Weapons Balance

I think you have hit the nail on the head with your post @JohnnyWylder, and you have reiterrated some very valid and pertinent points in the process. Their decision was devoid of logic, and the approach was disproportionate and unmeasured. While I am not naive enough to believe I was the sole catalyst for its addition into the game, my lobbying and research on Crom in my thread certainly played a role in it. And it is gut wrenching seeing something myself and numerous other members fought so passionately for, to become useless and sit atop the trash pile. I have already generated an in depth feedback thread (below) shortly after the changes were made, and it received overwhelming support here among the community. But of course it was ignored, just like most community feedback nowadays.

Nonetheless, I will still reiterate some key points, more for my own peace of mind than anything else now.

So at the time of its induction to Conan Exiles, here were its starting values:

  • 121 damage
  • 13% armor penetration
  • 2,400 durability
  • the trade off was it had an instant 100% stamina drain with each swing

Now flash forward to its current lacklustre and useless state, and it looks like this:

  • 78 damage
  • 20% armor penetration (yeah whopdee do)
  • 450 durability

Oh but hey it has its own new and unique “quirk” (their words, not mine) for us to all get excited about; less durability than an iron sword! Which of course was merely a false positive. Kind of like getting a parking ticket in a Christmas card. And the absurdity of it, as you correctly pointed out is here for all to see:

That is the sad part I am affraid; the logic. The logic behind it was out the window and some 5 miles back up the road.

The ‘problem’ was the Rolling Thrust perk. There was absolutely no need to go and nerf the Sword of Crom. Which leads to my next point; they didn’t simply adjust the Sword of Crom. With the nerf it received it was not simply tweeked, but was utterly destroyed. On the same level as the Roman ‘nerf’ to Carthage following the Punic Wars. They completely and utterly destroyed it and rendered it useless, like so many others before it. Its unique high damage high stamina drain mechanic, the very thing which made it unique and interesting GONE. Alas now it is just another freaking generic greatsword, except one with a fraction of the durability, which is locked behind a loathsome RNG mechanic, and is surpassed by a plethora of weapons in JohnnyWylder’s list above.

And on that note @JohnnyWylder I want to thankyou kindly for speaking up on this issues and for generating this thread. I doubt it will bring about any meaningful change, but nonetheless, as a devout man of Crom, I cannot thankyou enough for speaking for our sword.

For CROM!! :mountain_snow: :metal:
