In the last patch the world bosses got a huge boost. Unfortunately, even with Foeshatter, (and -14% penetration) I could not even hurt a scorpion boss, I was hitting it but that health bar did not even move. Others I could hurt it would take hours just to bring down.
Maybe a great idea for multi- player, but they really need to be toned down, in single player so they are a challenge but not over whelming.
If you do not like the challenge of soloing a world boss, there are a few mods that will reduce world boss stats to something more single player manageable. Though while the game is still being balanced, such mods may need to wait until actual release before the final tweaks can be added. But be assured, there are mods that can address that issue for you.
That being said, having some boss-HP-slider affecting only those key-keepers and dungeon bosses (and those few open world bosses) would be better than having to rely on some mods.
While I do prefer playing vanilla, one could think of consoles just as well…
Those wont allow mods, or do they?
I have no issue of a challenge per say, they should be a fight that one can brag if won. I broke off attacks when a top of the line weapon is not or barely scratching it. I do not want to spend 3.5 million hours to kill one. I heard of the mods, but thank you for the tip =) But it should be a game mechanic. _
Reminds me of the dungeon bosses, not world bosses, in AOC that required an entire raid to kill. Good incentive for forming up a clan to fight the the bosses and not expect solo players to do it.
I actually like really, tough world bosses roaming around. It helps the “survival” feel to know that I’m not the most powerful creature in the world and its a challenge should I choose to stand and fight.
So after the new patch(the huge buff of boss) this is what I think of difficulty of each key boss in 1v1 when you are level 60 (boss vs player)
Crocodile Giant - not easy but doable
Scorpion King - pretty much doable
Locust Queen - pretty much doable
Tiger White - pretty much doable
Elephant Alpha - pretty much doable
Rhino King - not easy but doable
Undead Dragon - not to underestimate but still doable
Demon Spider - pretty much doable
ReptileBeast Boss - 50/50 I lose sometimes, I win sometimes, it seems its damage is even higher than Rhino King.
Giant Spider - with this one, I am struggling in 1v1, it has fast speed, long range attack, fast attack combo I can still dodge all but barely can hurt it without getting hit by it. It is much harder than any other bosses in this game.
Giant Spider Skull - same as Giant Spider
Snake Alpha - just freaking fast, and very long range attack, it just instantly hurts you whereever you are in its range.
Snake Giant - same as Snake Giant
Anyone else think Giant Spider (and Snake Alpha) is bit too strong?
(I honestly think Snake bosses are even harder than Giant Spider tho)
And I lately realized that they are actually all doable with OP shield easily
They are all doable if you have 4 hours to fight one creature. Not getting hit isn’t the issue. It’s that it’s stupidly boring smashing a scorpion king again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again…
The Scorpion Daddy went from doable to just like most of the other bosses - top tier weapons don’t really hurt it. You literally have to fight that thing for a couple of hours.
Well, if you hold the sword by the handle instead of the blade, the fight goes much quicker.
I made a topic about this issue with a doable solution in suggestion and feedback sector of the forums . please go and support it.
Use shield with one hand then it is all doable
Doable but a slogfest. Plus half the time you’re blocking and you’re hit as if you’re not blocking.
Do thralls attack wildlife in SP?
I was testing the new health of world bosses and spawned some archer thralls. I loaded the arrows and equipped the bows but they would not attacks. Spawned Lian and he would not attack either.
I had Lian with me for the gater boss. He did nothing, until the gator missed me and strikes him. Then he started attacking.
They need to find creative fun ways to make bosses/legendary creatures difficult other than just “add more life”. That sort of thinking ruins games as things become damage sponges and offer no real challenge other than time. Mechanics such as unique attacks, unique use of environment, summoning adds, special debuffs, special required items or potions, setting bosses on fire first to damage them, kiting them through water to weaken them etc…these are the things that make a game entertaining…not just making things take longer to die…i really hope they do something like this.
agree about the boring fight, it sometimes gets me sleepy when I fight those bosses, hitting hitting hitting hitting dodge dodge block block
They’re all doable solo but the amount of health is annoying. It gets boring thumping the same creatures head a few thousand times before it stops moving
I solo every one of these bosses, and it doesn’t take me hours to do so. If you are taking more than 20 minutes to do a world boss, you need to take a better look at your stats, gear, and food. Epic Cimmerian armor with Silent Legion gloves is a good place to start. If you think walking up to a giant spider and rolling around in your cute little Zamorian Thiefs armor and poking at it with a spear should be doable, you deserve to repeatedly get gacked in the game. Put some heavy armor on, get a 40 vitality, use feasts of yog and herbal teas, strap a shield on your arm so you don’t get knocked down as easily, and use your chain combos properly. The combat in this game is really not hard. I ran through and did 5 legendary bosses and all 3 dragons solo in an evening, never died, never even got below half life. Wanna kill bosses solo, become a tank, not a ninja
The truly easy one is the Locust Queen because she gets staggered by hits.
Options
- Run up to her face, deliver 20 bleeds from daggers, then dodge sideways, repeat when bleeds expire.
- Run up to her face, deliver full heavy weapons combo, then dodge sideways, repeat until dead.
- Place 6 (apparently this in an AI limitation) high quality fighter thralls with a mix of daggers, hammers and 2h swords. Kite her into the group, they murder her.
- Place 6 decent archer thralls on a semi-circular wall (2 square, 1 triangle, 3 square, 1 triangle should fit them all) Equip 2 with set arrows, 4 with throwing axes. Kite her in circles as the poison wears her down.
- Kite her, or any other boss up 12 blocks high worth of stairs, break floor and have her or both (place bedroll nearby) fall to your death.
- Get accuracy 50, get a good bow, murder from an elevated position.
I find variaion fun. Though, I really enjoyed the test-live bosses with their reduced hp, so I soloed them for fun rather than to farm legendaries.
