‘out of the box’ they are nerfed, ‘dude’.
You have to grind a lot tot get them to the strength they used to be.
And if you are unlucky and get a negative perk (like -5 str for a fighter), you can start gagain

Purges are survivable[/quote]
They are now, kinda, unless you are unlucky like me and get 3 strong purges in a row.
But with a third of the HP gone and 40 reduced damage dealt they will die a lot faster and kill a lot slower.
increasing the chance of not surviving considerably.
On our server we have a pact that anyone can call the rest of the server for help and often it’s needed.
But that is not the case on all servers.
But like I said, I’m ok with the nerf as long as they fix the purge bug and balance it more.
Lower level purges are ok, higher ones will need to be nerfed.
I agree that getting a negative perk can be disappointing, and while i dont necessarily think it requires you to break bonds and go get a new one, I understand how you might feel that way.
PvP also has the same thing, and while we will level them faster, they are also going to be killed by other players, and our wheels can be blown into and our taskmasters stolen, which then we need to get again before we even bother getting more fighters.
Literally 1 boss in this game (the arena champion) even takes a thrall from 100% hp. A relic hunter, or a berserker or any good t4 in any flawless heavy armour doesnt ever go under 90% hp in PvE and it’s still the same in testlive.
People complaining because they don’t want to fight purges, they don’t want to fight bosses, they don’t want to spec a character, they don’t want to level thralls, they don’t want put a weapon and help the thrall…
In all seriousness, why are you playing at all? don’t you rather watch a movie?
Instead of nerfing thralls, they should buff the player – to the point that thralls no longer “one shot” players in PvP yet are still able to handle bosses in PvE.
Its player health that needs buffing up to the level of thralls.
I just took a new RHTS fighter through the Wine Cellar on the Testlive server. It was using flawless epic warchief gear without bulked plating, and an Argossian 2h sword. I speed pulled it into every pack and never let it take a healing break. I didnt use any healing arrows and the only food it had was gruel. It had the following stats, which lets be real are not very good.
I could have used Warlord armour to give it more HP and make it survive better, I could have given it better food or healing arrows but he still survived like a champ. The boss fights are slightly longer, but it is by no means any harder. I actually felt more compelled to get in there and crack skulls with him.
Even in Argossian Mariner gear (the light armour) I only used 30 haunch and tea. It’s just not as bad as people are saying it is.
No shirt, But throwing insults at people who enjoy the PvE content, and then throwing further insults at them when they are voicing their concerns in a constructive way just makes you the PvP crowed look bad.
Do you know what a strawman argument is, Cyryus?
That wasn’t really my point.
My point was that the thralls were nerfed.
Even training them isn’t a guarantee to get the ‘old’ stats because of the negative perks.
And how is this a problem when their defense is good?
It’s just funny how they’re more focused on thralls, than fixing and patching all of the other broken stuff that’s been broken for 12+ months. Take the Building DLC pieces that don’t have animations when you destroy them. This stuff should have been hotfixed a week after they were released. But instead Funcom are rushing out lame nerfs which is going to effect balance on other things.
You do realize that this is your own fault? If you wanna do something yourself take a fighter 3 without any good gear and do the dungeons yourself? No one forces you to take a good (almost fully lvled) thrall with gruel to a dungeon. Not a real strong dungeon to begin with. Try to walk by the arena champion and see how low a thrall actually can drop. If I wanna be a part of the experience i can make sure to do so. So should you.
It’s like you’re complaining to your boss that your coworker did all the work without you and if he asks you if you tried to participate in the work you tell him no…? Like, please listen to yourself.
Ahhh great. More offline raiding posibilites #GodsAreBack.
Please don’t ruin pvp by bringing avatars back. There will be no fun playing as everyone needs to be out farming hearts for god bubble to MAYBE survive offline raids.
The game is fine without them.
I am not a very experienced player in Conan Exiles. I haven’t even reached level 60 yet. I do have experience in many other games, including a few similar ones like ARK. I’m not going to say if thralls are too strong or too weak, I don’t know (yet). I don’t even know if they take too long to level, my best one is only level 8.
If you want to make the player to feel like the hero, then nerfing the thralls is not going to do it.
It’s about agency.
Either:
-
Make the player be able to go toe-to-toe with the bosses. I have tanked nearly all 40 and 25 man raids in World of Warcraft from the start of the game until the Heroic Lich King battle in Wrath of the Lich King. Having a massive health pool and taking the hits made you feel heroic. (I’ve also healed and done dps, in WoW it really was more of a team of heroes).
-
Make you directly control your minions/thralls/pets. I have very little control over my thrall(s). This was different for a Hunter in WoW, or even the dinosaurs in ARK. I think the Mastermind in City of Heroes did it best, I could control up to 11 minions and have them do interesting stuff on different cooldowns.
One of the things I really disliked about World of Warcraft, is that after they introduced competitive PvP, they would start changing things to balance PvP that would hugely affect PvE. I have never cared about PvP, except a few slower games like World of Warships. I don’t care if your Druids are overpowered in 3vs3 arena, but I do care that you now made them useless and a lot less fun to play in my PvE content.
My point is, that you need to balance PvP and PvE separately, or you are going to never achieve any satisfying result, as players are just a lot smarter than mobs.
And if you want the player to feel like the hero, then you need to give them agency, instead of watching two NPCs fight each other for minutes, while maybe occasionally shooting a healing arrow, because the boss would one-shot you, if you got close.
What you are doing is just making the game more boring, and maybe improving some things in some PvP scenarios? Make controlling thralls more interesting instead, if a game from 2004 could do it, then so can you.
My guy, if you think having health and damage while fighting bosses is optional, you’re gonna have a bad time.
Gods were and are a major selling point of this game. It’s also an equiliser and allows smaller groups and solos to actually hurt 10 player zergs with 100 thralls.
I have some fairly strong feelings about this patch. I don’t think it’s going to have the desired effect. I’ll try to keep an open mind. I just have one question: Is this nerf going to effect ALL thralls that are already placed on the server? Or will this be just for new thrall? I have a lot of time invested in my army and I’d like to know if their power is about to be cut in half to will it just effect any future thrall I place.
Strong enough to test it out? Testlive is available to all PC users.
Above that, I can play using only one hand and with one eye closed. For challenge. Yes? Because why should I use and enjoy all the gameplay features that the game has?
I don’t understand why people keep writing this nonesense across the forum. The game has a follower feature. The devs designed a whole system around it. Improved it TWICE and keep working on it. And here you are suggesting me to not use it. What? Don’t use my best gear? WHAT?! You people are nuts.
