Iâve been thinking on this all weekend. The pillow is listed in the Creative Mode build menu under Seating, along with everything else that actually lets you sit.
The promo art is carefully cropped so that you donât actually see if the characters are sitting on them or not. Iâm guessing, not. It appears in hindsight that those sample characters are all likely players, not NPCs.
There are three possibilities:
1 - It is intended to act as a seat for NPCs, and some bug or mistake happened that is currently preventing it from functioning in this role.
2 - It is intended to act as a seat for NPCs, but the coding for this was not finished in the correct time frame, and the decision was made to release this pack in an unfinished form and address it in a hotfix later.
3 - It was never intended to act as a seat for NPCs, but instead to be purely decorative. This treads VERY close to false and/or misleading advertising, given the promotional art.
I would be curious from Funcom which of these is what the situation is. However, I donât expect them to say anything, and this absence of communication speaks loudly to me.
Yeah, itâd be really nice if theyâd at least acknowledge this. Maybe a fix when they do a mid January patch but without even a report received tag, weâre all just shouting into the void.
Uhm, No 2 would be quite, uhm, misleading, too. If one knows it doesnât work as a seat, it doesnât matter if thatâs due to a bug, unfinished work or pure malice. One shouldnât advertise it as a seating then.
The item offered has little description; it doesnât say âseatâ anywhere in the picture. And there might be some idiot somewhere who believes that a false advertisement isnât false if it only implies something without spelling it out. Luckily, thatâs not how the legal system works (âNo, Sir, I didnât steal the car, I just, uhm, borrowed it for an indefinite amount of time.â - âThen I wonât sentence you to do prison time, but to being set free in four years.â).

I think the description of the pillow (if you click on the item in the bundle) does actually say seat.
I am curious, have the Devs made any official announcements about this either?
Not sure if the devs have - but I got a response after submitting a ticket. They suggested using emotes - but did say their team is analyzing it and said to keep an eye on their social media accounts. Iâd wager theyâll update it at some point.
Stand on pillow. Execute kneel, sit cross legged, whatever. Done. If it had a sit socket, youâd be locked into one sit style emote. Same goes for thralls.
Pretty sure most arenât upset at themselves not being able to. Iâm pretty sure many thought they could build a functional tavern using this set and still have thralls visit. These pillows not being actual seats means you have to break the theme to make it functional with the tavern feature.

Even then its a âTavern setâ which means it shoudl work for the tavern system of the game which means Npcs should come in and sit on those âcurrently uselessâ seats right? whats the use of players doing emotes ? it doesnt help with thralls coming in to sit and make the tavern set which was priced at 2457 or so crom coins and to be given such a easy reply and to keep an eye on their social media?.. isnt that how I got duped into buying such an expensive set when it doesnt even work as a tavern set for the tavern system which was mainly introduced for this chapter 3 update and a NEW way to get thralls⊠and also they did say in notes that it could open up posibilities for newer quest line further along the way where npcs might even give quests etc etc⊠some future posibilities type of stuff lol.
But thank you minion for sharing this info. I really do hope they make it work as a seat and to work as the tavern system should work in game - to bring in thralls for us and create an immersive environment and also to to function as any other seat and let players and NPCs to be able to sit on it . All I just want it for it to work the way its supposed to⊠as a tavern set for a tavern system of this chapter 3 age of war update.

Idk what to understand myself yet from all this and they are thankful for our understanding already without us even saying hehehe⊠Oh well⊠I hope they fix even the rhino silent legion saddle which clips through legs of the seated player on top of the silent legion saddle on rhino too while theyâre at it with this seat fix for the yamatai tavern set. Only time will tell now I guess⊠Im gonna wait and see what happens⊠their fix towards this will decide things going forward with my purhcases I guessâŠ

i will never buy anything unless i see the review first.
reason? funcom loves to bring Broken stuff in the bazaar, or stuff that does not work correctly. so BEWARE , and wait for reviews.

