GIve it enough slots to at least carry allt he colors of fyes. Or even better just have all the dyes be colors on a swatch that crafting dyes or adding found dyes adds uses to since it all has to be done on the station anyway. Most tedious for me though is now I can not see what a dye will look like on my thrall as I am going, and since the item view never matches what it will actually look like in game it jsut means even more steps in some cases.

No - Andy is the Community Manager - he leads the team that tries to communicate with players. He has no say in development.

You’re right. Got him and Dennis mixed up.

They also say everything they do is for a good reason.
They also said they wouldn’t push out updates before weekends or holidays.
Then there was the time they said, in response to QoL requests on console, there is a mod for that…
This one could go on.

Their promises are worth less than the electrons used to convey them.

On a less vitriolic note, things come up and roll out gets delayed for reasons no one can foresee. Deadlines are always suggestions.

This one’s statement stands, however, as patience is a finite resource.

In retrospect I hope they can see that releasing an update on schedule is not a better a choice than taking time to fix problems that were found during testing.

Just to toss in, you know how that would go over with the “are we there yet” players. When the day hits they think that update aught to be ready by, they will start posting. And it wont be pretty

The beta servers are not for testing. Full stop.
They may have filled that role once, but for years now bugs caught in beta have been pushed out whole to live.
More likely they are an advertising tool, letting content creators make videos to show off the new “features” and build what passes for hype around here.

Another issue is that they probably don’t have unilateral control over their release schedule anymore.
Funcom is a wholely owned property of Tencent.
Their masters may be the ones telling them when something will be released due to some accounting specifics.
They are on a release treadmill.
The initial pace was unsustainable, hence the chapter 4 of Age of War. Which is, in this one’s opinion, a hypothetically positive thing, giving more time to polish and perfect updates …
That is, until this one saw what that update contained.

Instead of a slower pace of higher quality, more refined updates, we have simply a greater bulk of half baked trash.
Which this one is increasingly seeing is not a bug in the system, but rather the system operating as intended.

I’d read that may also why the change to the battle pass. Something about a change in the laws in tencents country of origin.

This one is going to try to keep this very succinct, an extremely rare effort…

One of the bureaus within the CCP is actively against systems that encourage/reward/mandate daily login or participation with online video games.
There are a whole host of reasons why this has reached the regulation point there and this one has no desire to have a greater discussion about politics, economics, and generational trends in China. However, for those who want to delve deeper down this potentially related rabbit hole, the NPPA is the pertinent governing body, and there is currently quite a bit of flux on the matter.

That would explain…

Censored test servers

LOL. Same rhetoric from you every time, nothing original.

Same item stacking was possible before this awful update. Inventory makes no sense now. It is just a huge mess. Need to install a re-vert changes option for those of us who hate these stupid updates. Can’t scroll to container, have to stop and click. Get to bottom of inventory and it throws you back up to the top, so you have to keep messing around. Select items and it is trying to find like items rather than just friggin moving the one already scrolled to. Curser jumps all over the place. Terrible Terrible change to inventory. Such a pain now to sort or do anything inventory related. and of course the splitting to exact amounts, that will be fixed in a year or so. Stop making everything worse.
