Event Log Player names: yay or nay?

Nothing, it’s cool. The problem I have with the log is the warfare intelligence that is provided in an all-knowing crystal ball like way. knowing whom you need to seek out is also a resource that should be earned and not given as a default.

This!

I wonder on the event log revamp why they thought showing the player name would help with the disappearing itens or walls, it literally takes out the survival feeling, I see the same on ppl complaining about the game being too vague on some itens and crafting, like a lack of “tutorial”, most of the players seems to not click on the information button of the itens, every description gives you the hints to know and understand about it.

I agree the crafting panel could be less polluted visually, it can take long seconds to find the thing youre looking.

And names on the log? If that have a place to exist on that era, it should be only via a Thrall scout, only 1 in a very very large area (can’t put another scout nearby) he would fight when in combat, but it would makes more sense if he could run to save his life and retain the names on the event log, because if he gets killed, names will be hidden. That seems very reasonable to me.

Main thing here is I would prefer a way to actually be able to defend the base, rather than just simply retaliate against those who raid you, and NOT through the way of defender or pet thralls. You still lose your things if names aren’t anonymous, but you’re only able to ATTEMPT AT getting them back. This isn’t an issue in of itself except it makes alpha clans stronger than they should be.

You also claim you’re solo, but how would knowing that a 5 person clan hit you be beneficial in any way, since how can you hope to fight a 5 person clan by yourself? If they raided just to raid, then you lose some things but can rebuild and they’ll move on to the next person. If you somehow get revenge, then they’ll gain some animosity and will go with the intention of wiping you off the server.

No names means you will still get hit and you may not be able to find out that it was a 5 person clan, but again, how does knowing benefit you? It benefits them FAR more than it could ever benefit you, but having anonymous raiding benefits you far more than them, as long as you’re willing to raid.

Another thing, why should the game accommodate to your situation? If you can’t be online for 6 hours during raid time, that’s your business, not ours. I work 4 out of 7 days during raid hours, so I can only defend or raid on the weekends, but that’s my problem.

I would MUCH prefer a thrall that brings the event log to your face when something gets attacked, that way you don’t need to check the event log every 2 mins and can have a chance at defending what you own. I was on just the other day and had no idea my wheel was being destroyed until I checked the log an hour later. I don’t care that I don’t know who did it, as I care little for revenge since I prefer to prevent my stuff from being taken rather than just hitting someone back. With the thrall, you not only get to defend your things, but also get to find out who’s doing the attack.

Wasn’t there already a poll done by funcom for a look at everyone’s thoughts on the event log anyway?

So, this vote is up from 1 month and we don’t even had a upload about that ? When we will be able to choose if Players Name are gonna be visible or not ?

I don’t think we’ll be able to choose, from what it looks like Funcom is going to either go back to how the event log was originally, seeing everyone’s names, or remove it completely.

I get what you’re saying, but since you’re going to get raided anyways, you’ll still lose your things since you don’t have the time to defend constantly. Showing names just means you now have a target. That’s it. You still got raided. Now having a name and a target isn’t a bad thing, but it’s when you look at how player interactions turn out that it becomes a problem.

Naming and shaming and alpha clan policing are two huge problems when it comes to name showing. With anonymous raids, it is true that people are much bolder in attacking everything they see, but it’s not like they’ll never get caught.

There might be rare times when a single person can take out an entire clan, but it’s generally not happening for obvious reasons. The more people you have, the faster the resource gain and that’s the most important part of Conan. More people = bigger bases, more thralls, more bombs, more gods, etc… generally speaking.

You shouldn’t have to sit around waiting to be attacked to know who’s doing it and where, which is why I suggested a thrall that notifies you when you get attacked. You then get to actually defend what you own while simultaneously finding out who’s doing the attacking. This in turn could introduce an app to notify people who are offline when something gets attacked.

Congrats ppl, you guys gave a big step out of survival and balance for the game, lets make it more hard and boring for small clans and solo players right?

Lets see the difference on the charts now.
