Update Destroys fighting system

,

And anyone who doesn’t see it as new skills being required and adapt is what? Hardcore?.. lol

theres no adaption needed, just play boring and passive and gank a player who is away from his team? “AdApTaTiOn” haha lets make the game even easier for bigger squads #RewardGanking gg

Why shouldn’t groups be rewarded? More time, effort, and resources go into forming friendships and cooperatives than any other skill or experience in any game.

But why should we be surprised that many posters lately fail in this regard? These players are guys outside of game that spit on waitresses at restaurants, that mistreat servers, and here they mistreat developers.

No one wants to group with people like that.

Gank squads always had an advantage. I doubt unequip saved you when 5 tried to hit you. Dodge probably could… Which I’m told still do animation cancel.

The new heal system is a way bigger problem against gank squads. But overall the old heal system was super boring and I prefer the new one (but it probably needs some more tweaking).

no in 2019 2 hardcore could take on 6 average easy, your just proving to me you don’t know what your talking about, healing is a problem yes, but movement is key to clutch up, and the old healing was better for fighting aggressively and pulling off 1vX situations

Well you’re proving to me I’m right cos in 2019 we had the old heal system lol.

And I already stated I kind of don’t know what I’m talking about. I play on PS4. unequip/equip was never really a thing on PS4. Yet a bunch of people still enjoy PVP on PS4. (a lot are gone now, but for a bunch of other reasons)

Which proves to me that people can manage without unequip/equip.

Learn to make friends or give up your loot to what you consider average players. They’re not going to change this. This is 2021, this is your new normal. Either whine and take it, or adapt.

The averages are coming for your loot.

I have plenty of clans and teammates on Conan, I’m speaking in terms of the times you get caught out in the open by 3 and your alone, but your replies just solidify that you never have been good at pvp/seen what is used to be like, either that or your some sort of funcom sympathiser that thinks commenting on every thread makes you edgy, because you truly have no idea of the state of PvP, no game should reward bad players by making it easier for zergs and noobs, people with 10k hours who would beat anybody in the past, 1vX or not, are now tied down by the fact healing is trash, and movement is diabolical. anyone with the “this is your new normal” attitude is just a pushover, we fight for a change or we quit for better games.

im not taking your opinion in seen as your ps4 player, so im done debating with you

Yeah the players who always played like you have to play now obviously know nothing about if it can be done lol

the game is a graveyard anyway, im just trying to help its case, for the sake of all the people with countless hours invested, and most are likely to quit

Because it’s a poorly balanced cost.

What does the 1h sword pay for missing with a light attack? Maybe 1 or 2 stamina and a quarter second or less of aimation cooldown. So basically no cost, then you break out of the anim by default. The great sword uses 5 or 4 stamina and makes you stuck in place for 2 whole seconds. For the 2nd half of that, you aren’t even attacking or moving, you are just standing still for 1 second.

It does not get better with its heavy attacks, it does not get better with the 2nd attack… the only ‘fast’ attack is the 4th heavy finisher, the rest is slow and hard to break out of. I have tested it, and it’s even slower than the warhammer by a full quarter second in terms of animation length, and the warhammer has a much shorter recovery from stopping the attack to being able to move again, too. But the 2h sword is stuck long enough for a mob to recover from being staggered and actually hit you back before you can move again. A mob, an NPC of all things. I wish I was joking.

So what is the cost for breaking out of this animation? 1/4th of your stamina in heavy armor, 1/5th your stamina in medium, or 1/6th your stamina in light armor/naked. The cost is equal to an entire combo or even more than a combo, on top of whatever stamina you already spent. That’s not how your emergency-out, the dodge roll, should be used.

It’s as bad for pvp as it is for pve, because the same skillset people used in pvp could be used in pve to take on bosses without the help of thralls or cheesing, or go hunting for thralls, picking and choosing which you kill and which you knock out. It’s gonna be quite bit slower and more challenging now.

We can try to adapt and make the most of it (I know I’ve been doing my best), but we’ll probably never recover unless Funcom follows up with a patch to account for the issues of clunky animations that punish you for choosing not to full combo.

Why because you can no longer “pork” your thralls, or under-mesh, or use the laydown glitch to loot people’s bases without even getting into the base? Or is it because you can’t SPAM Heal anymore or have a thrall one-shot you? Is it because now players have to actually be the better fighter to win a fight?

