Massive FPS drops

Weird that many people have these issues while some dont experience any at all. But seeing that some even have the issue while playing without mods.

Now i can understand it takes a while adressing the issue but not release a temporary fix till then? That just blows.

Did anybody tried to roll back video card drivers, those can break performance on games and it would not be the first time this happens also.

So here is how it behaves for me. On login everything seems fluid for like 2 minutes then stutters and lag spiked begins gradually. It get worse if i do enter on a cave for some reason. Seems also that this happens even more in the transition between interiors and exteriors.

The issue for me is improved today, but is by no means fixed. I did a fair amount of building and decorating today, and until i’d placed a lot of things it was behaving alright (meaning <30fps with frequent hiccups), but is now lurching at about 3fps when I run through my base. I headed north to check up there, and the closer I got to the area that never finished loading in (which was the same today, for some reason), the worse my frames got, until it was at 1fps, clearing briefly to normal every minute or so. I was also having issues with some harvesting, and having to find the exact spot where it would actually work (primarily with brimstone).

running any mods? I uninstalled all mine and the game seems to be running smooth as butter. my character, on the other hand, is running like they have acute appendicitis

Several, but it’s all the same ones I’ve been using for months. I’m not invested in the problem enough to disable everything and make a new character just to test it. I don’t have the new animations or sounds; are they only available with the most recent paid DLC?

I heard nothing about new sounds, but if by animations you mean emotes, then yeah they’re DLC exclusive

theres also new idles animations, thrall idle sounds, and thye changed the running stop animation. a lot of this wasnt well recieved, but i didnt even see it until i uninstalled all mods. loading up a new game now with all mods except exiled lands improved because that seems to be the cause at the moment

The test i did include servers. Modder and Unmodded. Singleplayer modded and unmodded. All have the same result of hiccupping and frame drops. There is something on the code that clog everything. The thing seem to reach a critical stance then suddently drop to then start again just few second after.

All of this seems an indication of neglecting of tests by funcom part before releasing the patch.

Since the moderator talk about respect i would remind them that respect is earned and not given and quite frankly breaking the game for so many people to then tell them to wait a week is indeed a lack of respect.

Careful Mebrilia, the Funcom Police don’t like it when people call them out, either that or there’s a bug that deletes tweets and posts.

Well, I experimented a bit.

Yesterday I wrote that the game started to lag within a few minutes with and without mods.

Today, I repeated the experiment: I emptied the modlist.txt file, removed all current game.db and game_backup_*.db files and copied a backup batch of .db files that I archived in September to the /Saved directory.

I was rather surprised to discover that the game stopped lagging. That’s right, no FPS drop while running, no disappearing terrain, properly spawning NPCs in cities…

Right now, I’m adding back one by one the mods from my old modlist.txt to the emptied active modlist.txt and check if the issues return after adding a specific mod.
I’ve already tested Glass Constructions and More, Mining and Lumbermill, Pythagoras Support Beams, Extended Cartography, Improved Bodies, and Crassus. Crassus introduced a slight glitch: spawning near Sepermeru initially prevents NPCs in the city from spawning. I suspect that it has something to do with the fact that Crassus adds a “corpse” token to the NPCs’ loot table. Anyway, after running away from the city and returning there, the NPCs respawned and behaved normally. Crassus caused no lag.

I’ll continue my experiments. Yesterday I already noticed that adding back certain mods (mostly those related to NPCs or the player character) was certainly related to the lag problem and the disappearing terrain issue.

I think I caught the culprit:

Mod ID: 1445074878
Mod name: Play Razma & Conan

As soon as I added this mod to my modlist.txt, the lag and the disappearing terrain returned. When I removed it, the issues were gone again. I’ll update this post if I find any more “misbehaving” mods that cause either lag or terrain glitches.

GG suspending users who rightfully give you harsh critique after you’ve butchered their community, ruined their game, and charged them money for it. Absolutely atrocious of you to handle this incident in this way. I’m pissed off too and I have every right to be.

Unable to upload my log file (filetype not allowed); but it’s flooded with these entries:

[2019.10.10-16.06.16:518][ 35]LogSkinnedMeshComp:Warning: GetBoneMatrix : ParentBoneIndex(0) out of range of MasterPoseComponent->SpaceBases for /Game/Maps/ConanSandbox/ConanSandbox.ConanSandbox:PersistentLevel.PersistentHumanoidNPC_C_7.SkeletalMeshComponent_76

Hope that helps, and if you’d like the log file, please advise on how to get it to you. Thanks!

I have had no noticable issues at both official servers i play on, nor on my rented one (no mods). Does this happen at specific areas?

same problems. huge lags, massive fps drops to same really low numbers and then back to full again for some short time and then again and again and so on. strange physics behaviour. strange texture bugs. mod list bellow:

HOWEVER after making sandbox backup and removing ELI everything went back to normal. no lags, no fps drops, physics and textures seems to be ok

Does anybody noticed, that since the patch, you can turn the camera around the Chararter, like in MMOs usually? Before, the cam was spotted to the side and went back if u released the mouse.

Thats why i tried to figure out if it’s sth to do with mods influencing camera behaviour like greater camera distance or others, because they change the way ground and surrounding structures are rendered and how often. If there something comes in conflict with the new ability to turn the camera arund, when it first was locked to the side (not in V-Mode), then conan probably dont know what way to use to render the objects and surroundings and it switches between 2 different ways, ending in those peaks and hiccups and disappearing world parts etc.

I tried with and without cam mods but could barely notice any difference (in Singleplayer game mode, fresh new game) the issues stayed almost the same, but then i played around with the camera distance and horizontal/vertical sight in the game settings and i managed to get an almost playable setting slightly above the defaults (all other graphic settings on medium, rig could run maximum with at least 140-200 FPS capped with G-Sync at 90 FPS on WQ UHD Res.)

Played for around 1,5 h visited npc camps and SepCity, the fps was strugglin’ around ~40…changing the settings , in any way (vertical/horizontal sight) DECREASED fps every time to 5-12 FPS.

I dont know exactly if this could help anybody playin the game in a decent way or if this is part of the major problem but maybe it’s quite interesting for further investigation about the main issues…

Ok i discovered something interesting. Mod regarding. I managed to fix my frame issue totally. Seems like there are some mods and i suspect that are the one that add things to the character models that may cause errors with the new implemented animation.

Do a test. Disable any mods that will add to the character. ((Body mods and such)). Then try to see if the frames drop.

Dark, uncheck the box next to ‘Rotatable Stationary Camera’ as seen in the pic below to solve your camera behaviour. It seemed to reset itself in the patch.

The framerate problem is known and they are working on a fix.
