What happens when a base crosses multiple biomes? For example, I’ve got a base right along the cliff between the Highlands and desert. How would the program know what texture to use?
Like I said before, by whatever mechanism the game already uses to determine what biome’s music is supposed to be playing.
Yes, indeed
I prefer no colouring at all, only because of this
Isle of Telith was a good compromise with water, grass and maybe a lil desertic view… sadly it’s always raining ^^
Anything near water is pretty much win…
Highlands is good mix of both. My most lived area.
River and Desert are also fairly high up, THOU someone added those stupid spiting iguanas all over place and ruined 70% of good home spots on river/desert… good job -_- (no not really)
Jungle has several good spots… travel thru area can be weird.
Tundra would be pretty awesome, several great looking spots in Westish/Northwest… to bad spawns are like 10+ thing in a zone. And I have land claim to .33 (so tree dont despawn)
(were are my tree place-ables. T_T
So everything is basically killing my stuff…
Volcano was great when they were friendly… Now. meh.
All the biomes are looking great. I admire the graphic art of this game for 2000 hours now. Desert and jungle are wonderful, the volcano is wonderful creepy and the ice is really cold. Also i love to hate the twilight around the mounds. Maybe the area around New asagard is a bit boring, but that´s because it reminds me of the alpes and i would like more dramatic rocks
My two biggest issues are for one it rains inside buildings, so i can´t build my own microclimate. This also somehow applies to the volcano.
And second: After playing so long the map has become small. Also i am a single player and i only want to build at the perfect spot. Now there is only one perfect spot for me at low level, considering resources, obelisks and so on.
So aside from “make the damn map bigger!” please consider bringing more iron and coal to the jungle (yes, i know how to make oil and to dry wood) and make the inside building atmosphere more cosy.
And make the damn map bigger! We want more fabulous landscapes from you!
I recall the first time I visited the Unnamed City I saw all of these black stone boulders laying everywhere and though to myself ‘Cool a new type of stone! Onyx maybe…!?’ Then upon harvesting it: Aaaawwww…
Voted jungle but because of things to do locally, my main base is just north of the unnamed city.
Voted desert because its so iconic of the game I have so many memories of various adventures in the desert be it as a newbie, at pvp stalking on the cracked rocks, on pve with a big clan building a big base.
I voted desert, because it never rains there. But i like the jungle too (with the mod “clear weather & no rain”)
I’m totally in love with the oasis and the desert, but as meat-me lives in a real desert I chose the Highlands. Safe, beautiful and rainy.
I like the desert because of the Nameless City.
Nevertheless, I like to travel in all.
It would be nice if in the future someday new ones come to it.
I know that it will not, but that would be really great because of the mounts that are in December.
Survive.Build.Dominate
I love to explore the highlands, unfortunately it rains constantly and it breaks my pleasure to play, so if could reduce the number of periods during which the rain falls, it would be fantastic!
(less rain)
But…but…its size is huge, it is differentiated by a different colour on the map, it has unique enemies and factions, an Obelisk, it is (was?) The capital centre/heartland of the Exiled Lands, it has a nice colourful map marker, it has unique Purges…
Er nevermind, I should know better than to argue with its creators as to what it is and isnt. [Faithful backs away slowly shuting the door on the way out…]
I have built an outpost inside the southern perimeter Palm, just south west of The Aviary. I have honestly not had one there yet, as the thought of it scares me a bit, haha. And it only has two guards and a Dancer at the moment. I have heard it has Dragon purges , the undead and Bats.
EDIT: according to the official Wiki’s Purge map, potentially Scorpions and a ‘leigon of Demons too’. Now Im intrigued…

Testament to how good the design of this game is, i find it impossible to choose a favourite.
Volcano and frozen North… North because of its light effects and the meteors.
Volcano just in general. Its never a 100% safe place. Even for endgame players. Also light effects are great (mostly around the forge).
The region around mounds of the dead is just depressing. But it fits just great there…
I wanted to say different things. But then when I looked at it I always build in the desert. Close enough to the Savana regions. Plenty of food. Plenty of other useful things.
While I, at the moment, live in the jungle, my usual spot is in the desert. My preferred spot, since before official launch, has been by the river near the Tower of Bats, basically the upper right corner of E5. Directly on top of water (Convenience), near iron (Resource and convenience, I’d say), near Tower of Bats (The view!) and overall in a desert’y oasis of sorts (Atmosphere ofc).
