Massive FPS drops

It all makes sense. Our modding Community is huge. I think about Josh and Fia and the gang at Pippi and I wonder if they’d be put off by a liberal hugging at our first meeting.

Break it down to one guy if you will, someone who’s actually in the game: and @Multigun indeed works tirelessly on it. Some of us become agitated on his behalf, shall we say, when his mods and his life are cooked over an open flame every few weeks. That would be my perspective, there are human people behind these mods, and thus feelings of friendship become enrolled in their interaction. It is only natural to project some light enmity on Funcom, as the developer.

It’s happened to me and a group of people on servers without mods.

It’s useless to argue anymore… fix will come when they have it. Just an appreciation, take mods out and you’ll see how it goes. Oh, and who’s left.

I should be clear. I LOVE the modding community and especially the modders that do so much for us. I do feel for them having to keep updating, but it isn’t Funcom’s job to check their updates against every mod out there to make sure they did not break something. Just trying to understand why so many are upset at Foncom over this, as it seems mostly an issue that happens with mods.

However, there do appear to be some that have no mods at all and are experiencing issues. I didn’t get much feedback on a post earlier requesting folks to mention if they were 100% mod free and experiencing it. Mod free as in a pure clean install and never having had a mod before.

Well, perhaps it is time for devs to take care of the modding community too. I know I wouldn’t be playing without them, and know quite a lot that would do the same. As Barnes said, modders are humans and do it for fun and love for the game, the moment they find another game they can mod without having to review their work every time (almost) an update comes up, they’ll likely leave.

The thing is, people without mods are having the same issue of fps drops, and devs have acknowledged the problem, I think it’s clear to me that there is something on their end too or they wouldn’t be talking of releasing a fix. If base game works? A fix for what?. Mods are maybe a part, but not all. It’s not hard to understand, is it?.

SirVink, I saw your post didn’t get many feedback, my guess is because most people play modded rather than official, or at least so it seems from these forums feedback. Would be interesting to know the figures but that’s impossible to say.

Gotcha, we’re in agreement. After my experience with the process, a lot of people blame Funcom for not having a modkit in a basket, as in having the game designed around mod interactivity. Another studio did that in later years for one of my favorites, Age of Empires, but it took almost a decade.

As for mod-less, I run on several official servers and have seen a solid performance of 60fps, variable to 45 in times of stress at 1080p. It would be helpful to see people’s non-modded feedback.

If possible, when you notice the issue the most.
Seems to happen all over the place, inside the base, outside, no matter where the FPS will dip to 3-4 and then go back to 60 fps.

Please post your mod list also, to see if there might be a connection there.

Everyone on the server seems to have this issue, nothing else I can think of to mention.

A good number of people that play unmodded have said already they are having the same issues. As I myself have said before, the mods only make the issue worse, but the core problem still lies on Funcom’s end.

I think most of the mods have been updated until now, still slow motion.

Someone who tried to replace the round pillars from exile lands improved with normal ones (in case we needed to remove the mod without our structures collapsing), said it took him 4-5 seconds to turn around 180 degrees. If this is not unplayable, I dont know what is.

My clan was in process of recreating the fortress of sauron. If that thing would collapse down due to mod removal, that would be couple weeks work wasted.

Devkit was made available a few days before the update rolled out (Friday-Saturday).

@Mocaris welcome to our community and thanks for the details provided. From what we’ve read in the forums, ELI seems to be the one that aggravated this issue the most.

We’ve already acknowledged a few times over the past few days that there’s a couple of identified issues affecting performance introduced in the last patch. They are not as widespread nor as severe as with mods, but still an issue. Our team is working on that at the moment.

Again, we appreciate the lively discussions but please keep this topic for what it is, which is to collect information that would lead to a quicker resolution. For general discussions regarding the game, its mod scene and other topics please use the General discussions section.

Thank you for clarifying Ignasis.

“Early Next Week” has come and gone. Can we get a better timeline on when this will be fixed please? An honest one this time?

He’s off the clock, and while I’m just another player, it has been stated elsewhere that there is a slight hiccup with the PS4 certification of the patch to repair the Relic Hunter thrall issue. What that causes is a rollup, and because we have a relatively democratic process among all our systems, even the PC will feel a slight adjustment to the patch timeline. Some devs call it multi-platform torpor, but since this is the first delay caused by the PS4 rather than the PC or xb, I think it’s a little early to question their honesty.

What is going on FUNCOM ??? WHEN is the massive bug fix update occurring? Are you guys on holiday, if so let the community KNOW. Don’t leave your clients hanging.

Giving deadlines is never a good idea, moreso when you have limited resources and cannot put extra staff from other projects to work on the same issue. I don’t have a doubt devs are hard working trying to get a fix ready, but maybe their resources are limited and this is delaying their progress. Meanwhile there is other thing to do, play something else, or explore that strange thing people call real life.

Could we get an update @Ignasi , I understand “the team is working on it” but that doesn’t update the situation. If there was more communication about what is going on perhaps there wouldn’t be as much frustration and impatience player side.

Would be expected by funcom part to be informed if there are delays on this patch. Is a good way at least to handle the community when some breaking is caused by a Patch.

Just an advise funcom.

Mods are currently disabled, just reinstalled to ssd instead of external. Settings set with auto, places all at high and x4. Motion blur and vsync are off.
Typical fps - 48-63
Currently experiencing 7-15fps when unstable, and 23-49fps when semi-stable.

This surprises me.
Since the patch, During the most recent session just an hour ago, I just now began noticing FPS drops (looks like lag). Before now, it was running fairly smooth considering a different issue (game Freeze and locking up Machine forcing hard reset). Before this cropped up, there was occasional minor hiccups and delayed responsiveness. If I slowed down (my character), the responsiveness would return to normal rather quickly.