I couldn’t disagree more. I think this patch has been a HUGE step-up. I even like the addition of the new lunge attack. Playing against NPC is also much more of a challenge and not such a simple task anymore. You have to use good stamina management and strategies to stay alive even in simple camps now.

The game was too simple before and now the fighting and game over-all is more challenging and (IMHO) a more level playing field.

It’s a tough break for grievers though. They won’t be able to just harass players anymore. They will actually have to be the better fighter to win.

Thanks to these changes we’re back to being a full clan and everyone is having fun again. When war comes…and it will…We will be able to compete again. Especially now that thralls require active health management and not just toss food in and miracle cures happen. They will take damage and take time to heal so everyone running around with Timos or Snow Hunters will not be impossible to fight anymore.

Win for everyone!
(Except the grievers)

“Why shouldn’t groups be rewarded” implies they somehow aren’t rewarded already. Their reward is a numbers advantage and the capacity to use teamwork and have each member specialize to provide a wider range of benefits to the group.

But what’s the reward for the solo player that runs into an adversary better equipped, more numerous or simply bigger and stronger than himself? What’s his reward if he decides not to be a coward and chooses to fight?

Are you going to be impressed when someone tells you a story about how he and his two friends surrounded one guy, beat him dead and took his stuff? Or are you going to be impressed if the underdog turns around and manages to fight his way out? You might be equally impressed if he talks or sneaks/deceives his way out of it, but regardless of how he overcomes the situation, it’s the underdog who garners attention, not the group.

Also, I really hate how you’re painting with broad strokes and claiming that the people complaining are the socially inferior and morally bankrupt group, unable to make friends, act civil or understand basic human decency. That’s really uncalled for.

There will be trolls and griefers, in every corner of the internet, but that doesn’t mean all people complaining are like that; they have legitimate complaints about how the combat gameplay has changed, and what’s making their complaining worse is not necessarily inherent immaturity, but the fact that the others don’t understand where they are coming from and are immediately assuming the worst of them.

The complaint I see is based on a silly playstyle of “oh my swing is slow so I put away then reequip” which makes no sense that it would save time and avoid an “animation” that is there to make weapons have pluses and minuses. Now that the silliness is gone, Funcom can work on your pvp “balance” gack which will undoubtedly spill over into everyone else’s playstyle.

What game were you playing? Good stamina management and strategy has always been relevant, and NPC’s are still a joke. The only NPC’s worth being used as a benchmark for how combat is effected are the bosses, because they test the literal limits of your skills as well as the limits of the game mechanics available to you. The rest, not such a big deal. NPC camps are only a challenge if I’m trying to not kill a named thrall among the group of mobs.

What’s missing now, or I should say what’s been heavily damaged in the gameplay, is the element of MOBILITY. Stamina management, strategy, etc, all that stuff is still around, all those skills still apply and always have applied. But many skills developed to leverage mobility have been rendered useless, and this is what people are crying about.

The only mobility option left now is to sprint attack constantly, which works if you get a feel for the ranging, but its kind of silly and is still falling into the problem of all your choices being at the extremes instead of compromising somewhere in the middle.

This update can only be meant as a joke.
The restriction of only beeing able to use elevators and map rooms from your own clan really limits the overall possibilities of team play since every single clan has to build their own map room at every obelisk.
I don’t think it was needed at all to add a new animation for drinking a potion. Furthermore changing the really liked combat system into the quite bad one we got now maybe was not the smartest decision.
The climbing animation looks like you are out of the movie “The Ring”.
All those changes and especially the combat and healing mechanics will spell doom for the game.
Please keep it like it is and don’t destroy it.

The best pvp game i’ve played with combat similar to this is dark souls and has none of those things…

There are a lot of complaints about “the gods messing with the little humans” in a game about getting screwed over by a higher power, and having to survive it.

Yes, it is, but this guys complaining could use a bit of constructive criticism in order to suggest how to make the combat better, not trying to go back to the abuse of an exploit. for example:

  • Combat feels slow? what about change some attack speed or damage values
  • Can we get an special attack after we roll?
  • What about parrying or timed blocking? That would be cool to have
  • Shield breaking should be more common and play a more active role in combat.
  • Wouldn’t you like to have backstabs?
  • Are the weapon combos really fun?

There are tons of ways for making the combat more fluid and fun, but free of exploits.

Be constructive.
