What's the latest in Conan Exiles?

This part directly concerns Conan Exiles. In my opinion, this game was simply not designed for PVP, and it was added later and simply does not fit in technically.
In fact, in my opinion, the entire game is designed as a single-player, max co-op game where multiplayer has been added as an afterthought and is unfinished (for example, it is still not possible for two players to trade, which Diablo managed to do 25 years ago).
This is not about the PVP element as such. On the contrary, since the days of Age of Conan, Funcom has allowed players to choose between PVP and PVE servers (which is ideal, compared to games like Dune and others where everything is mixed together and even pure PVE players are forced into PVP). The problem is technical, in that it simply doesn’t work as it should… and the current anarchy and epidemic of cheats is one of the consequences.

Weeeeeell, Conan Exiles may have been thought as a PvP game at heart. In many aspects, it realizes what many of the early design goals for Age of Conan seem to have been, among them building and sieging player bases.

The game then got a lot of PvE theme park content, too, and in my view the latter part is better and more fleshed out. A pure PvP game has to be balanced. In chess, one side doesn’t get easier access to resources for building pawns, while the other starts out with more horses - that’s impossible to balance. As soon as you throw dungeons, a diverse map and so on a map, it’s not a good PvP game anymore. The original Isle of Siptah took that into account and gave a fair, but pretty bland map. If Conan Exiles PvP would be all that popular, that map should have worked great.

What I want to say: Conan Exiles may actually have started out as a PvP concept, but turned into a PvE game with PvP elements - funnily, just as Age of Conan did before.

I disagree. Your premise is right…..balance. FC couldn’t figure that word out as they had nerf meta items to the point of making a new meta only to rinse and repeat every cycle.

Funcom could give every item a value of 1 with zero bonus to them and STILL not be able to balance them.

a

i want my money back! I love CE but can’t even move around my base without the damn thing crashing every time.

so many Bazaar items for nothing. all they do is clutter the memory and make the game unplayable.

For the love of CROM, test thoroughly before making it public. Past updates were not given the time needed. I think when it drops the deer will fly again :wing:

Sounds like someone over built. :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

I know a fix

giphy
You’re not going to like it.

? deleting the base ? lol. whats the point of all the Bazaar items.
not the one to do it, but companies should be sued when they offer you stuff that they haven’t tried out themselves to be working properly.

i play CE on console and even the Series X has a hard time in some places where there aren’t even any buildings.

while the desert areas run smoothly because there is nothing but sand , the forest areas are the opposite. the trees and vegetation and the animations for them cause horrible FR drops and sttuter with no buildings whatsoever.

imposible to miss on console.

but seriously… I want my money back.

Wait you are on a console?

Think maybe the issue may be the console.

None the less just because they sell a lot of content doesn’t mean you need to use it all.

yep on console. I don’t use everything at all. not even close . as a matter of fact Im trying to avoid it because I see how bad it is. it gets slow and keeps crashing.
this problem has to do with the actual performance of the game as it relates to the world objects rendering, animations and memory use. just go to the silk wood or reaper swamp or any of the East jungles and no buildings. the graphics struggle.

again im on console so…

Is this multiplayer or single?

single. no one else. stopped playing online about 3 years ago.

I’m on console series x.

but seriously… I want my money back.

maybe start a petition or something and others can sign it as well.

Ah. Then that may actually be part of the problem. A fairly well known issue with the game (which I’m pretty sure is why @Kikigirl was asking) is that console performance is worst in singleplayer. This is because the console is having to act as the server and client at the same time, which they generally don’t have the power for. Unfortunately, I’m not sure there is a solution other than finding a friendly server. Maybe someone else has some ideas, but I suspect you may be stuck. Sorry.

idk.
to my hearts dismay ive demolished half my base and still performance sucks. I apologize to the citizens of New Eternia for having their paved streets removed, their taverns closed, the public restroom demolished the banquet hall empty and their baths shut down.
it’s a hard life on the exiled lands and trying to give the citizens a better way of life just not good for the game.

By the power of Funcom!!!

now I really want my money back. :joy: but seriously

I know for a fact the trees and vegetation is the problem. If somehow the animations could be turned off or they be static or something it would help.

I know this for a fact because I have way larger bases in the desert with almost 0 problems or Fr drops or stutter. none. no crashing.

on the other hand I have a fraction of any of these bases near the Oasis to the west and to the forest to the East and it’s just a fast slide show. I love how the trees and palm trees sway but it’s too much for console when you have hundreds of them at the same time around your own base which also has its own animations and renderings to deal with.

why can I see trees move from more than 400m away and as far as the eye can see? it’s uncesarry and it’s a big burden to the graphics processor, which then affects gameplay.

if they could just add an option to disable tree/vegetation animation or improve on this somehow.

@Lucidique might better be able to guide you through this but have you run through most of the suggested Xbox performance troubleshooting tips?

yep. I played the game enough and dealt with the settings enough to know what problems affect Xbox performance.

they need to add a vegetation animation check box, so you can turn this on or off. just like living settlement or any of the other options.

this has nothing to do with whims, cosmetics, or wishlists… is purely game performance and should be addressed as such.

Clear the cache on your Series X. If you’re playing single player, don’t put absolutely everything in the one location. Place a large carpet as a guide, if it has issues rendering, you have too much placeable crap in the area. If you insist on having everything, spread your bases out so they’re one per zone and under 5k build pieces.
