Do you actually know your fellow Exiles?

Haha heard that! I’d experienced players rage-quitting before, but never have I seen such angry desire to get back in and grab some scalps.

People hated it, but I understood that it was unfinished. Outside of base building, I had to map my run direction for mats to final destination a wall so I’d log back in alive. It was exilierating because I wanted to play the game bad… what an addiction, heh.

That would be a great thing, but I’m a pretty private person, especially online lol. Would love to see others though.

Hi peeps,

Gamer tag is Multigun, but I go by Multi for short. Have used said gamer tag since I was 12 years old because I loved making Multigun Corvette’s in the original Homeworld RTS game (not the remastered, the OG). Hence the profile picture.

Let’s see, a bit about me. I like dogs a lot, as many are probably already aware that I would do anything for my pets. I’ve been an avid gamer my whole life, but I got my passion for video games via my grandmother many years ago. My grandmother, Barbara, was amazing at Atari and Nintendo games. She kicked my rear end more times then I can count. She passed away in 2003 (**** cancer), but I think about her everytime I start up a game. I also became a gamer because, like so many others out there, I have physical challenges and pain because of diseases I can’t control. I don’t know where I would be if it weren’t for video games.

Future me hopes to be a game developer. I went to and graduated from college a few years ago and mostly self taught what I learned there about game development (what little that was). The college I went to now has way more game development friendly classes, but when I attended there was just a single 3D modelling class and a single 3D animation class, and they were both taught by an instructor who was 5 years behind the latest basic development trends. Stubborn me still turned every homework assignment I ever received into some sort of game development related material. Post graduation, general life challenges caused me to stray from my goal of reaching my dream job, but Conan Exiles has revitalized those hopes and dreams.

I’ve been modding and bug fixing/testing in Conan Exiles for just over a year now and have put in north of 2,000 hours of doing so (I really wish I could have done more in that time, but such is life and the day job.) As to which area of focus in game development I would like to work in, I can’t say for sure. A lot of things interest me (which is what makes modding so much fun). I think, if I had to choose, I would best fit into the mold of a jack of all trades Content Designer, as I believe it fits my skills and interests best. Though I do find that anything I set out to learn, I’m able to, so who knows what the future holds in that regard.

Big shout out to all the Funcom Conan Exiles team for making the game and choosing to have a UE4 dev kit available. It’s been a lot of fun and I hope for another exciting year of modding and another 2,000 hours.

I always enjoy learning people’s game handle and origins. I inherited mine during the Fire Academy, our instructor was very vulgar and motivating. He also, at the time of him being a fit 30yr old, set time records for the academy on drills. I was able to “annihilate” 4 of his 9 rescue records, and he proceeded to call me “fkn nihilator”, usually followed by… “thinks he’s hot sht, wants a shot at the champ!”

So, that stuck throughout my peers and later I just owned it.

But multigun… I wanted to name my son “Gunner”, but the wifey… shot it down.

Also, love dogs, can I post a pic of my german sheperd, or is that too de-railing of the thread?

Well, perhaps some moderator can reopen this thread?

My forum name is because I loved Sailor Moon as a kid, especially Sailor Saturn, Hotaru Tomoe. As well as the Battle Angel manga. 99 is Alita’s Motorball number.

On Xbox I go by Satsuki Hime. “Satsuki” is the old Japanese calendar word for the month of May. Soo it’s a sneaky way of calling myself “Princess May” lol.

Re-opened

There you go @Nihilatr

Ok… here goes… my irl pet got stuck in my water well.

Nice!

Ahem @Nihilatr, that should have gone to the re-opened thread for which I provided the link

Here it is again:

Only 3 anime I’ve ever seen. Battle angel, cowboy bebop, and samurai Champloo.

Huge battle angel fan, 2nd to Conan, even have the last order series comics, and the old ps1 battle angel game from japan.

The live action Movie was decent enough to sit through and carb up on.

But same, my Xbox handle is still Nihilatr. Also, who mentioned a community discord?

Sht. Strike one. :skull_and_crossbones:This is what happens when you live in the lawless lands of reddit and not a civilized forum.

Good point on name origins. Weylund was a nutcase AD&D dwarf I ran in the 80s & 90s. While the name was inspired by Wayland the Smith, his personality was firmly Vyvyan from The Young Ones with a touch of Warhammer troll slayer.
We had so much fun that my friends stuck me with the handle.

Hello, My real name is Thomas. Not Tom. Never was a Tommy (except for my step daughter and late grand mother). I am a 45 years old, and have 2 grand sons, a 7 year old and a 10 month old. From Austin, Texas. 6’4" 235 gentle giant, who has a superman complex. I have been an avid gamer for 30+ years. Mainly to be able to hang with my younger brothers, who to this day we will get together for a mountain dew/taco bell game night of co-op gaming. I am a self taught database programmer/analyst. I play board games, which i just recently got into for some reason. mainly Euro style worker placement games. love strategy. love numbers. Was an all state Basketball player in high school. Hate Meta builds. Quit Madden 10+ years ago, because it stop feeling like football with all the money plays. Love me some Star Wars and a huge Superman guy (guess that is where i get my Superman complex from  ). I like Zach Snyder Moives (visual story is sometimes better than words). Usually hate online PVP, but Conan has me opening up to it more. Dabble in drawing. Love to revers engineer old games. Actually do it in Hex LoL. My brother and I have done a home brew of Tecmo III (It is an NFL American football game from 1993 that is one of our favorites of all time.). We actually got a review online of a conversion we did to make it a college game…

Currently we are into modding that same game into an updated 32 team (original only had 30 teams) version. We have added dynamic AI, and have added the teams, players and ratings, but Conan has pulled me away from play design lol.
So i understand a lot of what the devs and programmers go thru, and can only imagine how much more work there is on a PS4 game. So i always try to see it from the other side. And understand balance to “realism” and fun.

I like Weyland Bishop from the Alien series. And though it’s not DnD, I do have the spartacus board game where you fight your gladiators with dice.

What’s a superman complex? And yes to Zach synder projects, also I enjoyed the Austin scene when I lived in Texas.

Yeah he’s a righteous android, and Lance Henriksen is a legend. I do give David 8 the win, though, with Mr Fassbender in Prometheus hitting all the xenophobic checkboxes.

That just made me look up Dwayne Hicks. Did I ever tell anybody about when I got to Denver I was picked up by a talent agency that took me out to a real movie set near now-defunct Stapleton airport? I was an extra at first, then a stand-in for Michael Biehn. Now that. was an honor.

That really suits you. And I don’t know many men who can pull off “Thomas not Tom” these days.

Also, happy anniversary @Multigun!

My 67’ is for Pontiac GTO I wish I’d own one day. XD (thou most assume its a play on 69, also good)
