The only game i can remember now have wipes are rust and rust its a pvp game.
Ark worked for most 8 years with no wipe and the server are 1000% best compared to conan servers.

I’m not going to block you, I never block people… you should be perfectly capable of following forum guidelines and refraining from this type of BS. So if you keep up your behavior I am going to do a manual custom text report for forum staff every time you do it, which will probably result in your account being suspended very very fast.

You saw me commenting in a thread a long time ago that asked to BUFF thralls to combat official server performance issues. They wanted thralls to have a massive health boost so that when the server stalls and their AI switches off, they can sit there and face-tank hits for hours.
I was against that, because it’s my opinion that gameplay should NOT be balanced based on server performance issues.
I made my stance perfectly clear and I explained that if an official server performs poorly THAT is the issue… that’s what needs to be addressed and improved. No developer should never balance games to bugs and problems, instead they should fix the bugs and problems themselves.
(also, that issue has since been mitigated by Funcom via DBNO)
It seems that based on that stance, which in my opinion is perfectly logical and I stand by it even today, you got it in your head that I was asking for a thrall nerf and somehow decided that what exactly?.. I’m the big bad enemy and you need to make personal attacks against me in every thread?

Official servers with decay turned off but that wipe every six months or so might be an interesting experiment.
Highly doubt officials would be wiped or that it would go over very well if they did. Although if Funcom could fix all or even most of pressing issues including hacks but it involved such extensive code changes that a wipe was necessary it’s entirely possible most players would be for it. But it had better work…
If you guys want to indulge @DeaconElie’s “discussion” about which of his pet peeves and personal preferences should be enforced by official server rules, knock yourselves out, but let’s make one thing crystal clear:

Theres lots of private servers out there. Empty.
But not many wants to join private servers. Because they worry owner will stop it one day and they will lost their progress.
So the right way is to not follow the ToC?

I’m not referring to people still making progress. This is more about hoarders long done with the game and just serial refreshing to not lose their hoard.
Sure these players may quit with a wipe, but you can hardly consider serial refreshing as playing.
But once again as it seems I need to remind some of this with every post, this is purely hypothetical and based on opinion. Just because I have no issue playing on a server the does periodic wipes; like the private 7days server I play on, I know not everyone would want to… Some people may enjoy accumulating Content but not me. I’m task oriented so it’s all about completing the quest not the reward.

Yes this is hyperbole but still valid point. We all discuss the right way to game. It’s just a matter of where you draw the lines between acceptable or unacceptable. Cheating and exploiting are unacceptable ways to play right? Grieving is one that is tolerated but truly is just online bullying.
The point here is that we all have right and wrong ways to play games already established in our heads and we share and criticize or defend these. No need to pull the freedom card because all games have rules and all houses (aka servers) have their own house rules.
Now I’m doing one of the things I gripe about, serial refreshing. But I have no hoard, my base is small, I’m just waiting out funcom. My body is a vault, but if I miss a check in I wont shed a tear. If my character gets wiped, eh.
My opinion what we are going to see for the next 4{?} months is a lot of the same, nothing. And by that time I wont be here.
Done with being ignored. I am not some foster kid in the basement being ignored while funcom spends my money on the new kid.
I’d have paid $20 for Dune before, but not now, I am sick to death of being ignored by funcom and I know Dune players, the apple of funcoms eye right now, will be ghosted shortly after the game comes out. And I am not doing it again.
I’m sick of the legacy bugs, It’s like funcom has completely given up even trying to fix them. I’m sick of ban-aid fixes that fall off. I’m sick of updates that are more bug then feature. I’m sick of simple things that the payer base needs and is requesting be too much trouble. I’m sick of not knowing when I go to log in If my server will be up, if I can log in, if may base is still there, if my foot will be nailed to the floor, if the game is going to crash before my base finishes loading in, if I’ve lost thralls, and so on.
I do not need my recreational activity causing more stress then enjoyment.

One would assume it is huge buildings, naturally, but is that really true? You are basically here assuming it is big houses and lots of stuff in it. But it literally NEVER says that.

I think you are beginning a circular argument here. I was asking for some kind of metric that can link to a cause and effect relation of laggy servers.

I do not always agree with @DeaconElie , including with the idea, although theoretical, of proceeding with a periodic deletion of servers and I explained why (my opinion).
Even if large structures do not or may not have an impact on the servers, it is clear that the excess number of NPCs and the chests with their contents have a negative impact on the servers.
Even if the rules set out by Funcom do not prohibit this, a little common sense allows us to understand that excess NPCs and containers cause delays on the servers.
Again, I have to ask you: How did you come to that conclusion? It is a simple question! Did you observe it? Do you have data on it?

but I get it. Let’s assume this is the problem. What else than a “few weeks” of good performance does a server wipe create? The underlying problem, whatever it may be is not addressed.
But the underlying root cause is selfish game play and not taking into consideration other players when building within the aspect of finite data/rate of processing.
How do you regulate that and maintain a good relationship with those creative types that do take this into consideration and expand and contract their buildings and general footprint based on server activity and localized gameplay in the game?

I play on a private PS5 server and currently there are only three of this server.
I have placed more than two hundred STRJ enslaved as well as 30 to 40 busy chests.
The delay of the server has become unmanageable notably near my fortress, supribing the half of the chests and the NPCs The server performers have been best .
I have given my opinion on the fact of proceeding to wipes, I am in agreement with you to say that this would only help because the underlying problems of the server are partly due to the lack of optimization And to the G-Portal server, moreover players as I can say above can quickly get what was erased.
