The current changes to the vaults are temporary. They were not supposed to be used as defense. They will however be properly balanced as part of a bigger rework for the siege system.
@Tascha so is this Vault change going to be coming to Live servers as is? or will it be changed before it hits Live?
I ask, because your comment was very vague. You mention Siege system updates, but dont mention if it will be this patch or another.
Sorry, but there is a history of dropping changes on some things that are planned larger changes in the future. But the current changes, completely change the game. I realize that I used the word change there too many times… but there is some merit to … i think…(tongue twister)
I personally would love the vault to stay with high hp. Increase its storage about 10 percent but increase its cost. 500 hardened brick instead of of 150. Maybe even a 1000.
But also I’d love a smaller vault. Something that looks more like the star metal freezer. It might be more like the current vsultbin cost and the lower hp of the one on test live and it would hold somewhere between large chest and current vault inventory.
The revamp of the siege system is in the near future. So temp updates to hp and decay might stay until then. Granted, it’s possible the HP and decay might be adjusted again.
I sincerly hope you will not go live with vaults hp reduced to 200k… Vaults are supposed to be hard to destroy… problem was that people are now doing infinite vaults, a good solution of gameplay is not to reduce hp vaults point (because even if you reduce vault to 200k hp, people will still deploy 30 vaults around their base) and that is a gameplay killer !!! A good and simple solution is to limit the number of Vault by player !!! 2 vaults for a solo player max, 4 for a clan and problem is solved and the gameplay is not damaged… just my two cents.
As a soloplayer i know how to procuce between 120 to 180 explosives per day so enough to destroy 1 or 2 vaults of 600k hp per day. if vault are nerfed to 150k; it means that i can destroy between 4 to 8 vaults per day… as a solo player… are you sure we are going in the right way ? thx for your reading.

The Siege system is in the near future, but the temp updates to HP and Decay might stay until then.
This in itself is a Game Changing/Breaking update.
The last post said as a solo he is producing 120 to 180 Dragonpowder a day. I run a Clan we can do 500+ a day easily. This will give absolute power to the clan that chooses to take it. Which i’m sure many will. Popping 20 vaults a day for a large clan will be easyyy. Creating a power vacuum, and dominating a server.
This will create other problems for the time being, until the Siege System is implemented. You will lose player base, you will lose the casual player.
To do this correctly… simply leave the vaults alone until you have the “siege system” in place. Changing the Vaults to 150k to 200k HP, and not nerfing Bomb damage against Vaults is not a good idea. 30 Bombs to pop a vault… compared to the 110 now is a game changer. Plain and simple.
In my opinion… Trebuchet damage should trump Bomb damage against structures and vaults. Bombs should useful against doors and chest. Gives the defender the opportunity to go out and fight… maybe destroy a Trebuchet.
The most fun I had in the game was Defending a raid. We push them back, repair the door, they come back and push with a flank from the side. Its fun… there are tactics involved.
Please let the powers that be know, there are things being missed here. 27-30 Explosives to pop a vault is ridiculously easy. You will deal with Dead servers and Overpowering clans. Maybe even solo players dominating servers.

Then the proper solution is to make the vaults smaller in size, same inventory space, same HP if the desired result is so they can’t be used for defense.
It’s an easy fix.
Problem would still be people plopping them down everywhere just to keep others from building there no matter what the size is keeping the same hps would still be a resource hog to destroy. I can see reducing size to at least fit in a base and would suggest making it ONLY be places on foundations/ceiling tiles that way it can eventually be decayed or destroyed making people rework their bases to protect the vault instead of using vaults to protect the bases as a few vids I have seen do.
Honestly? Vaults are cancer to PvP. I like the change. You can’t just have a vault full of your useful stuff and then have 5 others in your base full of leather and know rhat even if someone wipes your base its only 20% likely they even hit your main vault. Put a good stockpile of emergency rebuild gear in each and you’re 100% unbreakable.
Vaults for walls, vaults for sieges because you can plop six down right outside your enemies base and have an invincible wall to treb from behind.
Low HP is good. Someone bombs your stuff, bomb them right back. Hide chests instead of counting on indestructible vaults.
That or make vaults cost 10,000 Star Metal. Make them more expensive to make than the bombs cost to break them. Make them too expensive to build. Outside of like 1 or 2 max per guild. Give them 0 recovered materials when scrapped.
Vaults needed hit points reduced. I agree with this change. The only ones disagreeing are the people spamming vaults everywhere…
That’s a pretty baseless assumption. I’ve done plenty of raiding on my pvp server, and it’s so ridiculously easy to break into someone base and destroy them. 600k takes about 75-85 jars to destroy, bit more if it’s weirdly placed. It’s easy to farm, only thing that should have been fixed was that you cant repair them when they are taking damage for a certain amount of time, since someone could have runned naked to the vault and instantly repaired it to full health during the raid, also increase the cost to make one. Anyway nerfing it by 75% doesn’t make sense.
vaults were a plague, most admins on good servers limit the amount of vaults per person or clan to about 2. The nerf was way over due.
Changes are coming to siege. I remember them talking about explosives changing, look to the dev streams. If you play on a 2x or higher server and are complaining about anything… well I pity you.
There are so many vaults spammed underwater in the Jungle that I am surprised they don’t remove them all together. Vaults have been a menace since the costs to destroy them became not worth it, frankly I would remove the large vaults all together and release a smaller version with high material cost (we taking starmetal), then balance it according to the new siege system.
Many drops are being rebalanced and blood will happen. Also gone are the days of 50 full fish traps spammed at the waters edge without putting effort into it. There is too much crap being built in the world for stupid reasons. Funcom needs to clean this up and that includes thralls. Feed your thralls what they want or let them die, your choice.
I play only on official PvP and frankly I think the way things were/are it is way to easy to get stuff, they need to, you know, make this a survival game…
The best option for vaults, is maybe…they remain the same like they were, only their cost should be more expensive. 750 hardened bricks, 800 steel reinf, 200-250 steel. Vaults are worth of getting but it should also be good and worth for getting incase saving most important loot.

I am fine with vaults not having much HP and but with less HP I would expect the size to reflect that.
Vaults, as cheap as they may be, are rediculous in size but it somehow reflects the HP somewhat.
I still can’t figure out why they haven’t wiped officials. Some of the best fun is in the first 24 hrs real survival. They have released and are even going to do more different mechanics since officials started (before Release even) that I can’t help but think that most of the issues are from no wipe. Every PC owner knows there is nothing like a good wipe to speed up their rig. I say release the next patch and wipe them.
