Continuing the discussion from New Year, New (or same) Wishlist:
So looks like some of last year’s wishlist came true! We have Sorcery (of a sorts!), and encounters are now a perpetual thing, negating my wish to enable admins to restart them, although giving us the power to choose which encounters occur and at what frequency would be awesome! We got a thrall overhaul too! But alas, still no separation of perks between archers and fighters and what’s worse, pets are weaker than ever. We have an ongoing rework of pets in play, but the early returns aren’t forecasting well. Please look into this further, FC, I hate how I’ve gone through several Mr. Fuzzycuddles’ because a greater bear is just an inferior follower to regular thralls.
As usual, I’m gonna ask for that Level 7 difficulty Purge: The Avatar attack. And no, I’m not talking about blue people from Pandora, I’m talking about the wrath of the Gods themselves coming down to smite us in our foolishness for daring to challenge their will.
And another dead horse to beat: Crafter thrall appearance customization. Lemme dump that thrall into a station that brings up a UI that I can use to change their clothes. Like the illusion system, I’ll use pre-crafted articles of clothing to dictate the look.
Still looking for enhanced admin tools for server masters, FC. We shouldn’t have to download Pippi to get half of what it offers.
And now to the meat of my wishlist:
About that thar Sorcery.
I believe you still have a lot of work to do. Spells should be useable in Dungeons. Period. AGI and GRT need Corruption trees. There’s still a sense that Sorcerous players lack that feeling of “dark mastery”. There’s some good feedback in the thread I just linked. Please think on it. And to be honest, and this is just my opinion, the whole “each spell must have a PvP and PvE use” line of thinking may need to be abandoned. You’re offering watered down products that cater to the masses, instead of delivering specialized products that really appeal to separate customer bases that could really shock and awe them. Have you guys considered having sorcerers craft 2 different rods? One that does PvE spells and the other does PvP spells? Oh, and pouch weight. Cut it. Like an amateur wrestler before a meet. Cut that weight.
My new request for this year:
The Age of Religion. The existing system is archaic, borderline useless, definitely outdated, and overall: Uninspiring. The time investment vs. reward for this branch of gameplay is ridiculous. You’ve stated before you don’t want this influencing Sorcery? Fine, but make it useful. It’s such an inconsequential choice and only a hardcore RP player would find any tangible difference between the religions. Give us new recipes to produce zeal. Afraid that more zeal means easier avatars? Then bump up the cost of avatars or give us meaningful alternatives to use zeal and force us to weigh the cost benefits of using zeal vs. saving up.
Another new request:
The Age of Delicacies (lol). Seriously, the food system needs an overhaul. Like, badly. Feasts should have buffs that last a few hours. Sated should last based on the quality of food eaten (basic scraps give a 1 minute duration. The feasts give a 1 hour duration). Make some foods give a wider variety of Thrall and Pet stat leveling bonuses (seriously, no + AGI and GRT foods?) If you have to, make it so feasts need more ingredients to make us earn those awesome bonuses.
Funcom, I like the product. It’s good, but it could be better. Please complete Sorcery, make it worth the investment. Take a look at the sad state of in-game Religions, we can do better than what’s there, can’t we? Food. It’s a pillar of survival. Build, dominate, survive. Overhaul that food system, make it meaningful to the game loop. I’m not asking for fireballs and lightning bolts, I just want to see these systems refined, enhanced, and given greater emphasis to the overall gameplay experience.
And now my biggest ask: More transparency. It’d be nice to know faster when a bug is recognized by the team and that it is being marked for a fix. The Legendary Armor Repair Kit bug took way too long to fix and we had almost no feedback on why or when literally until the patch that introduced the fix was announced. Honestly, I’d even appreciate knowing what you guys want to work on but just can’t for some odd reason.
That’s it for me, I don’t expect anybody to read this, and no, I’m not mentioning the Bazaar because it’s been mentioned many times before. I just wanted to put my two cents out there.
Thanks for the game, Funcom, looking forward to awesome new features coming in the next Age!
Oh yeah…there’s also this:
