Massive FPS drops

Ive been going through most of the hubs (currently in Sepermeru) the lag has been reduced considerably. Ive asked my players to let me know if they experience any lag. I will keep you posted

Perfect, thanks! Downloading the fix now, fingers crossed. On a side note, is this a modded server?

Yes, modded server running the following:100 lvl
Emberlight
Exiledlands improved
Pippi

@Multigun, just as important it is to document the facts surrounding this very unfortunate incident, the opposite is true. So I offer this:

Online private server, no mods - spent several hours mainly south of the river and did not have any framerate issues. Gameplay was the same as the day before.

Solo, no mods - All over the map for a bit more than 2 hours in admin mode, time spent mostly in or around the volcano, but visited Sep to the west, Pagoda to the SE and the Dregs. No framerate issues.

The above in no way invalidates the previous posts, and my personal thanks for the compilation and analysis of the results.

Regards

jim

Well that blows my idea of ELI contributing to the lag in some way right out of the water. Another question if you don’t mind, are you getting the new idle animations and the running stop anim I keep hearing about? I havent seen any of the new animations.

Gillette, let’s do our best to keep this thread on point as defined in the title. Directly below this one is a thread about the animations

Thanks, and regards!

jim

Yes, have all the snorting and farting thralls. Also have the “ouch, my spleen” when I stop running

As a player who has been with the game since its very early days in Early Access Alpha, it is completely reprehensible that you EXPECT us to sit here and wait for you to fix a game that you BROKE. Like others have been saying, this is not in EARLY ACCESS anymore! It hasn’t been for a very long time.
A roll back of the patch, and the DLC, should occur to ensure that the game is at least playable!
Not only have people sunk many $$ into the game, many people have sunk many hours into it. Personally I’ve almost hit the 1500hrs mark. If that doesn’t say I love the game, then I don’t know what does, but that doesn’t seem to mean anything when you sit there and tell us to just cop it on the chin and wait for a fix. None of this should have happened in the first place if it had undergone proper testing.
I can guarantee you, though there are only three comments in reply to this specific post, I can safely say there are many, many, many more players that are in agreement here.
Either roll back, or fast-track a fix. I don’t think its unreasonable to expect this when you’re now presently charging more than $50AUD for the game and $15AUD for each DLC pack.

Alright people. Frustration is understandable and you’re all very welcome to share it, but in a constructive and most importantly, respectful way.
We have a set of guidelines you’ve all agreed to when participating in our community discussions, which you can read right here on this link:
https://forums.funcom.com/t/conan-exiles-community-guidelines-please-read/54375
Please do read them again and continue the discussion keeping them in mind. Do also keep in mind that we’re all trying to make the game the best it can be, something we will achieve faster if the feedback you send to us is respectful, constructive and on point.

So just again, and as a reminder, this is what we’re here discussing:

  • Performance issues, such as low FPS and lag, introduced in the latest update (Oct 8th).
To discuss any other issue or situation, please do so in a separate thread or forum section.

To those of you running mods, please keep in mind that mods, after every update, tend to cause some issues shortly after the game being patched. Please refer to each mod page to see if there’s any ongoing issue with the current version of the mod. We cannot fix those issues and won’t collect feedback regarding technical issues of a mod. You should direct that feedback to the official page or community of that mod in particular.

We are interested in feedback regarding the vanilla game, with no mods (and with no mods, we mean none) so we can act upon that issue and fix it from our end. If you’re in that situation in which you’re running no mods in your game or your server, please let us know the following details:

  • Your system specs
  • The official server in which you’re experiencing these problems, if applicable.
  • Areas in which you’re experiencing these problems.
  • If you can share any videos showcasing this issue, it would be helpful too.
  • If you can DM me your game log that would be helpful too (they’re saved in the Saved/Logs folder inside your game’s installation folder)

If you’re still wanting to report these issues with mods, please first disable them completely and observe if the problem persists. If it does, please use the instructions just above. If it doesn’t please proceed to enable each mod one by one and observe if the problems start appearing again once any of them is enabled. This way you can isolate the cause of those technical issues.

The current ETA for the release of this fix is early next week. We understand this might be frustrating, but then again we’d like to deliver a fix that does indeed take care of this issue in particular properly.

And once again, to reiterate, we welcome all your feedback as long as it’s constructive and respectful.

  1. DLCs are how they make money. Rolling out DLCs for free on testlive is probably a bad financial decision, so how are they supposed to give a full test of new updates like these, before rolling out to the public? Maybe there is a good way to handle it and not lose revenue?

  2. There are a lot more people NOT having the issue than are, otherwise the forum would be massively clogged with posts on this issue. As others have stated, they aren’t having issues. So, Funcom missed this one before release and it happens. But they are working fast to fix it.

So doing a rollback is a really bad idea. It would upset far more people than are upset by the fps bug. From a business perspective and overall player satisfaction, I can’t see where Funcom is doing this wrong. From a player perspective that has the bug, it has to feel terrible, when you are so focused on the game. Especially bad for pvp servers.

