Two years, there is no PvP, just Offline Raiding

Most recently my base was protected by archers from above and berserkers, etc. from below, about 50. In epic gear and weapons and sandstorm masks. Now if I had been there they would have fought well, but with me offline they were killed and base wiped in 30-45 minutes. Base was built over two years, withstood Yog dropped by a player imported from another server. Yeah, duh. Anyway, I bought the game thinking I would build a base and other players would fight me to try to defeat the base. Instead I have been offline raided close to 100 times and only raided while I was on once. Just once! In two years.

So I am done. Game promised never delivered. I just build, get offline raided and waste days repairing and months re-supplying. But no more. Conan Exiles PvP just never existed and never will. It will always be just players exploiting offline raiding weaknesses. Some people have no honor and no respect for others and in online games no one will know. That’s why their are game devs, or so I thought.

Weak defenses and lack of traps and the traps we do have have a very low decay timers and easy to handle tralls and easy gassing of pets all add up to offline raid advantage.

Were thrall and pet nerfs made for PvP, though? I can’t recall, but I thought it was because the pvp community thought they were too tough.

Well mainly from what I could tell when hunting with a thrall, but not much when they are just static defense.

I feel you.
I think when it comes to PvP, private servers that prohibit offline raiding are the only place where you can have some fun atm. I stayed away from PvP for two years because of the current raiding culture. I found a private server with respectful people now, that also runs three times better than any official.

Maybe funcom will do something about the PvP crisis in the future. Until then a private server might be worth a try.

There was supposed to be a mode to provide some offline protection, not sure of the progress of that.

This is the last I heard of it:

It’s easy fix first remove snipe from bow. Make it do more damage we don’t need sniper.

Second raided someone should take days not minutes. Best way to do this is have thing auto repair your base. That you put resources in it

So war be based who gathered resources this would depend and who can stop other player gathering resources.

The dynamic building damage is I the game, but has bugs which is whyb hey didn’t release ro official.

The original idea was
mon -Thurs 24/7 raid, with 1 hour dbd. Which meant after the last player in clan logged off, your base could only be attacked for 1 hour, then it was protected.
Fridays were to be current 5 hour window. This would allow for bases and “spam defenses” to be cleared, plus make it where your clan had to be on at least 1 time a week.
sat 24/7 dbd again.
Sundays were no raid days. Kind of a chance to rebuild repair.

But they axed it the week it was to go live.

Now it is low on priority list to fix the bug.

They ever say why they put it on the back burner ?

They finished it, there was a bug and it didn’t work right, they fixed the bug but because of people crying about how it could be “exploited” it was never turned on for official servers.

Presumably it’s used on private servers.

Ouch, that hurts all that work and it just sits not used.

Frankly, I was pretty irritated that a bunch of (imo) short sighted people got their way. I don’t PvP very much, but most of their exploit hypotheses seemed pretty far fetched. And honestly, I don’t see how the status quo is better.

I am inclined to agree with you.

Because pvp raid is the very bottom of their priority.

it goes
PVE-RP
PVE
Modders
PVE-C
PVP-Raid.

In the 4 years it has been around, raid has not had any new features. Its offline Gods and explosives. that’s it

You decided to play on a server that allowed for this. That was on you.

Those servers have been like that for 4 years. Its how people there like to play. Its never been about online PVP. But setting up puzzles for each other to solve every evening you logoff.

Now I agree that isn’t PVP. But that’s the play those people like.

If you want PVP then you should play on a server that doesn’t allow offline raiding. There is quite a few of them. On these servers you will see the sieges and battles you are looking for. Where literally armies meet in battle and have it out with explosions and mayhem going everywhere.

This is an old image, but illustrates the point I am making quite well:

This was a screenshot taken after a major battle. It was about 19 vs 23 or something like that. It was basically over half the server’s online population in the one area fighting. One group had attacked one the day before, then they decided to attack back, but the first group called on all their buddies, and the other group called on allies. It escalated fast. Let’s be honest, when a fight goes down, everyone wants to join in!

It lasted about 3 hours. Hundreds of explosives were used, trebs were used, orbs were used. And even Archery was used (this was during the time of crap archery, but the server was running my mod to fix it at the time).

Finally it culminated with a draw. A cease fire and a truce. The defenders gave back stuff they stole the day before, everyone got all their equipment returned that was looted during the fight. All so people could log out (it was getting late) without just losing their base (RL came first, imagine that!). And about half of us decided to stick around, get some screenshots, and then go meet somewhere for a feast and drinking.

That is a good PVP experience. No sneaking around when your opponent is offline. No hard feelings. No grudges. Just beat the crap out of each other and then have fun and merriment later.

If you’re looking for that experience, then officials should be the last place you should be dwelling on.

You mean like 90% of the playerbase in ANY online game.

But, obviously with the Dynamic Building System Funcom created but has of yet not switched on officials that is not how they invisioned the PvP to work there.

If they did then why create the whole function to begin with ? Outlining is an issue and has guaranteed kept many away as well as driven many away from PvP especially on officials, this a fact btw not an opinion.

Tool for server owners. Same reason we have a mod button, even if officials will never use mods. There’s quite a few features non-modded private servers have access to they don’t use on officials.

Otherwise why not just tick it on?

I mean I get it, I don’t like offlining either and will never play on a server that allows for it. I made that choice 4 years ago.

As people are making the choice to state that PvP is broken and offline raid is a big issue in this charge.

Dealing with it doesn’t mean the problem disappeared, it just means many are awaiting (while playing other games mind you) a correction of this problem before they will return to PvP official servers .
Its a shame this is still an issue this many years later and one that is clearly keeping people away and in doing so damaged the potential population and health of official PvP servers. This also fact not an opinion.

How come? Thralls don’t fight when the player is offline? Because when I get closer to the other players’ bases during buildings damage hours, thralls always attack me.
