If you think “massively” means more than 16 … yeah, okay. Keep in mind the term was originally used with games like EverQuest, and later World of Warcraft. Thousands of players online, playing together on a single server (cluster).
Oooh ok, well now Iggy’s reply makes a little more sense. Thanks!
It’s definition is a game in which a large number of players can simultaneously interact in a persistent world.
Four to Eight players was the typical amount of players for a MP game. That later got bumped up to a max of around 16. Anything above 16 was considered a large number of players, especially when you get to more than double that. Plus, CE also fills the other criteria of having a persistent world, unlike a CoD style game where the “world” resets after every match.
Alrighty then. We’ll have to agree to disagree on that one. It may meet some dictionary definition of an MMO somewhere, but in practical terms, when you talk about MMOs, people think EQ, WoW, DAoC, etc. and not multiplayer survival games like CE and Ark.
Some people maybe, but clearly you don’t speak for everyone. I lot of us think of anything over 16 as qualifying, and like you said, it meets the definition of the term.
Given that Funcom has stated themselves they don’t believe CE is an MMO … I’ll just defer to their opinion on the subject.
If you are going to call an apple a banana, I would like to see your evidence.
I will continue to ask them to justify their reasoning.
FYI - The Arena is accessible without a key. When you get almost to the Arena door, there’s a little mound of dirt on the left. Go into that crack, crouch, and walk right in. It actually bypasses the Champion also, and takes you right into the long hallway to the Boss room. I found this today while exploring.
I wish that had been true in the MMOs I used to play. In Runescape I remember many times of mad dashing from the respawn point (there used to be only one) back to my corpse to pick up my stuff, because you only kept the three most valuable items you had upon death. I think you still keep only three items, but at least there are more respawn points and more accessible fast-travel options now.
I’m sure there are many differences between MMOs and online survival games, but this isn’t the distinction I’d buy.
It seems we’re splitting hairs here over the small clarification we posted above. It was in response to some comments here that seemed to liken Conan Exiles to an MMO. It is a comparison we’ve seen very often and we have to clarify as often that Conan Exiles is not an MMO, nor it has the set of tools and services usually associated with that kind of game.
It had nothing to do with the original post of this thread, which we answered previously as well, but it seemed to fly over everybody’s head.
We hope, this time, we made ourselves clear.
That poster clearly never played EverQuest.
MMORPG = Massive Men Online Role Playing Girls
no, its normal to have some difficulty, it’s what make the game still interesting, and allow us to learn and become better.
I have been over there, looted lot of weapons with the fourth first boss, then entered in the arena and have been killed, as she is hitting so hard, and i have been surprised.
then lost all because of decay andI was not prepared with a gear to retake all three key to access to arena. and so i learned, and on second attempt, when i was killed again by the champion of arena, i had a gear ready, and i went back, and i have been able to recover my body and i killed her, and i discovered in doing something that will always allow me to get back my body quickly if i m killed in arena;
I think that funcom did very well with this dungeon. and more generally with all they added with new patch that is bringing lot of diversity.
I was just being ironic sorry, I’ve played MMORPGs and I don’t care. I saw the comment hours earlier and was going to poke fun but did not until @Larathiel made it to where I could no longer resist apologies
ADDED: And the 27 (sarcastic slightly) posts before this is the reason I both started to flag his comment as trolling, AND refrained from posting after that funny thought.
Oh sure, blame it on the guy who had to take out a loan to buy a clue.
Truly it was my black heart
To be fair, his original reply was ‘sorry, hope it all works out’, I feel like that plus the MMO post was just asking everyone to be sarcastic
Oh he hung that bait out there well
Then…
Warmaker Sancuary! (Can’t flag me for off topic at least)
Warmaker is brutal last two bosses be ready strategies dude or else. What HATE about it. is not Solo on last boss that easy. that fall under my scale of Lame kudos lol. anyhoot shall be done eventually. You tell i am coming & bringing hell with me.
I finished this last night on an official server. It’s very doable solo with a volcano fighter and flawless epic / non-legendary gear, but you have to make sure your thrall handles the tanking. Whether that means using a lower-damage weapon (spear works perfectly now that it’s been nerfed), or pausing attack and letting the boss hit you before you roll/run away so your thrall can regain threat, all of the fights are easily doable with some healing arrows for your thrall. I used light armor, because I found the roll far more valuable than extra AC, but I’m sure heavy armor works just fine too.