On another game I play, when game breaking bugs get introduced, they lock down all PvP until the bug is resolved. In the case of CE, I’d even suggest putting a halt on all decay. In my opinion, this should prevent the worst of the losses that might happen to all those affected.

Even though I am not experiencing this bug, I truly understand the frustration. I had the lag spike bug from a year ago and it was a doozy. Took months to track it down and resolve.

Hello again all,
I wanted to say I did not create this post for it to become a Funcom punching bag, frustration is clearly in the air, I personally have been quite frustrated by this issue as well…
However the posts of “excessive” frustration are not needed.
As it was said earlier by Ignasis they need constructive criticism/feedback and I for one along with many others have given what they could to help alleviate this frustration. I see that sharing this frustration in an unneeded/excessive way will do absolutely nothing to progress things quicker given said previous posts and my experience…

The only thing any of us can do right now to have this issue fixed sooner or with more ease would be to give what information and/or observations we have from playing the game while the problem has occurred for us as Funcom has requested… in a helpful/constructive way, doing so in negative/disrespectful manner will not help anyone at all…
I for one am happy that any progress is being made on this subject despite said frustration when there could be the alternative that nothing could be getting done on their end.

I thank you all, Funcom and Players alike for looking into this and making progress on this matter.

One week for a fix for this seems a bit much. If it is truly going to take that long then would you consider rolling back the update? That way we could continue to play the game we all love while you continue to work on fixes?

Not really went here for reading all of those 157 posts and I get how what I am gonna ask probably has been asked/guessed before.

Anyway.

To me it seems the client cannot load and/or unload the world as it continues to be loaded.
Like a certain range around one gets loaded and when you start to move around, you will hit a point when you move further and “fly” above the world. It’s only grafics though - I can perfectly move around - except for having the falling animation.
Then I am using /home from the pippi mod back to where the world was loaded perfectly.
Guess what? World is there and stuff.

Edit after reading last post of Ignasis:
Same old over here. I do know that 8 GB RAM is way too few but…
Server got 26 mods; most people recommend at least 16 GB RAM.

Except for this, most of the machine is still from 2011.
i5 2400@3,1 GHz (Sandy Bridge); said 8 GB RAM (DDR3); Win 7; GTX960
Settings are low to medium.

FPS is bad. Really bad. Sometimes it’s on the usual 30-40ish FPS; then I am down to 1-5.

Game is unplayable for me right now. Before update I hover around 140 FPS and now it drops to lower than 20 frequently. I hear no chase music when I’m being chased, the enemies don’t make noises when I fight them and sometimes I get visual glitches. Thralls are insanely annoying and the stop animation got annoying really quick. I instead it going off after coming out of a sprint, but it’s playing for light steps and after jogs. That animation should only play after sprinting for a certain duration, and would love for the thrall noises to be reduced

Why have my posts been deleted? I broke no rules?

I keep playing with no issues on my potato, single player no mods or multiplayer online official server.
Amd Fx 8320e 3.2 Ghz
8 Gb RAM
Sapphire Rx 480 4 Gb

To people asking how this got past testing: have you checked it on testlive? On the testlive version there was no such issue, at least on my system.
You can still change to testlive version and see if it performs the same to you.

because testlive work differently, you usualy have much different coding due to how testlive work as well as none of the previous patch hotfix(since the testlive normaly is updated with the working non hotfix data)

With and without any mods, after a few minutes the game starts to lag badly as soon as I start to run. Basically, every time I start to run towards Sepermeru from my small outpost south of the Den, the framerate drops to about 5 fps. Usually I enjoy scenic slideshows but in this case I cannot even reach Sepermeru as the world ends near the western edge of Shattered Springs. There is a jagged line where the terrain texture ends and beyond that there is nothing.

Game mode: Solo

Computer:
Intel i7-4820k 3.70 GHz
16 GB RAM
EVGA GeForce 1080 Ti
500 GB Samsung EVO 850 SSD
1 TB Samsung EVO 860 SSD
Windows 10 Pro x64
Latest nVidia driver

Game is installed on the 1TB SSD drive and usually runs smoothly at 50 to 60 fps. My guess is that the game is struggling (but fails) to load textures and other world assets, hence the stuttering. Strangely, when I wiped all of the gamesave files and purged the mod list and loaded a low level character, I did not notice any issues (with this low level character I was able to run from Thugra’s Stand to Sepermeru without any slowdown or missing terrain).

The character that is experiencing these framerate (and missing terrain) issues is a “veteran” character with quite a few bases, thralls, and considerable amounts of resources (~200,000 hardened bricks, 350,000 wood, 120,000 steel reinforcements etc.). The size of the gamesave.db file is 29 MB. The gamesave.db is not corrupted.

Posting my agreement to the others here. Not fixing this until next week is absolutely unacceptable. The game is neigh-on unplayable for those affected by this issue, which in my experience is the vast majority of PC players.

You BROKE this game, and the fact that you guys aren’t sounding the alarms and paying-out some overtime to get it fixed just plain speaks ill of your studio.

The game is unplayable at 2 fps framerate, so do whatever you want since Im playing other games while the issue is unresolved.
