Windows 7 - crashes on startup after Update 41 (16.06.2020) - Feedback thread

When illidan sais “clear the dir”, you mean we have to delete all in it ? Sory, i’am french and it’s dificult to understand precisely.

Yes, delete all in this folder. (or you can save it wherever you want).

And when he says " create SilentEvents.log-upload-0"

it is about creating a .txt or creating a folder ?

Folder

create a folder of this name

this trick/hack/“ratarded workaround” seems to work for servers too. Just tested it and everything seems to run smoothly again.
no disrespect - not what you did is ratarded but the fact that this helps -> the fact that Conan runs after this change is just ridiculous.
“Oh no, lets just do some stuff in the file system without any checks and error catch routines for funzies!!!oneoneeleven”

Thank you for your help !

What I am reading is that Windows 10 users are getting the same style crashes, but I am Windows 7 x64

When I start Exiles I get a message like these:

ConanSandbox.exe - Application Error

The instruction at 0x3f785086 referenced memory at 0x00000009. The memory could not be written.
Click on OK to terminate the program

OK

ConanSandbox.exe - Application Error

ConanSandbox.exe - Application Error

The instruction at 0x3f835086 referenced memory at 0x00000023. The memory could not be written.

OK

Memory leaks?

Sometimes I can bypass these errors and launch the game, but it crashes within 3 minutes.

Windows 7 Pro x64, 16GB RAM, 6 GB Nvidia graphics card, 77GB free HD space. Playing on an Official Server with few players. 58 ms latency.

I am probably just waiting for your hotfix. Maybe freeze the Decay Timers though.

…sorry for the bold print, that’s just what control+C copied.

And, “How”, do you remove BattleEye Service?

"1. Remove the BattleEye service and install what it offers at startup
2. Close game
3. Run Conan Exiles\ConanSandbox\Binaries\Win64\BattlEye\Uninstall_BattlEye.bat
4. Run Conan Exiles\ConanSandbox\Binaries\Win64\ConanSandbox_BE.exe
5. Press ok
5. Close game.
7. Clear dir Conan Exiles\ConanSandbox\Saved\Logs
8. Create dir “SilentEvents.log-upload-0” in folder logs
9. Run game on Steam "

…is pretty cryptic even to me. I have done some game scripting, but I find this lacking in the step-by-step process details. Your asking me to alter install logs for a bugged game that is going to be hot-fixed. Will I need to do a clean reinstall to get the official hotfix patch to work? For me a reinstall would take 4 days, I would arrive with all my alternate buildings decayed.

Turn off the Decay Timers please. And like I said before, many Windows 10 users are experiencing the same crash errors.

No problem, that’s it what we players must do, why funcom not can

But… those solutions do not work, as you noticed yourself it eventually crashed, tho beeing after an hour, it still did?

Windows 10 is so buggy though. It takes control of your computer. I put it on a different PC and it thinks it is a phone.

This is not so. It just isn’t and if your’e anything of the expert you seem to claim, you should know.

This has nothing to do with “Modern hardware”
CE runs great / perfect on (a bit) older hardware. Users with Win7 are not running Win7 on high end recent machines , they run it usually on older machines wich can cope perfectly with CE.

And “win 7 users had it coming” is non sense.

I play CE on several (7 and 10) systems for years now and , no worries.

It’s NOT JUST Win 7 - it’s also Win 10 - please be aware of that. Also, thanks to @lllidan, There IS a fix that works. I did this after trying 20 different things (that did not help) - but this one fixed it. @Ignasi, maybe you guys should hire lllidan to fix your stuff - seems he/she did a great job providing us with a workaround that actually worked.

Yes, they are when they’re used maliciously. You could call me fat, I could call you ignorant and arrogant, and both would be true, and both would be insults.

In case you’re not sure why I say that, “Windows 7 users had it coming” shows your ignorance and using it to attack people shows your arrogance.

Windows 7 works fine. No problems with any hardware or games or programs. Funcom released a poorly tested patch since these bugs are so omnipresent in the player base.

Now if you think windows 10 players are not experiencing the same crashes go read the Steam forums for Conan Exiles. Many Win 10 players getting the same memory errors and unable to log in. I think they should get patched also, don’t you?

Q.
Does the fix provided by @lllidan fix all issues?

Like can you go online to your current server (f.i an official) and play the game on where you left it?
(As that would be the general wish of Players i would expect?)

If not what’s the benefit in implementing the fix?

Not dissing @lllidan in any way, he’s the Boss inhere atm. Good work bro, thanks!

Its all bout attention ey :kissing_heart:

Sure. I’m ignorant because I made an informed choice to stay with Windows 7 despite EOL, for reasons that have to do with performance[1] and privacy[2].

Whereas you are knowledgeable because you claim that Windows 7 EOL[3] has something to do with a problem in third-party software, a third-party that officially supports Windows 7 as a platform for their software.

[1] My installation of Windows 7 was painstakingly trimmed down to get rid of all the bloatware. I don’t have the time or energy yet to go through the same process with Windows 10.

[2] Here’s just a small taste.

[3] Which simply means Microsoft stopped making and deploying updates for Windows 7. Each third party company (i.e. not Microsoft) can decide to keep supporting it or not.
