Lmao hahahahaha are yall serious right now lmao. Well hell let’s all do that. Man I am stressed out all the time lets just take 3 weeks off. Hell let’s shut down the whole country in August. Lmao. Dude vacation is vacation I understand. But you just released something to the WORLD. You think just maybe, just a little bit, that I dont know they should have planned this all out ahead of time. Like managed their company? Lmao
Lol. Hyperbole? The patch delay it’s only the last symptom of an entire policy of greed and a toxic mixing of incompetence and lazyness. Of course all companies wants to survive, and Funcom does it very well, releasing incomplete games and cheating their playerbase with false announcements of imaginary routes, pipelines, designs and crap like that. I hope someday market pays it back.
Let’s not get carried away. Nobody’s suggesting that the entire country shut down its critical infrastructure for a month. It’s a game developer making a choice to give it’s employees a well deserved break.
Perspective Is a wonderful thing.
Little off topic / on the joke side, but this post really, literally, stole our heart.
https://forums.funcom.com/t/patch-plans-week-2nd-of-july/22635
The announcement has 17 likes (hearts) because it said 500 fixes patch was coming this week. (sometime).
Then they EDITED it, saying nothing until August…leaving same post as the most liked announcement ever posted by Funcom haha tried to remove my heart (like) but cant. Its a stupifun thing, but it makes me laugh that the post that will kill most of this game playerbase has so many non legit likes haha omg, that’s not the best practice as Community Manager…
Well deserved can be considered a stretch, a perspective coming from a Ps4 player here, among many, who cant even play the game since they patched it last, a person who paid money only a week before their last patch and hasn’t been able to really use the product he paid for since.
The game was fun…When it worked. Even though it was buggy as hell, it was enjoyable, but the last patch fiasco has royally screwed many Ps4 players, and its looking like many of us wont be playing the game for a month, or longer yet. I definitely have not seen my moneys worth in this game yet. I really hope this break does them good.
A broken game isn’t the end of the world, I have plenty to do besides game all day, but as a gamer, I have never played anything with an post-beta “official” release that was so flawed and, in its current state, unplayable (unless you enjoy losing all your progress and starting from scratch damn near every day). Also to have heard next to nothing from Devs except that they have fixed some unsubstantial bugs (that definitely could have waited) and than finding out that they will be taking a month off almost immediately afterwards. It really feels like a kick in the nuts.
To hell with the 500 bug patch, fix what you broke, Roll back the patch, do what you gotta do to make the game actually playable and enjoyable again, the very thing people are still buying as we speak!
And that is the very worst thing, that the Ps4 version of this game is still for sale, no warning label whatsoever. Take it off the shelf until its ready gang.
I’m a PC player, so I haven’t experienced any console specific issues, but if it’s as bad as you say then I can appreciate that would be pretty frustrating.
Hopefully the more serious issues such as this will get addressed when normal service is resumed. I would definitely agree that major issues affecting an entire platform should definitely take priority over lesser bug fixes or exploits.
Unbelievable …
Yeah it is as bad as we are trying to convey to Funcom but they are acting like they dont care so you know. As far as shutting down the whole country I was being sarcastic. But really, all jokes aside, it wont just affect PS4 players. When revenue dries up they are going to legitimately try and force more DLC on you for even more money. You can all but say the PS4 side is done. And from my understanding the XBox is dealing with the same stuff. So when they come back to work and really get working that will be august or so. Then have to test patches and everything. So say September at the earliest it is fixed. Do you really believe with the amount of game releases at the end of the year they hang on. Then what becomes of what is left of Conan Exiles. They just leave it alone like they have done other games and basically abandon it. No more bug fixes, exploit fixes. Nothing. Nada. Which will affect everyone.
You may be right, it could turn out to be a terrible decision in terms of the games future, or it might not.
To be clear, I’m not a Funcom fanboy. I don’t know much about their history and the only other one of their games that I played was The Secret World. What annoys me though is the supposition that these sorts of decisions are made lightly, or made with the intention of annoying or disrespecting the players.
While it’s true that there’s often a disconnect between the developers working hard on the game and the company directors just watching the dollar signs, i’s true to say that both sides want the game to be as popular as possible and keep it’s player base happy so that they’re more likely to continue supporting it through DLC etc.
It’s a common thread on game forums where people spout nonsensical theories about how publishers and developers hate the players, whilst languishing in their bubble of complete ignorance on software development and QA processes whilst offering completely useless ‘advice’ and making demands.
As a long time gamer and software development professional, I know very well that I can offer feedback and vote with my wallet without sounding like a total clown and spouting my opinions as fact.
Just to clarify, as this has turned into a little mini rant, this is not a personal attack on anyone in particular!
Ok. But it is not that simple. Norwegian law says the employee is entitled to 3 weeks off at some point between June 1 and Sept 30. The employer cannot fire you. That may be a three month window, but actually, people negotiate their three week vacations with their employer at least two months in advance. If the employer can demonstrate that the operations of their firm will be adversely affected by the employee taking that specific time off, the employer can consult with the employee on changing it. The employee is then entitled to additional compensation to offset losses do to the change in holiday. Usually it is easier for a company to let the employees go on holiday.
Norway’s labor laws are very worker friendly. Here is a link to the Act Relating to Holidays: https://www.arbeidstilsynet.no/globalassets/regelverkspdfer/act-relating-to-holidays
Yes I understand. But they have an American studio also. That uses American labor laws. Makes no sense. Give the Norway guys off as long as they want. Fix the game with your other studio. No one is saying anything about that. We are talking about bug fixes and tweaks to make your money make work. Not designing a game from the ground up. Pretty sure the guys in North Carolina can do that while the others are on vacation.but they are not doing that. And that tells me they do not care at all.
You focus too much on the American operation without knowing what can actually be done there.
I wonder why CE was developed in Oslo rather than Durham. Certainly it is a lot easier to get the developers for the game in the US. I doubt getting a special effects artist would have been as much of a problem.
Yeah I was thinking about the North Carolina stuff and then I found this article…make sure you read the first paragraph…
Funcom Names Head Of North Carolina Live Studio
http://www.alistdaily.com/media/funcom-names-head-of-north-carolina-live-studio/
Now the article is old but read their words and see what they say and then think about what I said.
See I get they need time off, but they cant even produce a decent game. They took people’s money in exchange for a lagtastic, craptastic game. I haven’t been able to play it sence the last ps4 patch. now I have to wait a whole nother month wtf? You have a dlc available for purchase that isnt even live yet and I was stupid enough to waist money on. I feel like I’m better off just selling the stupid game and picking up something else seeing how the dev team takes no pride in there work. I would say I would keep it to play when they actually finish it, but funcom has lost my loyalty. Dont think I’ll ever buy a game funcom sticks its fingers into from this point forward. A playable game and support are things you need and funcom fell short.
On the plus side warcraft expansion and fallout beta in august. I’m out!
Because there isn’t possible to have a class action lawsuit in Europe. Yet.
Imagine putting all that work in and throwing your hands up a couple of meters from the finish line and hitting the beach… “ Hey I wonder how that game we just launched is doing? “ I get it everyone needs a break but right after your major launch that will make it break your game delaying a critical patch to stabilize some pretty nasty bugs and issues
Not even sure how to feel about this anymore. We now know we play with what we got for about 2 more months.
We are still trying to get the 500+ patch that is currently on TestLive 645 over to PC as soon as possible, at the start of August. We do want to be careful though and want to be as sure as possible to not cause issues for when the patch goes to PC Live. (Issues can always happen but we try to be as pro-active as possible.)

Watching this sinking ship is so painful