I think itâs interesting that the npc sitting feature was just added and already itâs expected to just exist. Iâm not making a judgement on anyone who expects this, I just think itâs interesting that brand new feature seems so obvious that it not existing seems weird to a player.
That said, they probably meant for it to be sat on via emote. All normal thralls and players can sit on these via emote. The new seating feature is brand new and they mentioned it doesnât exist for all chairs yet. Will it exist for these? Was it ever meant for these to function that way? Who knows, but with enough player feedback Iâm sure it will get added to the long list of things they donât have the man power to complete.
Were I to offer one more probably reason for the absence I would guess the set was created before the tavern system was implemented and this bundle was created to help sell the Yamatai bar, which would explain the sit via emote functionality.

no, simply no, if it is not going to work as it is supposed to , it either needs to be clarified in the description, or simply make it work as it should, the tavern system is meant to have tables , and chairs (pillows in this case) that should work as places to sit, or to have patrons to use it that way, they copuld have done tall tables and use chairs, but instead they promoted the pillows,.

heck you can even place the tavern to the wall, there is a big gap, (yes there is a workaround). but we as player should not be just using workaround for something that expensive.
the bar feature was probably planned when we were still in chapter 1 of age of sorcery. so NO to thatâŠ
what we are seeing is the lack of testing and funcom rushing stuff that is NOT ready⊠it almost feel they dont care as long as it is pushed out.
same happened with the camel, with the combat changes, with the dungeon set part 2. yamatai pillows, with the fortress (anyone doing it can notice it is not finished , and has a ton of performance problems)

Honestly you should have known better unless youâre new to the game. Donât expect anything you purchase to work.
The vast majority of what you said is speculative. We donât know when they started working on the tavern system and they didnât know when it would be ready for implementation. So to say any date is pointless. We know it wasnât initially previewed in any dev stream until the last one.
The Yamatai bar does indeed have seating and functions identical to all other bars in the game minus the bear cubby.
The initial promo pictures of the set are using normal pillows with emote seating and not the new ones.
So we canât say that these new pillows were intended to be sat on by bar patrons. In fact we have official word in this thread they were intended to be sat on by the normal means, emote.
Pricewise can we say that this is put of line with other prices on the bazaar? Can we say that there is a premium being charged due to the inclusion of these pillows?
No we canât.
We can only conclude that a lot players thought it would have patron seating and that the devs didnât intend it to. Does that mean they wonât change it? We can only guess.
As for the unfinished siege, we were told prior to launch that it wasnât finished. That it had performance issues and so they didnât want to make those worse with decorations until they solved those. That is why they added a fourth chapter to each age.
You inclusion of that part as a reply to me seems to imply that I somehow disagreed with it or anything in my initial text. If you canât see beyond your strawman you can not effect change the way you want it.
Itâs clear the dev team is understaffed and that funcom wonât budge until Dune is completed. So I think it would be better to be more concise and constructive with our feedback, offer them solutions and grievances and leave out the emotion and speculation.
Being confrontational or reactionary simply buries your most valuable and fully justified points under the cloud of âheâs just ventingâ, if it is read at all.
IF UNFINISHED,. DO NOT PUSH IT TO PUBLIC. not that hard is it? there is no need to rush things if not ready, imagine how bad t his will go for some old console players, i lag and have a rgood PC.

why the furlon dungeon set , has missing pieces, in a lot of cases the walls do not align well? with holes, forcing people to keep doing work arounds for something that should be in PERFECT state? as it was behind a paywall ?

why does the yamatai pillows do not work as seats when it is clearly shown in the description (it says : âa firm pillow that is commonly sat uponâ ??? if this was not intended, mark it as a regular non funcional decoration, (there are pillows in the game that i could use it as the ones shown as places to sit using the emotes, (the one that looks good , is behind a paywall too)

why i got jailed for a couple days from playing the game with a negative crom coin? (who tested this âfeatureâ? i had to pay the equivalent of 8.600 crom coins to allow me get back into the game? yes i got the crom coins reinbursed, regardless they really screw things up with the update.

it tooks 24 hours for @Xevyr to fix some of the issues, yet we all have to wait a full month to get something that should have been working since day 1.
9, who came with the bright idea of launching a major chapter change just before the holidays? they should have postpone it to mid january. to have something more polished.
they are making a ton of money⊠yet we still have all kind of problems⊠why? understaffed? hire more. (not too hard) when this is the only game t hey are making money from. they should be more careful with their income.
