What is your favorite game mechanic in Conan Exiles?

Im a purely Offline Singleplayer. I have summoned a god once to crush a World Boss and complete the Journey Step. I have never used a bubble before, no need. I honestly didnt realise they were gone too. An oversight on my part…whoopdeedo.

Then play on a dedicated private server with a good moderator, or go singleplayer. You have options.

Look SquashEm did you come here to discuss your favourite mechanic, or to troll and whine. Because frankly I have better thing to do with my time than argue “the game sucks…does not, does too…” with you.

You may not be wrong…as they can be crafted (bubbles). Waiting on a reply from igansis if it is just cosmetic though. If so, that sucks, as i have been lighting 2 for the past 3 weeks lol.

The funny thing about this poll - it’s genuinely difficult to choose favourites. If there’s one thing Conan Exiles does really well, it’s the overall set of features. It has the best building system in any survival game I’ve played by a long shot, an almost perfect implementation of climbing (therefore exploration), it’s a beautifully diverse setting (if underutilised in some areas), the combat is pretty damned good (ignoring balance), the thrall system is mostly good (would prefer more commandable thralls and better base defence options) and the Purge when it works properly can be really nasty.

But man - once you’ve raided a few times and have everything you need, there’s no reason to keep playing the game. When you’ve got a base full of loot/weapons/dragonpowder/high end resources/armour etc - beyond raiding any new clans trying to establish, on the pvp servers there’s very little reason to keep playing.

I would kill for some mechanic that really inspires longevity. Not just revamping an area and giving people reason to grind it, but an actual mechanic. Something that encourages players to fight each other around the map - like random events that are broadcast (like raidable supply trains or rare creatures to be hunted or sudden purge like plagues of creatures in certain areas adn the like).

Also - how awesome were those early sandstorms? they looked amazing and were dangerous if you were caught out in them. Suddenly nullified as soon as you got a sandstorm mask. These masks are great, but man you countered a seriously cool game mechanic there. I’d like to see other weather events either natural or unnatural which affect the world in such a way that you do need to take emergency actions - like make it to cover, or make it to water, or have to jump off a cliff to avoid it or what not.

The game has so much under-utilised potential

God bubbles should still stop projectiles shot from outside. Their big utility, which is to stop avatar attacks, is non-functional at the moment just because avatars are disabled.
Again, all of this in official servers. Private servers are not affected by this.
Also please, people, do keep the thread on track

I voted for survival. I am kinda new to the game, so I am starting to explore and build…so, survival and learning combat is the biggest challenge for me now. But I like the game as a whole. Building and crafting is great, exploration is fun…

Hi Wolfsangel and welcome to our community! Conan Exiles does have a steep learning curb as I discovered myself in the past. If at any point you have questions or need some advice, just start a thread and ask, youll have no shortage on help around here. Remember, the only silly question is the one you dont ask.

Thanks.
No worries, I will ask if needed. I plan to stick with this game for a long time. Too much freedom and open world exploring, planning and building  I was waiting for game like this long time

Which it does
On my private server you get to keep your stuff on dying, so this way of teleporting is known as ‘dying home’ to my players

That’s actually the method I use to transport all my thralls when I decommission a base. Set down a maproom, put my bedroll on it, teleport a thrall to their new home, and then keeping braceleting back until they’re all moved.

This, could have saved me so much time.

Personally I like exploring to find interesting places to build. Not a huge fan of PVP as it is in its current state so PVE is fun. Especially more fun in groups of people.

I’m not overly interested in the new dungeons. So I have not played them as the rewards don’t offer me anything that improves my survival in the game. My quality of life wont improve by going to these dungeons. Or caves etc.

But I do like combat against PVE. Its generally enjoyable.

I have a bedroll at the spot where Grr Legbiter spawns often. But the place is kinda remote and far from Obelisks.

Have traveled there with my T4 bearer. Set up a wheel and some other stuff and put a spare gear in a chest…

Suicide - teleport

I also have used the “Thrall follow” and then place and move feature to move 2 at a time if the distances are not to long. But in bad situations I can drop the thrall and have two people fight for me. Not just 1. Its handy in some cases.

In single player I did this with an army of thralls and placed them close to Sep. Flushed everyone out and they truncheoned them all.

I had 9 wheels set up. Next morning I had a city of thralls and then moved them all back the same way.

And really warmakers gives decent weapon variations. 1 hour runnin through the first 4 “bosses” usually yields bows, hammers, swords, etc.

I agree on that. But I just googled where the traps were and then did that portion. Those were valuable. Agreed. But since then nothing else has really been a requirement. But yes. The fish traps are a bonus.

While these things are good. And I imagine they have their place I have not found things comparable to the unnamed city and its recipes. Sure there are certain weapon types that maybe strong. But for archers Red Mother and or Eye of Khan / Huntress still beats out in damage or to get 5 extra accuracy for headshots.

I’m not anti dungeon. I just look at the rewards, time and risk. So far the rewards don’t weigh in as valuable enough for me to validate the time or risk.

The exception would be the scorpion dungeon because I do like the venom.

And as Zerog mentioned I like the fish traps.

Huh, don’t think I’ve ever tried using it. I hit that dungeon all the time though because it’s great for mining iron, stone, coal, and silver. Also, the shield from the last boss is badass!

It’s great stuff. I use it to basically kill anything. I like posioning a hammer, axe, sickle or any tool.

If someone runs in the water I chase em. Then hit them with it and it does more damage than reaper poison. I suggest the sickle for quicker animation swings. Unless you have a javelin of course.

I had somone run into the water and stay there with a Riptide until I poisoned them to death.

if oyu are near a river just drink water straight form it and cook your meat or get a fishing net = no more dieing of thirst or hunger
if you are not near a river; build a well and beehives

The two options that I did not select that I would have loved to were PvP combat and the Purge.

The reason I dod not select PvP is because I play on a private server with friends and family and we are all the same clan. If I had more time to devote to the game I would love to play on a full out PvP role play server.

The reason I did not select the Purge is a bit different. I want to live the Purge. I really do. I just need it to work better. It needs to be more dangerous.

Commonly the Purge flakes out and gets stuck. Or it will just be a short purge of only a couple of waves. Number of attackers is usually low and easily defeated when it does work. Oh, and the rarity of human based purges… we rarely see them.

As serveradministrator I have taken to enhancing the Purge by adding in additional foes. During a recent ape purge, for example, I used Pippi to add in a giant ape toward the end. We all had a blast defending my base from King Kong.

Really, I just want them to be a bit more robust. If they could provide a bit more (a lot more) of a challenge then purges would be among my favorite part of the game.
